Star Citizen

Are you being deliberately obtuse?
Turn it in you're boring me now and it's getting embarrassing. We'll see what's what over the next few years.
The developer's own words. There's nothing obtuse about it. They were very clear about consoles needing to become very open platforms before they would even consider it. They weren't speaking Mandarin.

So the definitive takeaway from this is that nobody really knows, perhaps even the developer himself. In fact, nobody can even really say which way the dev seems to be leaning.
There is a definitive answer. The developer said they wouldn't even consider it until Microsoft and Sony opened up their platforms a lot more like the PC. So until then, we know consoles are off the board.

But to be fair the most likely console to handle this game (Scorpio) is over a year off, so isn't this entire discussion a bit premature? Do we even know when Star Citizen will be released on PC?

It sounds like the only definitive answer is that it's a yes, or a no, depending on the ability and willingness of console makers to loosen up to the degree the developer wants, and whether the developer at that point would want to do so and risk angering a whole group of PC gamers, who are not exactly known for being slow to take the road to fury.

I therefore decree that nobody is right, and therefore everyone is wrong. Your penance is to imagine Oprah gathering all of us in a room and saying "You get a bag of dicks! And you get a bag of dicks! Bags of dicks for everyone!"

Well, I'm glad that's settled.

Roberts comments weren't about power. So I repeat, the developer said they would not even consider it until Microsoft and Sony opened up their platforms a lot more like the PC. So until then, we know consoles are off the board.

Right my comment wasn't about power, but philosophy. We've already seen mods come to consoles in the last year for FO4. Things seem to be moving that way little by little, don't you think?

No, your comment was about power, not philosophy. You said that Scorpio is most likely to handle running the game.

My point was that the Scorpio will be best suited technically and by that time many things can change. It doesn't matter, we will know for sure eventually.

I don't give a crap if Star Citizen comes to consoles or not. MMOs are for dorks.

"Many things can change by that time." That is a very empty, baseless non-answer. Especially in the face of the 20 odds years Sony and Microsoft have been in business never doing a single thing to make their platform more open for developers. To the contrary, Microsoft actually almost got away with completely locking down all games with the strictest of DRM.

Game is a mess/ripoff anywayz... maybe since they burned so many bridges with the PC community they will try and bring it to the consoles.

The developer's own words.

Ah yes, developers. The holy keepers of truth.

Sure. You can assume and speculate all you like. I just want to let it be known the developer has spoken against this and make sure people like Two Pennies Worth aren't pouring out lies to the uninformed about this game being confirmed for consoles with the game already running on PS4.

Yeah, I'm not taking either as gospel. I could care less what forum dwellers say, but in that same token, it carries about as much value as the developers themselves sadly.

The developer is being completely honest about this tho. If you have noticed, there are no leaks about this game running on consoles despite having +300 staff.

Really? How do you know he's being honest? Did you give him a lie detector? Or are we supposed to just take your word here for some reason? That's possibly the most naïve statement I've ever read on this forum.

Everyone lies, everyone does what it takes to make money sorry. In one year no one will give a flying fvck what he said about not coming to consoles.

Should I go through and post of up some of recent meltdowns of developers lying to fans? Those guys were "honest" too at some point, which was before they were lying. They weren't any leaks of dead rising coming to PC or TR to ps4. Those are just two from the top of my head.

Because..

That's why! But seriously, I don't get what you're Tomb Raider example was about. The developer confirmed a long time ago it was only a timed exclusive. Nothing to leak there.

"Because" lol ok yeah I'll take that as you don't even believe it.

There were threads all over the internet about TR and whether it would actually come to ps4 because of the verbiage used. Dozens. The point is there are plenty of other examples about developers blatantly lying left and right, but for some odd reason you trust this dude like you personally gave him a lie detector. He's like the holy messiah of game developers in your eyes.

Crystal Dynamics said there was a duration on the exclusivity back on Aug 2014. They didn't lie about anything.

Ok maybe they didn't lie, but they weren't completely forthcoming. There was an interview online were the president wouldn't directly answer the question about ps4, so there again, even when its obvious they are working on it, they either can't say anything or they won't. But there are tons of other examples I can bring up, huge deceptions if you want to debate the iron clad honesty of developers.

Should I post other examples then?

It's an exclusivity contract. It was completely normal. They didn't have an obligation to tell us, but they did anyways only two month after the E3 announcement of the game. It's an example of a big leak not kept under wraps because the developer came out and publicly told everybody.

Fine, let's just assume that then. Again, do you want me to post examples of blatant developer lies over the years? That's the point we're getting away from, developer's words mean zero.

That picture doesn't look a thing like Peter Molyneux (the obvious choice) or even Denis Dyack (the correct choice).
