I decided I'm going to give BF 4 another shot. I have some spare Live $ and I think I'll DL it. Or I can use my $100 BB card I got from trading in one of my Xbox 360s.

I had been thinking about it but this video sold me.

Thx man

the 2 extra players are commanders
fairly new to BF. a couple questions:

1. What is a commander?
2. I see what look like drones flying around every once in a while. What are they and how do i get them?
3. Is going in to the test map the only way to setup your loadouts before going in to a multiplayer?
4. The green bar next to the mini-map. Are those "perks" auto-enabled, or do I have to activate them?

1. As a Commander, you will be able to see your team's performance and guide them in each match. Pass down information and attack orders to the Squad Leaders, and allow them to disperse it to their squad. Depending on how your team does, you can provide them with certain assets.
MORE INFO: http://uk.ign.com/wikis/battlefield-4/Commander_Mode

2- they are deployed by the commander

3- there is no way to setup loudout from the main menu unfortunately, but you can set them up on battlelog site (http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4/) and when you next go into the game they will be available to you

4- they are auto-enabled, you get more perks as your SQUAD earns more points. but you lose progress if all your squad members die... so always make sure 1 squad member is alive (if you are last one alive just hide it out) and you can accumulate points towards unlocking those perks

Mid ranged pc's dip as low if not lower.

my 15 2300 + gtx660 is what I feel is low-mid-range and it NEVER dips below 58 FPS.

NEVER.

Well, except when the game is loading assets at the start of a match and down to 30fps during the loading screen (but that's the game, not my setup).

Battlefield 4 doesn't impress me at all. It's a slight upgrade from BF3, thanks to the facial animations which look cool. by the way.

I could say for certain that it looks better than Killzone Shadowfall. It's funny reading posts at Neogaf by some posters comparing the KZSF to other games like Metro LL and Crysis 3. Hah.

I assume by the bolded that you mean visually? Because overall the game is a HUGE upgrade from BF3.

Can you only edit your loadouts in an actual game?

You can also edit them in battlelog on your PC or tablet, maybe even on your phone.

The daughter had an out-of-town soccer tournament this past weekend, so I was not able to play my shiny new PS4 at all. With that said, the wife and I decided to take the day off yesterday and dive in to the BF4 multiplayer. We played every version of COD on the last gen consoles, but this was our first time with the Battlefield series. With the Conquest servers pretty much un-joinable, we played mostly Team Deathmatch and Domination. First off let me say, we both suck at this game. Ha ha…As decent COD players, it was a little frustrating at times. Hopefully, we get better as we spend more time with it and unlock some of the better weapons. Even with that, we enjoyed the game very much. I was blown away by the graphics. Very beautiful game and seems to run extremely smooth. Hopefully DICE will get some of these bugs ironed out quickly so we can play Conquest to get the true “Battlefield” experience.

Protip: With most weapons, when firing at someone more than medium (say, 20 meters max) do NOT strafe or move at all. Fire a burst, move, fire a burst. Moving adds all kinds of bullet deviation.

That's the first thing you need to get used to coming from COD, since in COD you can move, jump, twist and shout and there's no downside to it like in BF.

I'm thinking the same but on the Xbox One as I have a console and no games to play on it. Is the game the same on both the PS4 and Xbox One?

What is the SP mode like with the new gen? I have this game on the Xbox 360 and hated it to be honest (Single player, never played online).

The more I play on PS4, the more I see that the game really does look awesome on console. There are some things I wish were more like PC, likt the FOV and resolution, but other than that....the game really is fantastic looking.

Kudos to next gen gaming.

It looks like BF4 is really *the* game to own at launch. Ghosts is rated only as an average Call of Duty & games like Need For Speed: Rivals is beating Forza 5 in review scores? Dead Rising 3 is getting ok reviews. NBA2k14 is doing well, but still a port. So the only real title standing out is BF4. EA/DICE have a HUGE opportunity here if they can patch it fast & get all the crashes/bugs out of the game. (the game needs balanced a bit better too)

I really hope they get their act together. I'm getting tired of playing domination. I want to play conquest or rush, and haven't been able to do so.

Yeah, I think once they get the launches out of the way, there might be some changes immediately to improve things. I know some of the problems were related to the actual firmware of the PS4 that Sony updated. This is a huge opportunity for EA as Call of Duty is only average this year. If they can provide some service for once, they have a chance to take away some of the marketshare from Activision.

