Quantum Break PC

You off your meds today?

You made the switch to PS4, so i don't expect you to be worried about Xbox being phased out. Why doesn't anyone else care though? Last gen people were hoping there was no PS4. Now everyone's just cool with jumping ship i guess? I like both consoles, and i want competition. Microsoft is throwing in the towel. I doubt they win an NPD this year.

I guess we will see. I have always wanted a rigged out gaming PC but never wanted to pay for it. I'm a console gamer through and through. If the cloud is real then high end gaming PCs may end up being a relic. It's not needed.

After this post i'm done. I won't bore you guys anymore, i just can't believe people are acting like there's no downside to what Microsoft is doing. If we support Microsoft we're corporate slaves and if we voice our opinions we're crybabies. You can't win if you're an Xbox fan this gen. If Sony was doing this you'd need a boat to get down the street because it would be a river of tears from PS fans.

Well, essentially PC and Surface are Microsoft's 3DS or PS Vita. But the difference is Microsoft doesn't make PCs, they make operating systems for PC. So i mean, how do we know Halo, Gears, and Forza aren't just going to start showing up on PS and Nintendo consoles? It sounds like they're testing the waters by giving away free copies of PC games to see how many people will go that way. If plan B doesn't work is plan C to go third party altogether? If it brings more sequels, fine i guess. Microsoft has the money, they just need to invest it. All of this sounds like a recipe to be the next Sega.

The problem is, by putting all your games on PC you're not giving people a reason to buy an Xbox console. I don't know about you guys, but i'm a console gamer. I wouldn't bother with PC if someone built me a high end rig for free. I know i'm not alone on that. I get that Microsoft is in the business of making money. They've hit an iceberg and the ship is sinking fast. But come on. Throwing in the towel on the Xbox One? It's selling better than the 360 was. Stay the course. All they need to do is make it to next gen and release the most powerful console and they're right back where they were.

Putting all their exclusives on PC gives people no reason to get a Xbox, but you're console gamer and you have no interest in a PC even if it was free? Do you see the problem with that statement?

PC gamers and console gamers may overlap sometimes, but they're not the same market. Them putting these games on PC is not going to make gamers like you and me (console gamers) need an Xbox any less because we were never going to game on a PC in the first place. In other words, if these games had been on both from the beginning, we would still be playing them on Xbox. Your very own statements prove this.

The more people that can play the games they want to play, the better. Sure, it might hurt their bottom line if you're a PC dude who was going to get an XBOX One for this game, now this news comes out that it will be on the PC as well, so that's a lost sale, but Phil has said time and time again that gamers will be coming first this generation.

Should Microsoft pull support of Minecraft on the PS4, TDBank?

Sony console exclusive + PC = incredible business decision.

Microsoft doing what they've basically always have done. = sinking ship?
This. Plus just how many joe blow gamers do you see all of a sudden dumping their xbox's to upgrade expensive PC's to run these games? Again console gamers will continue to game on consoles, and if this move allows MS to take more risks and continues to give us new IP's then i can live with it.

Pre-Ordered and I get a copy on PC for the day I have a gaming pc. w00t

Plus Alan Wake. Awesome.

I can't believe anyone would complain about this... oh wait gamerz... yea I believe it.

This guy always makes valid points when fanboys freak out. He breaks it down pretty well. If MS feels like this is going to be the future and it might potentially help greenlighting sequels to new franchises like QB I'm all for it. I know it's an optimistic way of looking at things but aren't we all tired of waiting for Alan Wake 2 or LO2? Maybe Xbox exclusives can finally get a small boost / that extra reason needed for greenlighting such projects. We all want to see QB 2 or the aformentioned games happen, right? If the Xbox + Windows platform can get us more games, I'm all for it.

The only problem I have with this whole situation is that Phil Spencer could've communicated it to the user base like this. The social media s***storm is their own fault. PR should've been on that asap. Instead they (the Xbox team) all did a little sales pitch on how great it is to use a feature that some have no interest in with the promotion of an exclusive game that people are excited for. The media (shocker!) only focusses on it being on PC while a lot of us are more interesting in hows it plays or what the story and decision making segments are like.

