The 2017/2018 NBA Season Thread

Jordan couldn't play against the greatest team of all time because he made his team the greatest team of all time.

Poor Lebron has to be play with guys like Tristan Thompson and JR Smith.........oh wait Lebron made them pay those guys.

Poor Lebron they wouldn't trade the Nets pick to help them now............oh wait that is because they know Lebron is leaving to try and form his next super team

Poor Lebron doesn't have Kryie..........oh wait that is because he ran him out of town

and if it wasn’t for Ray Allen they would have lost to the Spurs. But LBJ GOAT though...

LeBron has won championships without Ray Allen.

Jordan never could win a championship without Pippen.

Either way, you don't evaluate a players talent based on the number of chips they have.

If you worked for Duke and you told coach K "We have to recruit this kid because his high school team won 2 state championships" you'd be laughed out of the room. The kid needs to have the characteristics and attributes necessary to succeed against better players.

Same goes for NBA scouting. No one drafts kids based on whether or not their team won the tournament.

The last bastion of the Jordan defense force do this because it's the only leg they have to stand on. The defense most 3rd graders use to say who the best player is.

Don't use the same strategy that elementary students use.

PS: MVP Derrick Rose shot 6.3% when guarded by LeBron in the 2011 ECF. Let us know when Jordan shut down an MVP in similar manner.

The discussion isn't who's the best GM. It's who's the best player.

At least GM LeBron won some titles. What has GM Jordan accomplished with the Hornets again?

Being a less than great team isn't an excuse if its your fault.

If the Bulls fell apart because Jordan wanted to get his friends paid then I would blame him but that didn't happen

Some people that were too young to see Jordan will say Lebron is the GOAT

Some people that just don't know anything about basketball will say Lebron is the GOAT

Some that just want to troll will say Lebron is the GOAT

Everyone else knows the truth. Jordan is the GOAT and its not even close. Case closed.

You are aware Jordan has a 1- 9 playoff record without Pippen right? LeBron takes garbage to the Finals. Jordan took garbage to the lottery/1st round exits.

Jordan played on teams loaded with talent and was coached by one if the best coaches in all of sports.

Lebron is a better scorer. A better passer. A better rebounder. A better defender. A better teammate. A better person.

He's the best basketball player of all time.

Excluding his rookie season and the season he came back late, Jordan's Bulls were eliminated from the playoffs by Larry Bird's Celtics and the Bad Boy Pistons teams. Certainly nothing of the ilk of building a super team and losing to Dirk and friends. LBJ's record would be a lot worse if he had to face teams on the level of the Bird Celtics or the Bad Boys (or both!) before getting a chance to take on the West.

Now, LBJ is good, and an all-time great, but he's no Jordan, and the only reason he takes garbage to the finals is because he's going against garbage before the finals too.

Well, Reggie Miller was the GOAT, but Jordan wasn't bad. (Okay, I am a Pacer fan and I gave up on the league when Reggie retired. Obviously Jordan is the goat. I'd accept arguments for Oscar, maybe Wilt, maybe Bird or Magic, but I begrudgingly give it to MJ).

I wasn’t even a Jordan fan growing up. My favorite player to watch was Reggie Miller. That dude was clutch and was a lot of fun to watch.

Its a shame Bill Russell is never included in these GOAT conversations.

Jordan was my favorite player growing up. I had posters of him on my wall as a kid.

But facts are facts.

Lebron is simply better.

I'm assuming you're an older guy who glorifies the mystique of Jordan. "They don't make music like they used to anymore".

Don't trust old guys who are pro Jordan.
Don't trust young guys who are pro LeBron.

Facts are facts.

Can’t take you seriously.

Sports media across the country from then till now know who the GOAT is. NBA players know who the GOAT is. Ex-NBA players know who the GOAT is. Even LeBron knows who the GOAT is. And then there is you.....

I've given all you guys day to formulate some kind of cohesive argument and, with all your brains combined all you could come up with is...

- Jordan has more chips.

- The media tells me so.

Come on son, step yo game up!

I’m not wasting my time coming up with a long argument for someone that obviously has no clue what they’re talking about or is trolling. MJ will always be the GOAT.

It doesn't have to be long, just give me something that is relavent. If Jordan was the GOAT (he ain't) you shouldn't have to rack your brain to come up with something.

Oh, and here's some more evidence in favor of Lebron...

TLDR: The NBA has far more talent today than it did in the 90s
