According to a source with knowledge of the congressional investigations, at least one oligarch was ushered into Statuary Hall in the U.S. Capitol for the traditional Inaugural Day luncheon, hosted by the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies – an event typically out of reach to donors and even most rank-and-file members of Congress.
The Trump inauguration brought in more than $107 million, double the amount of President Obama, to finance a week of festivities that was filled with far fewer events than past inaugurations – only three Presidential balls.

.....
Invited guests also included since-departed White House aide Steve Bannon and campaign advisor and Cambridge Analytica CEO Alexander Nix, both of whom have since been questioned in the Special Counsel’s probe.

Lol, I love Sean Hannity. To the rest of the world, these goals would seem like a logical progression for their society...

That, and his profile photos on social media are typical of every blonke on Tinder who is approaching 60. "Yeah, this is a pretty recent photo of me..."

We have an insane fixation on Rugged Individualism here wrapped inside a hardcore idea of Meritocracy while not willing to admit Luck or Chance play a big factor in people's lives. The people that do achieve great success and wealth then become highly resentful that the government should take and funnel any of their money to make life easier for other Americans.

This view is even shared by many in what remains of the Middle Class. This might be that they see the Super Rich as job creators and the government taxing them hinders the ability of the very wealthy to create jobs, never mind that many jobs now turn out to be low wage Retail/Service/Warehouse jobs. I think they also believe in their success coming from their individual Merit and not from outside assistance.

The weirdest part of this is I think the money is out there because I think we're seeing Robber Baron Philanthropy where millions or even billions are donated to charity by the very wealthy into their private charities. I guess they would rather do this out of a sense or control of what their money does or perhaps it feeds their egos when their name is stamped in the concrete at libraries or museums their money funded.

Fake news! Trump has eleven balls, and they're all yuge, and money was spent lavishly so that they could be serviced by only the classiest Russian prostitutes.

Inside the White House’s Quiet Campaign to Create a Supreme Court Opening

Good info overall but this part is interesting:

One person who knows both men remarked on the affinity between Mr. Trump and Justice Kennedy, which is not obvious at first glance. Justice Kennedy is bookish and abstract, while Mr. Trump is earthy and direct.
But they had a connection, one Mr. Trump was quick to note in the moments after his first address to Congress in February 2017. As he made his way out of the chamber, Mr. Trump paused to chat with the justice.
“Say hello to your boy,” Mr. Trump said. “Special guy.”
Mr. Trump was apparently referring to Justice Kennedy’s son, Justin. The younger Mr. Kennedy spent more than a decade at Deutsche Bank, eventually rising to become the bank’s global head of real estate capital markets, and he worked closely with Mr. Trump when he was a real estate developer, according to two people with knowledge of his role.
During Mr. Kennedy’s tenure, Deutsche Bank became Mr. Trump’s most important lender, dispensing well over $1 billion in loans to him for the renovation and construction of skyscrapers in New York and Chicago at a time other mainstream banks were wary of doing business with him because of his troubled business history.

I read someone on twitter saying that they worked with Kennedy at that bank and that he had very little to do with Trump, a lot of things were done after he left.

On another note I really wish Ginsburg had retired back in the first part of Obama's first term when the Dems had the house and the senate, her age really concerns me.

To steal a segment from Bill Maher..... I don't know it for a fact.....

Kennedy's son was the go between between the soviet union and trump and the trump/soviet union/money laundering scheme.

Here's how. No banks in America would lend to trump. None. Not one single one. In steps Kennedy as the Deutsche Bank's global head of real estate capital markets. He worked directly with trump. Deutsche Bank laundered money for putin and the soviet union. They did in the past and continue to do so today. With the Muller investigation following the money, Kennedy, Deutsche Bank and right in the cross hairs.

SCOTUS Kennedy hired a bunch of staff for next term, pointing to he's not going anywhere. Then, out of nowhere, he meets with trump and he's suddenly retiring before the mid-terms.

It all smells. It all smells bad.

The Democrats need to sandbag that nomination no matter what. The stuff they pulled with Gorsuch was BS. The problem is that these court picks are in a way validating the evangelicals vote. Sure they know Trump is a POS, but they get their right wing justices stacked in the court which is unfortunately exactly what they want.

I don't understand how our Supreme Court gets further and further right wing evangelical while churches all over the US are shrinking, combining and closing up.

If only they cared half as much about the 1st Amendment as they do about the 2nd.

I hope they realize that their guns will be useless against an oppressive government that can limit free speech and free press. Your 1st Amendment rights are way more important a weapon than any gun you can carry.

Hell, if they cared about the first half of the second Amendment. But that's all par for the course for the NЯA.

Maxine Waters had to cancel a speaking engagement because of credible death threats. I wonder why.....

First, he lied, like he always does. This is also the same type of bulls*** that almost got people killed at the pizza parlor in DC.