They should drop the bomb saying Xbox Live is now free @ E3 but it probably won't happen.

Xbox Live is the most profitable part of the Xbox business and the biggest revenue driver. They are more likely to look for a way to get Windows 10 PC users to also pay for Xbox Live (although God knows how) than ever make it free.

It will be a hard sell to get PC gamers to pay for online, the only possible way I could imagine is if in the future this "power of the cloud" actually gives you an experience you can't get with current hardware like Crackdown. The problem is these kind of games are few and far between. I think PC gamers would pay though if the majority of games used it and enabled games not possible on there hardware. Getting PC players to pay a sub just to play online though, never going to happen.

Sigh.

This is why I miss Mattrick. He would have convinced Sam Lake to sell Remedy for $0.35 to MS, quadruple in size and cloned 6 others to write the scripts for Scalebound, Gears 4, Halo 6 and others.

Phils done good with back compat...thanks to the power of the cloud, it need not be an option in the future, but a standard and that keeps me warm at night, but stuff like this....is a step back.

Just rebrand PC's as "upgradeable" Xbox Ones...instant sales victory, cut this cross-buy version malarky.

True fact. Hardly anyone buys the PC version of anything, which is why this is all the more a head scratcher. This will affect XBO sales 1% and increase W10 adoption 3%....it's already over 200M platforms. Windows doesn't really need XBO exclusives to dominate. It's hardly worth the effort.

Console wars, in some peoples eyes it's one less exclusive to brag about.

What goes around. Sony paid $400m to purchase stake in porting Playstation exclusives to Phablets and "Select Samsung Smart TVS".
Eventually all the first party will be on that and that's a good day for console warriors. It's just a matter of ticks.

Certainly MS sees Xbox as a service as they move forward, and part of that is that they view the Xbox platform as a service that extends to all of their devices, not just the console. Apparently, there is a portion of the player base that doesn't see it that way. However, to be fair, MS has been saying this is where they're going for a while now.

This is true, but there are better ways this could have been handled. MS should be pushing the console they designed and manufacture, it is their responsibility to manage content for it.

It is not Microsoft responsibility to manage game content for PCs because they make the definite PC operating system, especially at the cost of the former.

For every one of these, we need 10 PC exclusives in return (triple A or 50 indies).

Sadly, there aren't 10 PC exclusives.

Bet Remedy pushed hard for a PC version from the start.

They were clearly very upset when Wake got canned originally.

I think the only way they could do it is with some sort of Games with Gold type service tailored to PC. Either 'free' PC games each month or a PlayStation Now type game streaming service with Xbox game library access without the need for actual Xbox hardware. Something like an EA Access type service but with added game streaming. I don't think it would necessarily be a good idea or successful, but I can't imagine that Microsoft haven't looked at trying something regarding paid subs in the PC gaming space.

I doubt it'll work. The PC gamers like the words free and sale as far as services or content goes - who doesn't? Eventhough they may have spent big money on their rig they're playing mostly free to play games. Hearthstone is the new Uno. I play that on my phone with friends that play it on their gaming rigs. All that money invested for graphics and they play that simple, free card game 24/7.

I'm not following this line of thinking. Lots of things can be handled better, but lets not mistake people's ignorance and misinformation for something else. MS has been saying this for a while now; it's not some overnight, willy-nilly decision. MS can do their part, but consumers need to do theirs as well. I'm still amazed at how many uninformed people think all the responsibility for what they now lies with the other party.

Roughly three years of marketing, selling, and improving the X1 and somehow decisions like this mean they aren't pushing it or managing it's content? That is nonsensical. People are acting like this content isn't coming to the console anymore.

red dragon is one of the biggest stealth Xbox trolls around and is so fos! Like when he was saying dx 12 Xbox games where going look better than ps4 games.

I am done with paying for Xbl (at least 4 now )Will be playing my cross platform Xbox games online for free via PC.Wouldn't consider paying for live on PC lol it would be doa.

I checked whether my Windows 10 laptop can handle Quantum Break but apparently a 6 year old i5 CPU, 4 GB memory and no dedicated GPU put it just slightly below the minimum spec.

