Well, this is America. Around here, If it isnt first place, its last. So make no mistake, Microsoft isnt comfortable with their position. No way they could be. So they are no doubt doing what they do best, only in over time mode.
its not 1st anywhere though and MS won last gen here in the states.

I don't think that it is a given that MS expects to outsell Sony. A company like MS could cut the price a lot more and take a loss if they were worried about their market share. I honestly don't think they are (I know there was a small price cut).

It wasn't really the gifs that got the thread shut down. They didn't help, but the real problem was the personal animosity and the little digs people kept making at each other. Thread got stupid.

It's sort of the "thing" around here.

They won last gen, yes. This gen has just begun though. Although it does feel like a continuation or, the more "natural" evolution of the 360 era. Actually the One feels like a natural evolution of the 360 all the way around, but thats just me....

Yeah I can see that. Crazy how serious and personal console sales get to some people. I wonder why gaming consoles specifically seem to be so much more afflicted with this as opposed to other products. I don't see people freaking out about what kind of orange juice they drink or even what kind of car they drive to the extent that we see happening with consoles.

It's OK to find interest in these topics, but to get upset about things just seems really strange. The only thing I can think of that comes close to it are sports, but that is competitive by design and encourages fanaticism and emotional reaction even if it is irrational. I wonder if it is the case that the peoples emotional investment in gaming consoles is a reflection of the product or perhaps the product is a reflection of its fans. Now I must go ponder these anthropological thoughts.

Nice to see 5 million Xbox One's sold, and the best exclusive sold being Titanfall....and it's just the start of the generation. This is gonna be good!

It's sold-in, meaning shipped to retailers not sold to consumers. A few individuals have been tricked by that MS PR spin. ;)

The estimated sold through X1 WW numbers are between 3.9 million to 4.2 million based on some fair assumptions and estimates.

Poor PS Vita. It's not right that Nintendo hogs all of the handheld market, especially when their 3DS is region-locked. And this is amidst the Vita getting some good titles in the past while.

Sometimes it’s like falling in love – what happens then is that you get a tsunami of a neurotransmitter called dopamine into the brain, which gives you a huge buzz,” he said in an interview with Kotaku UK. “This happens with products, they can do exactly the same thing – in fact when we look at addictive behaviour, we find that people become addicted to products. The sight and touch of the product gives them a dopamine high.

When you criticize the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Pc or any other product and staunch defenders come out of the woodwork, what they’re doing is defending something they’re in love with, much like a spouse might leap to the defense of their paramour, which all explains quite a bit.

There lies your answer.

Wow can't believe people get upset over gifs, step away from the keyboard if you are that uptight people!

Why don't you have an avatar yet? Get one....it kinda freaks me out.

Gran Turismo made by Sony do move consoles

Fixed.

No, cause ps3 sold better than 360 at a higher price.

The 360 sold better than the PS3 because of the games.

It's sold-in, meaning shipped to retailers not sold to consumers. A few individuals have been tricked by that MS PR spin. ;)

It's 5 million sold to retailers. Retailers ordered them and paid for them so they can meet consumer demand. They are sold. 5 million plus Xbox One's sold worldwide is great. And just think, once they get to more countries than just the 13 they have now, it's gonna be smooth sailing. I mean, look at how they are trouncing the sales figures for the Xbox 360 and PS3 in the same time frame (as well as the Xbox Original). Just destroying them. Great news for gamers.

Fair enough but I think there's a good chance MS expected to outsell Sony in the US at least for March with all the price cuts/promotions going on but they didn't.

5 million weren't sold
Actually they were. 5 million were sold to retailers (which ordered them and paid for them). Retailers aren't going to just get them free and order them because there is no demand, lol. 5 million plus sold to retailers is great!

Yes, sold through is to consumers, sold-in is to retailers, there's a difference. When you just say sold, people can misunderstand that and think it's sold to consumers. That is just factually wrong and should be correctly represented.

Retailers paid for them to meet consumer's demand yet the demand has clearly slowed down since the start of 2014 so yes they're paid for but... some of them are just sitting in the warehouses waiting to be bought by a potential consumer.

I was reading an article the other day about how some people get their personal identities wrapped up in a particular thing they have bought. A car, a console, whatever. Because they've got their identities wrapped up in it, when you criticize that thing, it feels to them like a personal attack, and they defend that product like they're defending themselves. I thought about fanboys...

It doesn't matter if it is sold to consumer or retailer. Retailers are only buying what they see is being demanded. So there have been 5 million + sold to retailers worldwide, to only 13 countries. That is great news for us gamers.

It does matter if you want to paint a more accurate picture of what is actually being bought by the consumers. If it wasn't significant, there wouldn't be such a discrepancy between the terms "sold through" and "sold-in". Everyone would just be using the world "sold".

Well, your opinion is noted. But again, the great news is 5 million Xbox One's have been sold, and it is trouncing last gen at this same time. Console gaming is not only here to stay, but it's growing.

Not to mention, Titanfall sure nailed it, and that is without digital sales being counted. Again, great news for gamers.

Now I need to pick up Second Son!

Funny you didnt include your self in that description. I gather you are the one who made it up? You jis so intelliGGent! ;)

Ehehehe. I don't care if you think the PS4 sucks or whatever so no I don't classify myself as a fanboy but for the record, I am liking what Sony's been doing more this gen than MS.

I just post factual information and correct others when they are posting non-factual; and for some, sometimes the truth hurts.

Yes, you should! That game is the best game out right now, IMO.

I dont think microsoft planned on winning the US. Not at the start. Not when they knew that Sony would release at $100 less before even releasing the One and that they would release later. If that were the case, they would have released at $400 as well.

Most of us do. Is there anyone here that posts false information? If so, I am sure Plainview would like to be notified. That probably constitutes a forum rule violation, as it would tread on trolling.
