Microsoft At E3 2018

There's a rumor going around, but it's thin. Paper thin in fact but...

According to a member over on Era, he's supposedly found documents (public knowledge ) hinting to a few acquisitions. PGG being one, and another perhaps being Remedy. Not quite sure how the story breaks down but the thread exists. Like I said though, its paper thin. But there are moderators on the forum who are trying to back the claims now.
Well, even if MS did buy Remedy, the P7 game would still be multiplatform I assume, so it would be another Minecraft scenario on the PS4.

He also made the claim of DMC 5 being exclusive which is a tough one to believe

Also he is banned

I'd really like to hear Crytek and Remedy to go along with PGG as far as acquisitions go. I'm not completely dismissing a major get just yet either, like EA, Capcom or Sega. I think this E3, Microsoft got themselves a few plugs to end that "no games" stigma, once and for all.

They aren't buying EA and you probably shouldn't want them to

There's also word of another Halo game called, Halo Infinity to be shown at E3. This doesn't sound like a rumor. Sounds legit. I can't post the link though, my phone sucks balls. ..

It appears Microsoft is aiming for developers, not publishers. I’d expect a few smaller studios to be bought because with Game Pass, they’ll need to fill the gaps between AAA releases.

Probably not EA (not that I see anything wrong with it. ) but Sega or Capcom would do nicely enough. I'm predicting one major plug at E3. Only a few days to go!

I don't even know what value Sega would bring other than just re-releasing old games on Game Pass. Its just Sonic and a bunch of really good Japanese games that Microsoft isn't going to want.

They really don't need to make that big of a splash to right their first party ship.

I was keeping my hype levels in check for this E3 but that thread over at Era really has me hyped now....

No, but I wouldn't mind seeing them bring back AAA remakes Sega RPGs like Skies of Arcadia, Shining Force, or Phantasy Star.

I agree that Sonic is pretty well played out, but I guess they could use a mascot... even a blue one. I can't think of much beyond RPGs worth reviving.

Phil mentioned that they are putting considerable effort into getting some Japanese games on the Xbox not long ago. Microsoft may not want them , apparently the fans do. Sega could help with that. I'm either way on Japanese games, personally. Not really a fan other than traditional RPG's (which I NEVER finish.. )

Capcom has a few interesting titles to being to the fray. Really sounds like MS is in for developers though, not publishers so much.

Getting certain Japanese games on Xbox makes sense but getting them exclusive may not. Games like Persona and Yakuza have to be on Playstation.

Well, Microsoft IS a publisher.

Did he say that? I remember him saying that they are supporting their Japanese partners...but that could mean anything.

Wouldn't Sonic turn GREEN tho?!

What are the odds that we see at LEAST a teaser for Halo 6, and it debuts in 2019? I mean, it has to be pretty good, right? Halo 5 was teased at E3 2013. It's been 5 years since a new Halo tease has come out.
I will be very disappointed if I get no Halo 6 news...

Dont know if it will be 6 but I am sure we are getting a halo announcement. Also this Gears XCOM-like spin off rumors have me giddy.

Matt hasn't been banned though. Like I said, he's reporting four studios all ready and "more."
He also made the claim of DMC 5 being exclusive which is a tough one to believe

Also he is banned

Just to clear things up a bit, Matt -- who is an insider and a moderator -- said "More" to this comment by another member:

If it's equity, Playground wouldn't be part of Microsoft Studios. If it's a full ownership deal, Microsoft Studios have added 3(4) studios in the last couple of months.
- Avatars Studios Redmond
- Xbox Santa Monica
- Playground Forza Horizon
- Playground Fable

So it's at least one more studio than those.

Another poster claimed a bunch of other stuff, including that DMC V was Xbox exclusive. He couldn't back it up, and he got banned.

Rumor roundup:

"The rumours are as follows:

1. MS purchased Playground
1a - Forza Horizon inhouse now
1b - rumoured Fable game from second studio

2. MS is purchasing two more studios
2a - US based (anyone who has a good working relationship with MS has been named, essentially; Undead Labs seems to be rumour frontrunner)
2b - Canadian team (many assume it would be Studio MDHR, but Capcom Vancouver has also been floated around)

3. Santa Monica stuff if you missed it before (new studio, headed by Darrell Gallaghar, no projects hinted at yet)

4. Three new Gears games in the works
4a - An X-Com style game
4b - A spinoff series (speculation is a horror game or a battleroyal)
4c - A full-on sequel

5. Halo Infinity (could be Halo 6, could be a spin-off, though the spin-off is likely the recently announced arcade experience, unless there's something else)

6. Klobrille is going silent until the show and Matt (I think) simply responded "more" to the studio acquisition thread.

I think that's it. Some DMC5 exclusivity talks, but I think that was squashed."

I say this as a gamer since NES that has played countless hours of Sega/Capcom games.....owning those 2 companies would bring very little value to the Xbox brand.

Isn't this guy supposed to be a hype man for XBox? What's with the tempered pre E3 tweet?
No. No, he isn't.. Not sure why people have been saying that pre-E3, all of the sudden. He works for Windows Central. I've never seen him as a "hype man for Xbox". Ever.

I could never get into Fable. Now with Witcher and Dark Souls it seems the market has even less of a need for fantasy RPG's but......I'm sure there are some fans here that will be excited for an announcement.
