Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Of course you can only assume that.

Well, I'm sure Square Enix is thrilled with their score then. I'm sure they're having a parade around the offices right now shouting "We're better than most! We're better than most!"

But they're not. Because the majority of AAA games score over an 81.

Pretty sure the lead platform was the Xbox. MS secured marketing rights.

The number of reviews between the two are 40 vs 39.

So you are wrong again.

I don't think marketing rights prove a game was the lead platform during development. That usually goes to the PC or console with the biggest user base. I could be wrong here but I'd need to see proof.

40 is a larger number than 39 so I'm actually right on that one.

Anyway, where are you on that Zoey avatar? Are you going to fulfill your end of the bet?

Got any data to support that? I expect it's at or around the mean. I also expect that if the data showed it were around average, you "could only assume" some other reason to discount it.

You made the claim that the PS was the lead platform, not Windows not Xbox. The onus is on you to provide the proof. Microsoft Windows or Xbox were most likely the lead platform. Not only through marketing rights, but Microsoft's new studio is run by the Tomb Raider developer. They are indeed in bed with MS.

I won't be falling through with the bet, I admit. I can't stand the avatars you have chosen. I need hot chicks only.

Failing to provide proof doesn't mean I'm wrong though.

And 40 is bigger than 39.

It's a shame you won't be following through on your bet. I wonder if I would back out of a bet after I lost it. No, I don't think I would have.

It's ok. I admit I am not going through with it. I never planned to. I don't take you serious.

Had I won I wouldn't have given you an avatar. I just never think about you.

No, the reason I'm discounting the "scored better than 83% of games" statement is because we generally don't consider the bloat and shovelware as actual games. OpenCritic does. We generally don't.

I'm also looking at it from Square Enix's perspective, the AAA perspective, and fans perspective. Most AAA games score higher than an 81. Square Enix probably isn't thrilled with that number, and according to Tomb Raider fans in this very forum, most were expecting a higher number.

It's not a bomb and people should enjoy it if they can, but let's not act like the final game in this massive trilogy wasn't a mild disappointment to a lot of people.

Though I suspect you already knew this position a while ago and you were just putting the PR hat on for fun.

Well, you sure quote me alot for never thinking about me.

And it's not about taking me seriously. It's about having the self respect to do what you say you were going to do in a public space. You entered a bet, lost, and then squirmmed out of it because that's what a certain breed of person does.

Do you really want to be that type of person?

My recent encounters with 'influencers' on YouTube makes me question the crap these guys spout. And then the dude offers his opinion about the games at the end of a tech analysis? Foul.

I have a wig company, and it's finally reaching a point where it's quasi-famous. A bunch of YouTube influencers have been wearing them for two years, and I asked if they wanted my new collection, and one asked for $35,000 for a featured mention, and another literally posted a picture of my wigs in a bin because I wouldn't sponsor them on Snapchat.

I doubt these guys are above that.

They made their fame by pixel counting for Sony.

Bad Form, Bro. You gotta be willing to pay or don't play. It's why I don't gamble...

Re. question of "lead platform," I don't think that makes much sense with this game, nor do I think there was a lead platform in the usual sense. Defining "lead platform" by number of reviews or marketing rights is highly dubious. It makes more sense to me to average across platforms, rather than argue about which platform score is the correct one. That's especially true when the agendas for arguing one way or the other are pretty transparent. And it's even moreso when the difference between the number of reviews on either platform is so miniscule. Makes a lot more sense to just average across PS4 and Xbox.

I'd listen to him. He's an expert on how to destroy your own reputation.

If I lost that bet, I would have followed through with the punishment.

And to lose it in such a public way. Everyone saw him back out a loser. Pathetic, lol.

Hedon nor Sunset have won or lost the bet yet. The original bet was:

Person closer to the final Metacritic score on September 21st (1 week after release) changes his avatar to whatever the winner chooses.

Duration: For the remainder of 2018.

As it is only 9-11-18 That still leaves 10 days. Lets revisit this then.

Also, I’m not trying to promote fanboyism, but the x version seems to be scoring the highest..? The scoring of some sites seems to be averaging the different scores together though .?

It was as close to officially recognized a bet you could get on a forum like this. Verified by mods, no less. It's not about if you like or respect your opponent. It's keeping your word. Integrity counts. Especially nowadays. Anyone who loses should accept the conditions agreed upon before witnesses!!

Do Mods how the power to change profile pics, lol? Only half kidding...

Sunset's Pic could have been way worse, anyways....

I'm planning on entering bets with all individual members here until we're officially recognized as a Fortnite fansite. It's...much more difficult than I thought it would be.

No, that would have to be Plainview.

This is not "verified by mods." Showers witnessed the bet and happens to be a mod, but that doesn't mean this bet has any sort of mod/admin approval or oversight. This is a bet between two individual members, that's all.

I was under the impression that when a mod says "Witnessed" after the bet is made, it's understood that the mod will make sure no one renigs on the bet after losing.

I'm pretty sure wshowers, myself, Hedon, and pretty much everyone else following along thought that as well.

You were under that impression, were you? You make lots of assumptions.

No, mods aren't going to run around policing and enforcing your stupid avatar bets. It's a bet between two individuals. It's up to the individuals involved to uphold it. Even if Showers wanted to, he doesn't have the ability to force the issue (and that's not showers' style anyhow).

You are two grown, adult men. You are squealing to some "authority figure" to force Hedon to change his avatar? Grow up.

Why say this now though?

You frequented this thread. You saw the bet take place. You saw wshowers "Witness" the bet. You said nothing. Why didn't you say anything? Because you weren't as emotionally charged at the time and you've somehow attached yourself personally to a Tomb Raider game.

Now, your emotional levels are high so you back the snake.

Mods have always been able to verify bets. Why would this time be any different?

Also, why does wshowers think he has authority on this issue? Because mods always have.

PS:. It's bet, not "bets". I've only taken part in one in all my time here. Hope you aren't overworked dealing with all my "bet".

I just mean that it was agreed to in front of others. Not some official acknowledgment, lol. It's just bad form to welsh, is all I'm saying, and it was publicly agreed to. With all the smack talk, the least we can do is honor our words. I don't think there is a "winner" yet anyway- As WShowers has said.

We do this kinda thing at work all the time, and the threat of being a tad embarrassed is half the fun, and not a bad way to bond.

To be clear, I'm not advocating some authority force things, but I do think it appropriate for the loser to uphold terms. My comment about mods changing avatars was more of a device to illustrate that I think it's important to keep your word.

Here! Here!

It's also worth pointing out that the forum is a more interesting place when there are consequences.

This is a stupid bet, but if it's upheld then words mean a little more, which we should all be for.

BTW, I smoked Hedon with Metascore predictions for State of Decay 2, Spiderman, and now Tomb Raider. I'd win 90% of any bet I entered into with him. Easy work.
