Shadow of the Tomb Raider

78 on Metacritic.

Don't say I didn't warn ya. Negative previews before a release is never a good sign. Easy money though.

Yeah well I hope they made the same comparison with UC 4. I’m just about finished and while it’s a great game and I love the story and characters, there’s far more dialogue/cutscenes than actual gameplay.

Don't think that's quite right, there is plenty of dialogue don't get me wrong but there isn't far more dialogue/cut scenes than action, if you are talking dialogue as in the exploring while talking stuff maybe but you still play more than you watch. Also the UC series handles those aspects much better than the last two Tomb Raider games, haven't played the new one yet obviously but Lara hasn't been anywhere near as entertaining as Nathan Drake or any of the other UC characters IMO. She was actually quite a bore in the last game and a lot of what I've read about this one makes it sounds like she's coming across as whiny and always being propped up by others.

Seem mixed, and sit at a dissapointing 78% on Metacritic. I guess I have to judge for myself.

I am not sure what happened. They shown off & let people play huge potion of the game means they are fairly confidence of the game.
Not to mention the early embargo. I think they expect great review. Sales & controveries, the past 2 has been critically acclaimed. Maybe chnage of new team is a mistake, ala Mass Effect.

The game is scoring around 81, if you aggregate the scores across platform. That means it is better than 83% of games out there.

That's not a bad score. That's a good score. Any score around 80 should be considered a good score. I don't know why we've gotten so incredibly anal about metacritic scores, as if 78 (even if you accept just the PS4 scores) means it's a bad game. Any score around 80 is good enough, imo.

I'm not defending the game. I've already talked about how RotR wasn't all that great. I'm just trying to argue for some perspective.

I understand that. Personal expectations of reviewers and gamers always play a role in review scores and how they're interpreted.

I'm just pointing out that a score of 81 is not a reason to consider the game bad or mediocre. Scores around 80 are usually indicators that the game is a good one. That's in the top 20% of game scores.

Hey, he entered that bet on his own accord.

Didn't your parents teach you how to be a good sport? You won the bet. Stop bragging and trolling.

You're right.

Her name's Zooey. She's a Fortnite skin.

I'm not sure that is necessarily true considering most reviewers don't use the bottom segment of their own scales.

If the new Tomb Raider was better than 83% of games out there we'd be seeing a lot more 10% scores and 15% scores on Metacritic. The vast majority of scores tend to fall in the 70 to 100 range.

Did Lara turn you down?

Doesn't matter. Even if the actual scale is 6 to 10, 83% of the scores are still falling below it.

78% on lead platform and version with the highest number of reviews can't be what SquareEnix wanted with that game.
Pretty sure the lead platform was the Xbox. MS secured marketing rights.

The number of reviews between the two are 40 vs 39.

So you are wrong again.