Yes. That makes sense. Maxine Waters encourages people to protest and hold government officials accountable is to blame for someone shooting up a news paper after years of 'the fake news is the enemy and I wish i could lock them all up and just have Faux News and RT here in America.'

hannity said he didn't conflate Maxine Waters to the shooting at the paper.

"Sean Hannity never tied today's horrific shooting to the comments made by Representative Maxine Waters. Today's event was pure evil, and no one can control someone who is intent on inflicting pain and violence," his website stated. "It's unfortunate that some outlets have to stoop to lying to attempt to get ratings and clicks."
Yep. Sure he didn't.....

"It's so sad that there are so many sick, demented and evil people in this world. It really is sad. You know imagine you go to work and this is what you're dealing with today. Some crazy person comes in -- and I'm not turning this into a gun debate, I know that's where the media will be in 30 seconds from now. That's not it," Hannity says in the clip. "I've been saying now for days that something horrible was going to happen because of the rhetoric. Really Maxine? You want people to create -- 'Call your friends, get in their faces,' and Obama said that too. 'Get in their faces, call them out, call your friends, get protesters, follow them into restaurants and shopping malls,' and wherever else she said."
"We don't know any of the details except that we now know that multiple people were injured. We think as many as 20. And we believe four fatalities in this newsroom shooting. This is separate and apart -- very separate and very apart. We don't know what's behind that. But we do know this: What Maxine Waters is advocating for is extraordinarily dangerous."

Really interesting comments and replies. Hmm I thought before when you linked directly to a comment it would let you view the replies to that specific comment.

This is what trump and his enablers want. I firmly believe this now.

The exact same thing is likely going on in Turkey with Erdogan. A lot of people think the whole coup in Turkey was a false flag to help him consolidate power. It is the same old trick but it works so well. Enemies are everywhere! Get in line or risk being labeled an enemy.

Trump is doing the exact same thing, minus the violence to fellow politicians. Cross the emperor, and he'll single you out on twitter and make sure you never recover politically.

Not sure how trustworthy Salon is or if there are any other places to help back this up, but interesting either way. Haven't had a chance to read it yet though.

Exclusive: Accused Annapolis shooter had deep, dark links to the alt-right

When the identity of the apparent gunman in the massacre of five journalists in Annapolis, Maryland, was revealed, area resident Jonathan Hutson, a prominent communications consultant and writer, had a shock of recognition. The suspect, Jarrod Ramos, had contacted Hutson in March 2015, taunting him about his role in alerting law enforcement and thwarting a potential mass killer who threatened schoolchildren and Jews in far-away Montana.

That first individual in Montana, David Lenio, overflowed with hyperbolic threats, and Hutson’s efforts to stop him succeeded, as I reported at Salon, just after it happened. Ramos was more cryptic and less overtly demonstrative — but in the end, far deadlier. Both were somewhat enigmatic, angry loners, with an unmistakable affinity for the racist alt-right.

“Jarrod Ramos was a lone nut who was not politically motivated, but he was politically influenced by the alt-right,” Hutson told Salon.

Researcher Fred Clarkson agrees. “Ramos and David Lenio seem to have been drawn into the orbit of far-right visions of anti-democratic violence, even as they seem to have ultimately acted on their own,” said Clarkson, a senior research analyst with Political Research Associates, a progressive think tank in Somerville, Massachusetts.

The only two politicians Ramos had tweeted about, according to Hutson, were Donald Trump and Michael Peroutka, a wealthy neo-Confederate funder turned Maryland county councilman. Hutson has written about Peroutka, as have I. Peroutka had major funding ties to former Alabama judge and U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore, as well to the League of the South, whose leader, Michael Hill, had written approvingly about plans to form paramilitary groups to fight a militarized “fourth generation” culture war, one of whose targets would be the media.

Wait is that the video game analyst guy? I've never really paid attention to him outside of what others have posted when it comes to his predictions.

U.S. Still Hasn’t Received Soldiers’ Remains from North Korea, Says Pompeo

Despite President Donald Trump’s boast at a rally that he had secured the remains of U.S. troops killed during the Korean War, his secretary of state says North Korea is yet to send any.
Around 7,700 U.S. soldiers remain unaccounted for from the conflict, the majority of whom are presumed dead in North Korea. As the U.S. military moved 100 wooden coffins to the border between North and South Korea in preparation last week, Trump told a rally in Minnesota: “We got back our great fallen heroes, the remains, in fact today already 200 have been sent back.”

More losi, I mean winning.

That Huckleberry tweet shows how the entire party thinks - everyone is 100% equal and the only thing keeping one person from wealth is hard work.

It is the biggest line of BS that they sell to middle class and lower income white people and they still believe it. Trust us and we'll give you a few crumbs we have left!

I consider myself so fortunate to have had the opportunities I had and more importantly, that I hit the job market before the GOP had picked it clean like a vulture pecking at a corpse. I feel so bad for the younger generation. Some of us are sorry. We tried. 2 terms of Obama. In hindsight we were incredibly lucky to have gotten that.