It's only been said in in more general way though. "There will be cross over with Windows 10 and Xbox One" ok fair enough ...So why announce it now, after 3 years of waiting and 2 delays, with 6 weeks to go? With Sea of Thieves and Halo Wars 2, we were told outright and not many eyelids were batted with those.

At least give it a years exclusivity FFS.

Roughly three years of marketing, selling, and improving the X1 and somehow decisions like this mean they aren't pushing it or managing it's content? That is nonsensical. People are acting like this content isn't coming to the console anymore.

Because it's is diminishing the need of an Xbox One. Up until this announcement, if you wanted to play this, you needed an Xbox one. Now you don't. Presumably more Xboxs in homes is better for Microsoft Studios then less. Given we are 6 weeks before launch and no-one buys PC games anyway (and they will buy even less if it's given away for free) this isn't going to have much of an effect, but still it's not a benefit.

Don't get me wrong, being able to use the same Gamertag/Achievements and cross-buy in general is good and ....so pull this s*** with indies and 3rd party games. If you want to sell the world on Cross-buy, get Activision to sign off of this.

This might be positive in a vacuum, but Sony isn't doing this much (some PS4 games are on Vita, but with it dying off games like Gravity Rush 2 are now PS4 exclusive) and it'll be another year and a half before PS4 games start showing up on PSNow....of course, once that starts happening, this won't matter that much because Sony warriors will be in the same boat. But until then...

While I have seen the future, and know how this all ends this is curious behavior for the interim. If the PC market is so important to MS, why bother with a console? Or at least one with fixed hardware.

I think they need a bigger market so PC it is.

Is this crapgamer? Lol. Wow, just wow, Mattrick was the worst for the Xbox brand. He ruined the brand with his short sightedness. Mattrick wouldn't have convinced Sam Lake of s*** because Mattrick would be more worried about tv and sports than games. He would be more worried about garbageware for Kinect.

Also, the studios that Mattrick opened were s*** tier Kinect studios and totally wasting the talent of Rare with Kinect garbage and avatar crap.

If Mattrick was still in charge the Xbox brand would be dying.

Backwards comp has nothing to do with the cloud lol.

Why should they stop with cross buy? The games are going to be sold in Microsofts Win 10 store. They are trying to beef up their store as they unify their platform across all device types.

Again, extremely short sighted. This is about leveraging the Windows 10 App Store. It's about heading towards their future of one platform across all device types. I'm talking about a future where you can stream your Xbox games to a device like your cell phone from the cloud. Your saves are in the cloud and you can pick up and play where you left off on your phone, tablet, laptop, PC, Xbox branded hardware and Hololens. That is what Microsoft wants. That is what they are doing. It's very much worth the effort for Microsoft for their vision.

This is true, but there are better ways this could have been handled. MS should be pushing the console they designed and manufacture, it is their responsibility to manage content for it.

Sadly, there aren't 10 PC exclusives.

They have been doing an extremely great job managing content for the Xbox one since Mattrick ran away. They have been bringing a ton of new games down the pipeline.

As stated above, it is Microsoft's job to manage game content for PC in order to succeed in their future vision. People forget that the Windows 10 app store is coming down the pipeline for the Xbox One also. They are trying to beef up the store in order to attract indie devs/pubs to release their games there. If the win 10 store is unified across all platforms, imagine this. We know Street Fighter 5 isn't seeing the light of day on the Xbox one. What if, Microsoft's convinces Capcom to release Street Fighter in the Win 10 Store, the very same App Store that the Xbox one will use because of Microsoft's unified store vision. Guess what, you are playing street fighter on Xbox branded hardware even though it is suppose to be a PlayStation console exclusive.

Your statement about PC not having 10 exclusives is simply incorrect and really, an ignorant statement.

Even though I see less of a reason to own a XBO now(as I can just buy my XB games on the PC)
I think this is a win win for MS to cater to both audiences and it surely will make them more cash(isn't that what this is all about)

I think we need cross play for all of the MP games.
Steam support.
More combo deals ie Buy XB version get PC version.
Keep online play free for Win 10.
