Which 4K HDR TV are you planning to buy for Scorpio or One s?

No it doesn't.
HDMI 2.1 4K/120hz for example
HDR 10+ for another

Bravo to Samsung for the update.
I meant HDR in game mode and getting notifications when it's enabled. Also don't have the bugs listed.

Wtf ? My 2016 ks8500 already does all of this. HDR in game mode is also pretty low latency. Is this for the M series TVs?

Have you updated it recently? If not then I wouldn't.

-They took out the HDR pop-up notification thing several firmware updates ago. I'm totally okay with this to be honest as I already know when the media is going to be HDR, seems redundant.

-I'm not sure if it's exactly the same from tv to tv but on my KS9000 when I'm in gamemode and an HDR source is introduced, it does switch to an HDR profile settings, but the actual Backlight setting (which needs to be at 20 for HDR) doesn't change (I have it on 10 normally) and people need to manually change it. My contrast and brightness are the same across all of my profiles so I'm not sure if that was an issue for me. My work around is to simply keep my backlight at 20 always, but then non-HDR games are retina melting bright for no good reason.

-I don't have the audio sync thingor any issue calibrating, I assume it's a bug that maybe comes and goes for some people. Actually, my audio is handled via my Xbox One's and bypassed from the TV, into my soundbar via optical, so maybe thats why I've never had that issue.

-I see the screen brightness fluctuation thing on rare ocassions, sometimes when changing from scene to scene it'll start dim, then pop up bright for a millisecond or something. I've never seen it while gaming, generally if it happens, it's usually when I'm watching a Comcast movie or sometimes in Netflix and might happen once or twice for a stupid short amount of time.

I could be wrong, but I think the older firmware from around the time I got the TV, I could've sworn the HDR backlight setting switching in game mode worked fine.

I'm really glad they're doing this. I was sitting here all year contemplating selling my KS or trying to find some way to trade-in and upgrade lol.

Should we create a sound thread next? I’m now in the same place with sound that I was with TVs a year ago. I’m going to cancel my SJ9 soundbar. My brother upgraded his sound system and gave me his old receiver and 2 speakers. I figure even if I replace his receiver, I’m still ahead and could get more sound for the $700 the sound bar cost. They’re older but they were solid Inifinity speakers for their time. Long term I’ll look to get an Atmos receiver and tweaters. For now need to add center and sub woofer.

What a rollercoaster. But literally 5 minutes ago, I finally scored the Sony 65X900E from Costco Canada online.

It went like this:

- Turns out Best Buy and Costco started selling their stuff early today
- Costco's "come back Nov 24" was BS. They started doing their online deals early today
- Costco ended up having the TV on deal for $1,900 (like everyone else)..... then I got home from work..... sold out
- Turns out Best Buy had an early bird online special. Buy it before 9 pm and get a 10% gift card. So that's like an extra $190. It was in stock
- Was thinking about it as I still want Costco's warranty, and Best Buy's similar multi year warranty is $450!
- Decided to just do it at BB at about 8 pm and skip the extra warranty.... sold out now!
- Midnight came around and BB now has it in stock for the start of BF (but no more gift card bonus)
- Forget it.... I'll wait for Costco
- Decided to do a random check before bed and it's now available again! Bought it, the $99 extra 3 year warranty, and the net price is still cheaper than BB if I did similar extended warranties

....... but bad news..... it's on 2-3 week back order!

Oh well. At least I got it where I wanted and the price I wanted. And done online so no need to line up and haul it into my bro's van.

Costco is a weird site. When the product is out of stock, the product disappears from the site. But I decided to do a Google search and found the TV's actual web page link, which came up fine and allowed me to buy it on backorder.

So someone using the site normally would never see the listing. You needed to find the actual product link.

That is a good tv. I almost bought it in 49" since it was the highest rated tv in that size this year.

What settings do you use when playing in hdr like colour and sharpness and stuff

What settings do you use when playing in hdr like colour and sharpness and stuff

On my Samsung I generally avoid messing with sharpness all together as a rule of thumb, I prefer to keep it au naturale. I know on some sets, 50/100 is the au naturale setting and 0 would be blurry but thats not the case on any of the Samsungs I've ever touched, but overall, if you're playing 4k stuff with HDR, it's not going to add anything good to the mix. If you're playing lower res stuff, a little maybe wouldn't be out of the question.

I'm not saying it's for everyone but these are my Game Mode 4k HDR settings:

Backlight 20
Brightness 47
Contrast 90
Sharpness 0
Color 47
-
Smart LED High
Dynamic Contrast High
ColorTone Warm2
Gamma -1
ColorSpace Native

I lifted random white balance settings from somewhere online.

I'm not sure if all games need the Dynamic Contrast on High, but Horizon 3 looks a bit dim without it; other games don't react the same. You do lose some detail with it on though so most would recommend off in most other circumstances.

They do small tweaks to color and balance with some patches though so it's always worth coming back and being willing to change settings later.

Yeah, I don't ever use tv audio if I can help it. It definitely still gives me the pop-up for HDR. I like it. I can't say I've noticed any brightness issues like flicker, but I have a pretty high tolerance for bugs unless they are persistent.

No regrets on my 65” B7. This is the most I’ve wanted to play single player games and watch movies in a long time due to the image quality.

Already cooking crock pot meals and decided I’m going to keep driving my car with 190K miles on it a few more months instead of get a new one like planned. Figure a few months of frugality will justify going for broke on this thing.

with hdmi 2.1 now certified i think ill wait for the 2018 models just to future proof myself a bit.

I was planning on waiting for that too, but bit the bullet.

For me, it's all about the VRR feature to make gaming smoother, but Xbox X seems to be pretty good frame rate wise, so probably not as important as during the 360/One OG days.

Still waiting on my 900E...called them up today and they told me it was still back ordered because they sold more then they anticipated during the Black Friday days...at 600 dollars less Sony, you should of figured that lol...oh well,my 1080p set still looks good...I am going to have a hard time selling it though, especially if I dont feel like putting it up on Kijiji(people calling, strangers coming in the house etc etc...)

So I went to get my Sony 900E today.
Was told thw earliest I could get it is in 2 weeks. Faaaaaaq.
So I ended up breaking the bank and getting a 65" Samsung QF7.
Colours are freaking amazing.
Has 10 milliseconds less input lag too compared to the Sony.
I was really worried about blacks and contrast as its edge lit but they look beautiful. Plus it goes 500 nits brighter too.

The q series get a bum rap. I like they are stunning TVs even if they are edge lit. The colors pop more on those than the Sonys imo.

HUGELY DISAPPOINTED today. Can see obvious banding while watching soccer and hockey matches. I would not recomend at all. $1000 more in price and inferior to the Sony 900E.
Taking it back tomorrow and Ill have to be patient and wait out Sony order.

Well.. despite the huge savings I spent a lot more on a tv than I had originally planned. Got a 75" Sony 900E today.
My wife seems ok so far but she may be playing cool and planning to murder me in my sleep tonight. If you never hear from me again, know that I was the victim of a crime of passion. A three way love triangle between a man, a woman and a tv.

Damn! That’s a lot of high quality TV!

So happy with the Sony 900E now. The colours are vibrant but not so much that they look fake like the Samsung Q7F. I watched Champions League match today and didn't see any hints of banding and the upscaling was better.

Best Buy in Edmonton alone had 580 65" 900Es on back order.

Finally shipped on Tuesday. Coming from Alberta. Should be here by early next week.

MFW I boot up Insects for the first time and see that I don’t have HDR enabled on my receiver and haven’t been getting HDR this while time :meh:
