The developer is not clearly against the game coming to consoles, the developer is clearly treading on eggshells around a PC community who is funding the game, of which the vast majority would be happy for the game never to see a console release.
Chris Roberts has on many occasions had the opportunity to just come out and say clearly that they won't release on console, instead he has never ruled out a console release, instead opting to say that the game will be made first and foremost for PC without ever designing with any limitations console may bring.
This console release argument has been raging since 2013 when a PS4 development kit was spotted on a devs desk in the studio.
As for the reddit post, this was snippets from a conversation a redditor had with two devs at the PC gamer show back in March, the devs have quite clearly been experimenting with seeing how the game would run on PS4, the edit comes from the poster trying to quell a backlash from PC gamers in the thread moaning about the game coming to console, and him saying in his opinion he thinks they meant it as "illustrating more of a technical craftmanship in place" quote lol.
As I say, Chris Roberts is relying on the PC community to bankroll the game and knows they don't want to see a console release for PC exclusivity reasons, he's been very careful to qualify a console release in the face of opposition from the majority of backers.
Here is Chris Roberts in his own words regarding a console release on the RSI forums bearing in mind what I said about the backers opposing a console release.

Some relevant snippets
: Star Citizen WILL NEVER COME TO X360/PS3
:He goes on to talk about high draw calls on Mantle (pre DX12 announcement) and says
" this is ironically the advantage next gen consoles have, so what is essentially a mid level PC of today (which are what the next gen consoles are) punches above its weight while Windows and direct X do a nice job of handicapping high end PC's
:If the platform holders Sony/MS allow us to update the code without restrictions and odious qc procedures, IF they allow our community to openly interact with each other, then I would consider supporting them.
WHY?
Because they are essentially inexpensive small form factor PC's with an operating system focused on gaming and who wouldn't want to see a bigger community of Star Citizens? If Sony and MS are willing to let their platform be open , then I see no difference between them and Valves Steam Box.
But this is a big if and it's asking a lot. To their credit, SONY seems to be the most eager to embrace indie games and openess, they chased us down TO GIVE US SOME DEV KITS TO PLAY WITH, BUT WE'VE BEEN CLEAR ON WHAT IT WOULD TAKE TO GET THE GAME ON PS4.
:So FEAR NOT, PC Is the platform of Star Citizen, anything else if it happens at all will be after the fact.
Anyone with half a brain can see that Chris Roberts wants this on console and is treading a fine line in that post leaving the door open for a console port but at the same time trying to placate his PC gaming paymasters. I'm also pretty sure he would love to get his hands on the many $100's of millions a console release would put straight into his pocket seeing as the game has already been financed by gamers and all future sales would essentialy be pure profit. Chris Roberts, Billionaire developer of Star Citizen sure would have a nice ring to it from his perspective.
I rest my case lol.
