Microsoft At E3 2018

I could never get into Fable. Now with Witcher and Dark Souls it seems the market has even less of a need for fantasy RPG's but......I'm sure there are some fans here that will be excited for an announcement.

Fable isn't really like those games it has a lot more personality. Hopefully the next one will keep the charm and humor while still making it a true open world instead of small hubs connected by narrow paths that you can't venture off of. I also hope they tighten up the gameplay a bit, still even with those issues the series has been a favorite of mine on Xbox since the first one came out.

Rumor roundup:

"The rumours are as follows:

1. MS purchased Playground
1a - Forza Horizon inhouse now
1b - rumoured Fable game from second studio

2. MS is purchasing two more studios
2a - US based (anyone who has a good working relationship with MS has been named, essentially; Undead Labs seems to be rumour frontrunner)
2b - Canadian team (many assume it would be Studio MDHR, but Capcom Vancouver has also been floated around)

3. Santa Monica stuff if you missed it before (new studio, headed by Darrell Gallaghar, no projects hinted at yet)

4. Three new Gears games in the works
4a - An X-Com style game
4b - A spinoff series (speculation is a horror game or a battleroyal)
4c - A full-on sequel

5. Halo Infinity (could be Halo 6, could be a spin-off, though the spin-off is likely the recently announced arcade experience, unless there's something else)

6. Klobrille is going silent until the show and Matt (I think) simply responded "more" to the studio acquisition thread.

I think that's it. Some DMC5 exclusivity talks, but I think that was squashed."

The Undead Labs one could be interesting. They have always said they wanted to make State of Decay into an MMO. With Microsoft owning them perhaps they would be able to expand quicker and get the funding needed for such a project.

At this point I am expecting their show to be

A lot of 3rd party games
Crackdown
Ori 2
Sea of Thieves DLC
Halo 6
Gears spin off
Forza Horizon 4
Announce the Playground purchase + announce that they started on Fable

Does Sony/Nintendo/MS ever announce when they purchase companies at their E3 shows? Maybe it will just be some side news?

If that is what they show at E3 that you listed above, that would be pretty depressing. I want Halo 6 and FH4. But on the fence with Crackdown 3.

I honestly can't see how MS beat last years show. Unless they show new hardware?

Game wise:

Crackdown 3 needs to be shown SP improved and the MP done
Halo 6
New PD game
New Fable
Below
Gears new spin off
Forza Horizons 4

3rd Party Exclusives

I wouldn't think it would be an E3 type announcement and I have no idea how long it would take for it to be finalized but if the timing works out where you can announce it on stage there wouldn't be any reason not to. Plus it becomes much more reasonable to make an early Fable announcement.

From a game standpoint it should be very easy to beat it

I want Below to be available during the conference.

I'm pretty sure Halo 6 is off the table this year. I don't suspect even a teaser will be shown, if 343i is to be believed. But they did say that there will be some kind of Halo news. Perhaps Halo Infinity.

I will be reboadcasting live for MS E3. Maybe other on my channel.

Mixer
Twitch
YouTube

The chat will be universal so no matter where you watch it everyone will be in the same chat.
No idea what you are broadcasting.

Well it's pretty much what we all going to see but I am trying to keep it together just for us so we don't through like 1000 post.

Instead Hedon, I am going to keep all of us together so no matter which stream you pick you will still be with UnionVGF.com crew in a chat room.

Just trying to make it easy for everyone.

How and where do you do that, and how do we get there? Is there any loss of quality?

This makes no sense. Dark souls is not a fantasy RPG. Even if they were dropping Witcher games every year (which they aren't) there is more than enough room for multiple RPGs. Once there is a popular game in a genre everybody else should just stop making games in those genres ??

Pillars of Eternity, Divinity 2, ESO, Guild Wars 2, New Dragon Age?, just DND in general. Fantasy RPG will never die.

Come on you got to give me a little props. I have been streaming a lot on both twitch and mixer at the same time. Once in a while I also add YouTube with no quality lost as all.

Yes dark souls is a fantasy rpg

Sure what I meant was its a different kind of RPG..

It's pretty much the opposite kind of RPG as Fable. Fable is light, comic fantasy, colorful and easy. Dark Souls is dark fantasy, grim, grey, and hard.

Actually. The market is very much in need of them. Both those games you mentioned are done. Witcher has been put on a hiatus and Dark Souls is finished.

I wasn't dissing Fable, it just wasn't my thing. My perception is probably off because it's not a genre I've every cared to play that much. Just seems like when Fable came out there wasn't much else besides like a clunky Morrowind game. All this time later it just *feels* like there are a ton more fantasy RPG games. Witcher, Oblivion, all those Dragon Age games, etc.

But hey the more the better for fans of the genre. Ya'll best buy Fable if MS is finally going to release it lol

We can keep this thread going. We'll open a separate thread for the press conference.

That could be said for just about every genre though couldn't it? How many military themed FPS do we have? Sci fi games? racing games? Japanese rpgs? fighting games? I know it's easy to dismiss games when they are in a genre you don't spend much time playing, if it's not something you really follow it's easy to say "oh those are all the same" and most of us are probably guilty of doing that at some point but Fable is nothing like any of those other games.

No. No, he isn't.. Not sure why people have been saying that pre-E3, all of the sudden. He works for Windows Central. I've never seen him as a "hype man for Xbox". Ever.

Didn't he say Sea of Thieves was going to be 2018s PUBG?

He works for Microsoft so there's always a pro XBox spin on his tweets.

I would agree that he is biased enough that I would take any hype from with a grain of salt but he doesn't work for Microsoft.