Does anyone know the details on "China Rising" DLC? How do I get guaranteed a free copy? Gamefly delivered the game today, so I want to try it out before I try it. If I like it though I don't want to miss out on the free DLC.

So the China Rising DLC code is included in the box, not on a receipt or anything so no pre-order is necessary. You will see an orange band on the top of the case that says China Rising DLC included or some such thing. Anyway, I'm assuming that is only for the initial run of the game, but as long as you make up your mind within the first few weeks of it's release, you should be good to find one in a store that includes the DLC....

Pretty sure anyone who gets a launch edition copy of the game has access to it. Essentially, just make sure you buy it in the next month or so. Otherwise, get Premium.

Speaking of DLC:

Thanks for the info. I have always played COD but I haven't bought the last two. I'm over the rehashed formula, so I am hoping I fall in love with Battlefield

So have they said why the conquest servers are not working for PS4 BF4?

Some sort of bug. EA was claiming that the PS4 launch firmware update screwed up their games functionality. They redacted the statement, so whether or not that's true, I don't know. Regardless, something seemed to happen that they weren't expecting.

Speaking of unexpected things happening, their recent server "fix" from a day or two ago seems to have made it so many can't even play Rush now (including me), which is a huge bummer. Got in a round of Obliteration tonight, but it ended up crashing / dropping me at the end of the match. Looks like they turned off commander mode for PS4 as well.

Back to Domination it is, I guess. I enjoy that mode, but I'm missing the vehicles.

I can't wait for 64 player conquest...the 24 player conquest has crappy scaled maps.

So, I got lucky and was able to play a few rounds of rush....hot damn, gamers suck at playing the objective.

I went over to my friends house and he had BF4 on X360 running idle on his TV and while he was getting ready and it looked absolutely terrible. Worse than BF3 on X360 and I played alot of BF3 on X360 and a decent amount of PC, I haven't played any console BF4, only PC.

Console gamers are terrible at BF games. PC players are better at BF games. Always has been and always will be.

You really have to have people who will communicate and work together as a team if you're not used to BF games. The team play aspect can't be beat by any other shooter other than maybe Quake Live CTF and/or Counter-strike bomb defuse.

I notice that. I play BF4 on both pc and console, and I've seen much more team work on pc and more communication (via the chat box). On console, people are just lone wolfing it. I swear, I feel like I'm the only one dropping med kits, ammo, spotting, etc.

Just played some Domination of BF4 it is amazing how much better it looks then PS3 version and the 60 fps is so nice. Now if I could play Conquest because I hate Domination.lol

Console players are a different breed, completely different. First time I noticed this was with Call of Duty 2.

COD2 had been on PC for a few months before the 360 version launched and I had poured a lot of hours into COD2 on PC. When 360 came out, I picked that up as well because at the time my friends didnt have high end pcs to play COD2 so they got 360s instead.

When I started playing online multiplayer COD2 I immediately saw something that struck me as odd....sniper rifles. Everyone was using them on the 360. I had never seen so many people so fascinated with sniper rifles before...except maybe Halo 2 team snipers, but that's a different ball game.

After a short while I came to a conclusion or theory about the sniper obsession in COD2 for 360...ease of use and the controller. Playing an FPS on a controller in my opinion is more difficult than a mouse and keyboard, simply because you get more precision from M/KB. The 360 players in COD2 were going to the sniper rifle as their first choice of weapon because: 1. It was basically a 1-shot kill anywhere weapon, 2. It had a high powered scope, so again, it cut down on the need to aim skillfully, and 3. The game had huge aim assist, so the sniper rifle was basically an entry-level weapon for the console players.

Ever since then, I've noticed that about console gamers when it comes to FPS. When DICE started releasing BF games on consoles, the same thing happened. It's no different in BF4, if there are high building tops where people can lay prone and snipe all day...they will do it.

I asked a guy in Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter for Xbox 360 why he was just laying prone the whole game sniping, his response was that it was the easiest thing for him to do in the game and that he was horrible with shooters.

COD, BF, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, and even Halo, whenever there's a choice of weapon and a high-power scoped sniper rifle is available to use, console players will use it predominately more than PC players.

That mentality of ease of use transfers into the objective-based modes of BF, quite simply put, console gamers just want a huge team deathmatch game to play, just wait till you see the 64 player CQ matches on X1 and PS4...it will be riddled with snipers and hardly anyone will care about the objectives, they will play 64 player CQ simply to have 32 players to snipe at, regardless of the objective of grabbing flags.

Still plenty of people that play objectives on Console they just are usually not as organized about it.
