That happens with wear and tear of the Xbox controllers, it's been doing that since the original large controllers before they switched to the S-controller on original Xbox. Hell, N64 controllers do that as well.

One thing that bothers me on my X1 controller is that both sticks are already loose when in their neutral position. I can also feel the stick move further once I've pushed the stick to the edge of its circle zone, this happened all the time on X360 controllers and I hated it.

I was hoping this issue would be resolved with X1 controllers but looks like it's not.
I only used the duke on the OX. Never had a problem with sticks. MS is going to give me a new D1 controller. Hopefully I just got a bad stick. If not considering the controller is under 2 weeks old. It is a desgn flaw that I've never seen before. I keep hearing im putting to much pressure. If it was the X,B,A buttons I'd be inclined to agree. I can't clarify enough I have 360 controllers that are at least two years old. No problems with them. I've never had a problem with any sticks.

VLC Player App For Xbox One Coming Soon Hints Team's Programmer

Xbox One will soon get dedicated VLC player app, according to details revealed by programmer on VLC's team, Jean-Baptiste Kempf on his official blog.

Kempf on his blogpost wrote: "So, here is an update about our port on WinRT platforms."

"I now say "WinRT platforms", but that means: Windows 8/8.1 ModernUI "Metro, Windows Phone 8 and XBox One? (who knows?)"

VLC player App on Xbox One will be a great thing as it can playback the popular .mkv files, whereas Xbox One on its is unable to play this format.

Remember the four new games in development at Microsoft's new Lift London studio, the ones that will apparently "redefine what triple-A represents"? You can expect to lay eyes on three of them in the not too distant future.

That's according to studio head Lee Schuneman, who spoke to OXM as part of the London Calling feature in our Christmas 2013 issue. "We've got a high bar for innovation," he said, during an interview recorded in November. "We have three cool titles in development that we'll reveal very soon."

Weary of the Xbox One's launch line-up already? Champing of the bit for more news of the console's 2014 offerings, and in particular Respawn's hysterically well-received Titanfall? You should probably tune into the Spike VGX Awards on 7th December, then - there's something in the wind, something "big". Titanic, even.

According to Spike TV host Geoff Keighley (yes, Gran, the man from the Doritos ads), we can expect "big new reveals" at the event, which will also screen the first actual gameplay footage of Remedy's sci-fi sleuth and shoot 'em up Quantum Break.

Anyone think we'll ever see the ability to purchase a game via online through a retailer whether it's Amazon.com, Gamestop, Bestbuy, etc, and we get a QR code to print off or actual code and then redeem that on Xbox One to download digitally?

Reason I ask is because retail outlets have sales on games, i.e., Ryse is $49.99 on Amazon.com, but you have to wait for the game to ship to you before you can play it. If it were a QR code you could print off or something, you would install immediately on your X1.

I'm guessing that would negate MSFT's Xbox One games store though.

I would love that and it'd stop us getting ripped off with DD!!!

My issues with the Xbox One UI aren't that bad, I think it's a great UI, but there should be a system settings tile, instead you have to press start on the controller and then you have to click on settings, or you use voice command to get to it.

Other than that, I don't experience any lag in opening apps or browsing through the tiles. The voice commands need work they don't always work.

Day-one Xbox One adopters have had their consoles for a week and a half now, and the warts are starting to show. Over the past few days, we've seen a surge of complaints about the new Xbox's interface and operating system, and today, Microsoft's publicly promising that they'll do better.

We mentioned a few of the Xbox One's interface issues, like its inability to show you how much hard drive space you have left, in our extensive review. Since the system's November 22 release, Xbox One owners have compiled even more complaints about OS sluggishness, Kinect issues, and party chat confusion. One journalist, writing for Edge magazine, published a scathing editorial today titled "Xbox, why? The baffling incompetence of the Xbox One interface."

"Xbox One's debut user experience is stuttering, clunky, and a serious challenge to Xbox Live's long-held status as the premier console service," Edge wrote. "Bluntly, they take too long to load, don't offer the functionality that Xbox Live was built on, and are, inexplicably, badly handled by the OS."

Some fans, led by IGN editor Ryan McCaffery, have put together a website called Xbox Feedback that lists complaints about the system. They've got a lot of suggestions: a controller battery indicator; a way to disable gestures; a more effective party chat system, and many more.

Last night, responding to a Reddit thread about the Xbox One's party chat issues, Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb promised that the company is listening to all of this feedback.

"I had a meeting today about much of this and I can say that things will get better," Hryb wrote. "I can't offer a timeline of a list of what [will] be addressed first, but we are aware of the issue and things will get better."

In May, we reported we'd heard that Microsoft was six months behind where they wanted to be on the next Xbox. In late October, we reported that the Xbox One's operating system was going through some last-minute growing pains. Today, it seems like the new console's interface isn't quite up to peoples' standards just yet.

I really think all these complaints are total nit picking's and really not 'issues'.

Sure they've missed a couple of bits out but they are not CRUCIAL at this stage we're in, this is MS they will patch and update it with ease in the coming weeks.

