That Huckleberry tweet shows how the entire party thinks - everyone is 100% equal and the only thing keeping one person from wealth is hard work.

It is the biggest line of BS that they sell to middle class and lower income white people and they still believe it. Trust us and we'll give you a few crumbs we have left!

I consider myself so fortunate to have had the opportunities I had and more importantly, that I hit the job market before the GOP had picked it clean like a vulture pecking at a corpse. I feel so bad for the younger generation. Some of us are sorry. We tried. 2 terms of Obama. In hindsight we were incredibly lucky to have gotten that.

I chat with the Security guards where I work and they're getting screwed over at different levels. Upper Management screwed up so they're pinching pennies. They gave the security guard contract to another company and are reducing their pay and hours. The most competent worker is a young guy who will be laid off and I think he's already gone. That alone tells how much Meritocracy is bulls***.

Another guard who is older than me is thinking of trying out for the Truck Driving company I work for. I think currently he makes less than $12 an hour and of course just short of being full-time.

This last example is very common for people of different backgrounds who are looking everywhere for a second career opportunity. They go to truck driving school and kind of become nomads traveling the country without much home life. I know I've been there and it sucks.

I don't get why companies are so cheap when it comes to security guards, if you want someone who's willing to possibly put his life on the line to protect your employees and even just your property you should want to pay him/her well and not just find the cheapest contractor you can find who gives their employees virtually no incentive to do more than just show up and do the bare minimum to collect a check.

It just shows the terrible under-employment that never shows up in the economic numbers. Sure at least most people seem to have a "job" but it is clear nobody can get ahead.

The money never trickles down.

To add insult, the company just spent a bunch of money building a brand new break room for their workers, but they don't care about the contractors like the security guards.

I'm kind of a contract service to, but make more money because I work hard in their unpaved pothole ridden yard and all the truckers that come here are in disbelief that a yard can be in such disrepair.

Our location is in Wisconsin near Lake Michigan, so I wonder if they keep upper management pay strong so they can afford upkeep for yachts docked in the harbor.

These companies treat people like we treat buying gas - when we fill our car's gas tank we just look for the cheapest price. The gas is the same no matter the brand.

That's how they see people. Homogeneous and interchangeable. Just pay them barely enough so they won't steal stuff.

Often times companies don't even pay enough to stop people from taking things, it's sad. They'll have conservative owners who spend millions in political donations to republicans to keep their taxes lower just so they can pay the people who keep their company up and running like s***. There is no way a company should be able to pay so little that their employees who work still need government benefits to get by, it's morally criminal.

The Trump administration has drafted legislation that would empower the president to ignore international trade rules set by the World Trade Organization, Axios said. It would essentially allow President Donald Trump to unilaterally raise tariffs without the approval of Congress.

It is called "United States Fair and Reciprocal Tariff Act," but many are simply calling it the "FART Act," including former members of the White House and journalists on Twitter.

Trump Judicial Pick Who Blogged Favorably About the KKK Had to Withdraw. Now He’s at the Justice Department.
Brett Talley had already been voted out of the Senate Judiciary Committee and was on his way to a lifetime appointment to the federal bench when reporters discovered what he’d written about the Klan. Since 2005, Talley, a 36-year-old lawyer nominated for a seat on the US District Court for the Middle District of Alabama, appeared to have posted more than 16,000 comments on a University of Alabama sports message board TideFans.com. Writing as BamainBoston, he commented on everything from race to abortion. He disparaged Muslims, joked about statutory rape, and, most notably, wrote approvingly about Nathan Bedford Forrest, the first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. He defended the “first KKK” as something entirely different from the racist, violent organization it’s known as today.
After outcry about the comments and his general lack of qualifications for the job—Talley had never tried a case—he withdrew from consideration for the judgeship in December. But the controversy didn’t send him packing to Alabama. Instead, he simply continued working as deputy associate attorney general at the US Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Policy, where he oversaw the judicial nominations unit that advises the president and attorney general on the selection and confirmation of federal judges and conducts the vetting, interviewing, and evaluating of nominees. This spring, he moved to a more junior position at the Justice Department, as an assistant US attorney.
President Donald Trump has submitted 95 judicial nominations since Talley withdrew his own; 22 of those nominees have been confirmed. Among the 95 nominees are controversial picks such as Wendy Vitter, wife of the disgraced former Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) and a staunch anti-abortion activist, and Oregon prosecutor Ryan Bounds, who wrote a series of articles while at Stanford mocking multiculturalism and advocating for leniency for alleged campus rapists. Talley headed the Justice Department unit that helped select and vet many of those nominees.
Liberal legal groups that monitor judicial nominations were surprised to hear that Talley continued working at the Justice Department after his confirmation debacle. “That Talley was in charge of picking nominees might explain why the quality has been so low and their views so extreme,” says Caroline Fredrickson, president of the nonprofit American Constitution Society. “He obviously thought of himself as a good candidate and helped pick others in the same mold.”
Even before Talley’s Klan defense posts became public, he had an unusual resume for someone vying for a federal judgeship. Talley, who also writes horror novels, had been an amateur ghost-hunter for a number of years in Alabama. After graduating from Harvard Law School in 2007, he practiced law for less than three years and never tried a case.

US Chamber of Commerce (big time GOP donors) are launching attack ads against Trump and his tariffs

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the nation’s largest business group and customarily a close ally of President Donald Trump’s Republican Party, is launching a campaign on Monday to oppose Trump’s trade tariff policies.

With some of America’s tightest trading partners imposing retaliatory measures, Trump’s approach to tariffs has unsettled financial markets and strained relations between the White House and the Chamber.

The new campaign, detailed first to Reuters, is an aggressive effort by the business lobbying giant. Using a state-by-state analysis, it argues that Trump is risking a global trade war that will hit the wallets of U.S. consumers.

“The administration is threatening to undermine the economic progress it worked so hard to achieve,” said Chamber President Tom Donohue in a statement to Reuters. “We should seek free and fair trade, but this is just not the way to do it.”

The Chamber, which has 3 million members, historically has worked closely with Republican presidents and praised Trump for signing business tax cuts in December. But mounting trade tensions have opened a rift with the president.

Incredibly interesting read. I'm curious about who's she's talking about. I'll have to read it a few more times to see if there's any solid hints in there.

She probably doesn't have any hints. I stumbled on the site last week and it's got some really good reads on the Mueller stuff.

It appears Jim Jordan was a "look the other way" kind of guy when he was an assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State. He didn't say anything when he knew the team doctor was molesting and raping students. Good ol' Jim Jordan.

He founded the freedom caucus after ensuring the doctor was free to put his cauc in us.

The thing about the book just shows how unhinged he really is. The ghost writer who actually wrote his book (it is really rare that any celeb actually writes any of their books) came out many times over the years to debunk this.

I mean this is just a pathological liar. Does he even know he is lying at this point or is he living in his delusion?

This was back before the election (and people still voted for him.)

Just a reminder for tomorrow :)

I think Jones misunderstood the many public calls for civility.

That guy is such an ass and the fact that anyone believe a word he says is sad. I know he's a fraud and all about self promotion but trying to get his paranoid and likely well armed fans worked up about the "lefties" starting a civil war on the noisiest day of the year is like yelling fire in a crowded room, if anyone does get hurt because of this he should be held accountable.
