The Official E3 2017 Thread

They did announce TLG a long time ago :tounge:

I don't know what good announcing Shenmue or FF even earlier wouild do when they are still probably years away as it is

I meant more that they're bringing us a game they could / should have brought 10 or more years ago.

I enjoy both consoles but right now fanboyism is in the Sony ring. Don't get me wrong I'm looking forward to Crackdown, Sea of Thieves, and probably another game or two I'm forgetting. But!

Halo - tired of the series
Gears - was never a fan although trying to get into the older games
Forza/Horizon - too many too often and I'm burned out

I do applaud their efforts for games like Quantum Break (amazing) and Recore (haven't played yet) but then games like Scalebound which I was really looking forward to dies. Sunset Overdrive is up there with Quantum Break as my favorite exclusive on the Xbox so far this gen. Outside of those games though I'm drawing a blank on exclusives that excite me. Others have stated older games like Kameo or Perfect Dark which I'd love to see come back but the chances are pretty slim. Sony on the other hand for me I'm having a hard time right now keeping up with exclusives that I am interested in. Maybe later half of this year will be dead but right now I'm swamped. Plus I have games from last year I didn't get to yet as I was more Xbox/PC focused at the time.

That said I do have faith in them with the Scorpio and hope for some new IPs they can launch along side of that. I'm guessing Crackdown and Sea of Thieves will be included so that will be a great start.

I'm calling it guys. Borderlands 3 and Half Life 3.
We will learn the Half Life rights have been sold so we will get a full series remaster. But the new dev doesn't want to do HL3 because they know they won't succeed so they decide to do a graphic novel instead.

This about sums it up for me. Love both consoles and wouldn't really change a thing about either one of them. They bring the perfect balance for my tastes. I'm almost glad when one console goes through a drought because i have enough of a backlog to last me years. Early this gen when PS4 was dry it gave me a chance to play all the great X1 games coming out. Now i'm overwhelmed with all the games the PS4 is getting while things are slow on X1. Keep 'em coming!

I agree they need more new IP, but you can't expect MS to deep dive into new games that didn't set the world on fire either. It's a two way street, and the most effective communication is sales.

Why not? Sony does it constantly and they are able to resonate with gamers a lot more. Catering to only the mainstream audience is not how you run a console buisness. 3A niche titles are important too You gotta be willing to take losses and see how things turn out. . The more groups of people they cater too the stronger Xbox brand gets. Why do you think Sony is wlling to take losses for a small crowd?

Yeah....this is bulls***. Halo, Gears and Forza are still very much juggernaut franchises. We dont know the numbers of the most recent releases, but there's a reason why these titles still make a huge splash with every release. This believing that MS are using these 3 to "save" them is ridiculous. They're BILLION dollar franchises, FFS. Do you really believe its because no one wants them any more, or that their old and washed out? lol.

And again, the narrative has changed since the Playstation wont have the power advantage any more. Funny that, seeing as how that is all this generation has been about while at the same time, exclusives "didn't matter." Now that Playstation is finally seeing a big release again (Horizon is ONE game), exclusives are all the rage when at the beginning, it was all about 3rd party games. MS has had many exclusives since the beginning of this gen with more on the way not to mention 3rd party games.

I'm just as intrigued by Horizon as everyone else, but its ONE game. Hell, I even stated how I was jealous of Playstation gamers for Horizon - it looks phenomenal. But one game does not an end of a console make. Especially considering this year is all about Scorpio and will remain that way until it releases. Opinions are one thing -- radical opinions are something else.

So much fail in that post I don't even know where to began. lol

I'm not saying Sony is going to do that. But they could have announced TLG / Shenmue 3 / a FF remake a long ass time ago, and honestly, your quote says exactly my point: "FF is seen as a Sony franchise." It's not, but it's perceived that way because #SonyFACTs.

Exactly that's Sony's advantage...

I'm not satisfied with Microsoft as far as games go. But who knows what they have up their sleeve as far as games go in the future.
Sequels to Kameo and LO2? Really? I would hope they would do better than that.
All I'm saying is we keep hearing Microsoft needs to do this or that or they need a big E3. Microsoft can have their biggest E3 ever and yet people will still call it s***.

