Check your emails! Microsoft rewarding fans with Xbox One console, games

Xbox Live Support twitter said they take gamer score, tenure, and a lot of other factors into account on how they distribute these things. So, it's not just having a high gamer score and 10+ years of XBL. Hell, they could take a list of XBL subscribers who are 10+ years, "X" amount of gamer score, specific region, and then just randomly generate the promo to random emails.

Live member since day 1, original Xbox purchased day one, 360 purchased day one, X1 preordered day one, nearly 65k gamerscore. Emails from Microsoft? 0

You and me both. This promotion is puzzling. Seems odd to word the promotion the way they do: We are rewarding some of our biggest fans and then shutting out people that have a huge amount of time and cash invested in the brand -- 10 year tenures and high gamerscores etc. Seems like a sure fire way to alienate some of their biggest supporters. It is almost like they didn't think it all the way through. They really need a better marketing team and PR people. This launch has been a case study in what not to do in that regard.

Well, I couldn't care less for achievements.. that must mean i'm not a dedicated xbox fan..

Xbox live support's Twitter account has been reliable as a mesh condom the last few months.

I didn't get an email either, but glad for those who did. My gamerscore is in the 35-40k range and my tenure is 7-8 years. No biggie. If I had gotten something I would have given it to Plainview to give away on the site anyway.

Can't do that. Game is tied to your gamertag.

not really, what if you rent all those games?

or even borrowed them?

This thread isn't about achievements and I don't want to derail it, but it is of my opinion that the overall achievements system is a money maker for MSFT. Enough people out there will buy games simply to increase their score. Whether it's through renting or not, there's no such thing as free achievements. Hell, even DLC map packs have achievements now tied to the maps, like, "win a round of deathmatch on "X" map." 30 points.

I was an original beta tester for xbox live, I even have an acheievement for it. Yet nothing for me. Pretty weak

got the free KI and all characters email:p

MS done goofed again if just a select few are getting these gifts..

but you cant, its tied into the gamertag

Just received an email to my XBL assigned hotmail account, got excited and then seen it was an email entitled "LIMITED TIME FREE ACCESS TO LOCAL SLUTS!" I guess that ain't a code for KI :(

lol

Certainly not going to get *that* kind of multiplayer access for $59 a year.

I keep refreshing my Yahoo email. I think the fact that my email for XBL is Yahoo should show how long I've been a part of XBL; wayyyy back when Yahoo was cool. A piece of me dies inside after every page refresh.

Nothing here either. It shouldn't matter if i am a Gold member right now, right? I am...thanks to a 14 day XBL Gold card, but the Dashboard tells me to go Gold, sigh.

I'm not really sure, it's crazy that someone with almost a 11 year tenure wouldn't be considered a dedicated fan

Seems to be a few people that have chatted with MS support and they seem to be saying that these are being sent out in waves. This is just the first.

Yeah that was probably a poor choice of words for a giveaway that is probably at least somewhat random.

Do you guys ever receive emails from Xbox.com about anything? Cause i never do and i wonder if that's normal. You know like how some sites give you updates on things in your email and such? I only get mails from them after a transaction.

I get emails from them pretty regularly.