I have no fundamental issues at all with my xbox one or the functionality I think it's all being blown out of proportion because news is now slow due to the consoles launching.....isn't it?

console is quiet as hell but my power brick makes weird noise, its so annoying. like a vibrating phone on a table. i tried moving it, holding it up.. nothing fixes it :( it doesnt sound as bad as i am probably making out but i can hear it when i wake up in the morning and its annoying lol i may need to fully turn off the system at night

I've read about this on the Xbox support forum. Chat with a support rep and they'll send you a new power supply.

I have to say, Xbox support is leaps and bounds better than it was back in 2006. I had a controller disconnecting problem and they sent me a new Xbox in the mail without me having to first return the old one. Got my replacement last night and it was a brand new xbox, not refurb'ed.

What do people feel about the whole crushed black issue? I enjoy playing on my X1, but I do think the blacks look very dark. I've had to up the brightness in BF4 and a little on my Television to try and compensate for it.

KI also seems to suffer from it.

Did you calibrate your TV using the X1 calibration in Settings? It's under TV and Display, I think. Works great. I haven't noticed any Crushing myself. I've got a Nice, newish, LED TV and run it with 36(or 32, can't remember) bit color depth.

Not sure about all the UI hate( I Still think it's a great starting point), but the settings tile is in the Games and Apps Menu. You should be able to pin it to your favorites if you want...

Yes, and a quick search of news.google.com shows that everyone expected that the X1 would not in fact outsell the PS4 2:1

Given the history of Black Friday for the Xbox brand in general, that could mean as much as a million consoles on just that day... Assuming the inventory was there.

Well analysts insist that the PS4 and XBOX ONE will have sold through 3 to 4 million WW by end of 2013. I believe Sony had a forecast of 5 million PS4s sold by March/April timeframe. MS had their own numbers of near 7 million by end of June (I'm thinking you will see a massive amount of XBOX ONE's moved in March/April timeframe due to Titanfall launching).

Man that would be amazing. I wish it was happening now though. I need a solution now else I'm going to have to go spend money on an android on a stick. I already have a WDTV live box but as i'm getting a 55 inch tv on Friday I'm moving the 39 incher to the bed room and I will have no way to stream content to the bedroom tv. I would like to move my WD box to the bedroom but ps4 and xb1 both fail me as media devices and I can't do that. ;(

Wow kotaku is in rare form today with the Xbox hate today. 2 consecutive articles. I broke my promise to myself not to go there anymore but they are the only site that seems to update so much. I swear half their staff must be getting paid off.

Doubtful, if guys like Arthur Geis ain't then these guys ain't either.

So you don't think Sony putting all these guys up in five star hotels, feeding them, then giving them engraved consoles in a nice custom monogrammed suitcase had anything to do with this? You don't see that as a payoff?

/guffaw

You know Jim Sterling did a rant about this a few weeks back. He seemed more upset that people were talking about the extravagant degree to which Sony paid them off than the actual payoff its self.

Jim would have had a point, but this is not treatment that a few select news paper technology journalists received. This is treatment that literally thousands of no name bloggers all of whom were Microsoft critics received.

Do you know if Plainview received this type of payoff from Sony?

Well, no, did you consider Polygon receiving $700k from Microsoft as a payoff?

Apparently on Reddit there have been a lot of complaints about Party Chat not working? They said this should be something that works from day one. And Major Nelson said this:

“Had a meeting today about much of this and I can say that things will get better. I can’t offer a timeline of a list of what till be addressed first, but we are aware of the issue and things will get better.”

I find this a bit hard to believe. Could be that some people have problems with this, but i doubt a huge amount. Cause i haven't read much about it here.

Here is Kotaku bloggers failing to reveal that they each received payoffs worth thousands of dollars each...

You didn't answer the question, should I word it differently so you can understand it?

Party chat has been hit and miss so far, the most frustrating thing is not being able to turn party chat on. With games like BF4 if you join a party your best chance of getting the party chat to work is to go to the dash and join, then re-enter BF. FYI my NAT is open, all X1 ports forwarded and X1 is in the DMZ. Still love the console regardless.

“Would You Like Ryse With That?” – McDonalds Launches XBox One Promotion

Smart marketing! :)

Marketing is all about bringing together different things that we enjoy into a wonderful product package. In keeping with this, McDonalds has launched its new One Hot Holiday campaign in which contestants can enter to win a number of prizes, including an XBox One with Forza Motorsport 5 packed in.

Along with the console/game package, other prizes to be won include a digital copy of The Maw, one month of free XBox Music Pass and XBox Live Gold, and a digital copy of The Wolverine (or an episode of select TV shows) on XBox Video. So, as you can see there’s a bit of a drop-off from the grand prize but what the hell; free stuff is free stuff, right?

One Hot Holiday runs from today until December 23rd, so get eating if you want to win an XBox One this Christmas.

You didn't answer the question, should I word it differently so you can understand it?

And you are totally ignoring my point that both Kotaku and Edge were directly paid by Sony to write these articles. Where as Microsoft gave a company seed capital.

Those are different things...