Logically they'll have 2 or 3 juggernauts we dindn't know about plus Forza and I gurantee atleast 1 scheduled for the next yearlol

LO was arguably the best JRPG last gen and sold 2 million copies. If done properly Kameo 2 would be dope. Imagine if they had more of an adult Kameo without kiddy gameplay. The main propaganist would look something like this.

kameo22.jpg
.

Not really if they turn things around gamers would show them a tone of respect. No one is against MS they just wan't better. lol[/QUOTE]

I said deep dive. I expect they could well do it for games that don't cost as much to make. ReCore is a good example. It just came out not long ago. I mean to get it later, as I actually quite liked the demo.

Sony pays for the baseball license and they release MLB every year despite losing a tone of money. Do you honestly think Sony wouldd take huge losses without benefits?

Recore needed .an AAA budget and more time in the oven. It would easily be competition against Ratchet & Clank but as usual MS playing it safe.

Why would someone want Kameo 2 that barely resembles Kameo?

Me and good ole Zero-O don't agree on much. But I think he's right here. Microsoft needs to give new franchises a chance to grow their user base. Too many one and done franchises. Plus a lot of interesting concepts from their catalog from Xbox OG on up that never got a second green light.

Why make Phantom Dust HD and Voodoo Vince remaster when you could find creative teams to make new games in the series?

I mean personally, I'd rather have great new IP's over those two. But they do play things too safe sometimes.

But I think their biggest problem is that they have an identity and perception issue. Imagine if Microsoft released Splatoon. It probably would have been s*** on instead of being well received.

Do they HAVE to be new franchises though? Sony does a number of one and dones as well. I think it's more important that they have quality permanent teams that we can expect good games from regardless of whether it's a new franchise or not. Not every good game has to have a 2nd and third game.

I also see people complain about tired franchises and then bitch about one and dones. I mean, how can MS possibly get a feel for what people want if they complain about everything?

LO was a great game but it's not going to move any hardware

I think that's his point.

It's not a series I'm interested in at all. But it could be an important game in their portfolio to attract a certain group of gamers.
His point is Microsoft keeps tripping over their dick. I don't believe that. Do I wish Microsoft had the developers like Sony? Hell yes! Sony is cranking out some gems.

Wel, some people are going to more pessimistic and dismissive of all things Microsoft. But it doesn't mean they're wrong.

Some people like Jrpg's. Why would they get an Xbox?

I can agree with this.

Here's my whole outlook on this stupid dick waving war, Sony with it's games and the Pro is second to none. My son prefers to play that than his Xbox and actually I can see why. Microsoft has this new "most powerful" console coming out and who knows what games( new I.p.'s) are coming to the Xbox family. So to people saying Microsoft needs to do this or that or have the biggest E3 ever is ridiculous. They seem to be doing just fine.

Let's be real though. Microsoft needs to step it up. Don't invest in something if your heart isn't in it. When i buy a console i want new IPs but i also want stability. Sony does a much better job at creating and pushing franchises forward. People see that, so naturally PS consoles have always outsold the competition. For a company with supposedly no money, why are they taking the most chances?

It would have been easy to give up on Killzone after it tanked on PS2 but Guerrilla came back and made a showcase game for the PS3 with Killzone 2. Now it didn't do well on PS4 but it was time for something new anyway. Now we get another mega franchise in Horizon. Microsoft needs to trust their devs, and invest in new projects that they plan on supporting for the entire gen.

Might help them shift more than 500 units in Japan...

I am not all that hyped for E3. Yes, Scorpio is nice and all but it isnt a new gen console and thus hype is low.

Only thing I am excited about is RDR2, but that isn't likely to be at E3.

yeah... 550....maybe.

At this point it's do or die for Microsoft. They need to have a showing that no one is expecting. Sony has already announced so many games they could literally show 1 or 2 bangers and win E3.

People that think Sony ran out of ammo will be sadly mistaken. Yoshida has already mention they have Big new IP's ready for E3 2017 (adding to the onslaught of games already announced.) .

Funny how people make stuff up. I can do that too:
