11-14 cops shot 4 confirmed dead

Is that an actual quote? It was probably written for him but its damn accurate.

Yeah I was listening to it on the radio while waiting for my mom to come out of her doctors appointment and I thought it was a great line, then I thought "there is no way in hell he wrote that" lol

I only heard about that recently. Is that a new thing? Has it worked well?

OT: I'm hating reading the news more and more each day.

UK police have never been routinely armed.

And in terms of it working, there are hardly any UK cops killed in the line of duty each year. By not resorting to lethal force, we are generally forced to de-escalate a situation (which is often a good thing, but not always). When there is a true nutter on the loose, they will either be tasered or firearms officers will be called to deal with it. But I think the main point is that, although there are plenty of nutters over here, their access to firearms is massively reduced when compared to the US. Like in 7 years as a police officer I've only been to a handful of jobs that involved someone really intending on using a firearm to do harm (or steal). We're much more liekely to have someone pull a knife on us. I dealt with a dude who had 3 big kitchen knives a few months back. He threw one at me (missed) then I managed to talk him into dropping the other two before I rugby tackled him and arrested him. I assume in the US he would have been shot and killed very early on. His punishment was to write me a letter of apology. I sh*t you not.

Different strokes I guess.

I'd like to get your guys' opinion on this video. Following comments on YouTube is like watching the worst of the worst in people. White dudes using the N-word, black dudes calling the Sheriff Uncle Tom, sellout etc..

I'd like to discuss this civilly. If possible.

Does the Sheriff have a point? Any point? I've always wondered how certain crimes become news when so many others are ignored.
Is this the media exploiting a serious problem in America? Should BLM be doing and saying more about black on black crime? Do they already do that?

I'm a 46 year old white dude who has never even been in a cop car. I'm looking for opinions and perspective. Thanks.

I am a fan of Clark but it's a bogus argument to say that just because BLM are focusing on cops killing people that they don't care about black on black crime. One of the main points that should be looked at is when black on black crime happens the offenders are often brought to justice, the problem here is that people don't feel as though equal justice is being used.

As for cops, this idea that people hate cops or are anti cops is silly, all people are asking for is that they be held to the same standard as any other citizen. if i shoot someone who is unarmed and is not in the act of trying to cause me serious bodily harm then i would be put on trial and thrown in jail, there have been numerous cases where cops have killed an individual and have just walked off even though they were no threat. they get to use the line "well i thought he had a gun" or " i thought the toy gun he was holding in the middle of walmart that they sell was real" and my favorite "he was reaching for his waistband" people are just sick of it.

I agree.

Also I had no idea Clarke was speaking at the RNC until I saw Plainview's list in the Primaries thread. Lol. Not that it totally taints his message. But it makes me feel a little icky about posting the video.

I think my question is how are cases chosen to be newsworthy?

If you think of the news like you do any other show on tv it will make more sense, they show the stories and present them in such a way that will cause the highest amount of people to watch them. race is a big issue, i try to be very level headed but i find myself being lumped into to group think sometimes when it comes to issues of race. i would say that they pick the stories that will cause the most controversy, just look at the set up. they got a black right wing sheif and a black left wing reporter, they set them close enough to each other that there was a chance for violence should things get too heated.

another way to look at it is why do talk shows like Jerry Springer bring on the type of people they do?

There’s too much violence in the black community,” former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani said Sunday on CBS’s “Face The Nation.” “If you want to deal with this on the black side, you’ve got to teach your children to be respectful to the police

Rudy is an ass! the guy has no sense of decency and gets credit for being the mayor of a city that was attacked, 911 was the best thing that ever happened to that a******. I will say I was always taught that if I were to be pulled over you do what the police ask of you without talking back, not saying I agree with that but I was taught that by my older family members as a kid. Luckily I have only been pulled over once, people will say it's because I'm white but I'm also a very careful driver and obey the laws lol. The time I was pulled over the cop was Latino and he told me that one of my brake lights was not working and didn't ticket me. I was friendly and respectful towards the cop and he was to me, funny thing was I was on the phone (headset of course) with a friend who's black at the time and I told him "s*** you don't even have to be in the car and I'm still getting pulled over" lol.

My first encounter was when i was six and i lied at school and said we needed food and two cops showed up at our door with food (got my ass beat for that one)

the second time was when i was 14, my brother and i got pulled over, they took us out of the car searched the crap out of the car and then sent us on our merry way, we lived in a very affluent area and black folks were very uncommon there. He got pulled over about once a month for stupid crap, failing to single, expired reg even though the month of expiration had not expired yet, loud music, tint to dark. funny how he never smoked but they always said they smelled weed in the car..

3rd time was when i was about 16: our home was raided, they snachted my cusion out of his car at gunpoint as he was heading to work, ran in our home held my mother, my father, my brother and me at gunpoint while they searched our home. they were able to get a search warrant for a distant relative who not only had never set foot in our home but who we hadn't been in contact with for years.

4th time: at my mother in law's home and the alarm went off, three hours later two cops show up and try to say we broke into the home, there were 6 kids and two elderly people there at the time (quite the break in team).

5th time i see a woman get closed fisted punched in the face: my brother and i step in to stop the guy, he runs off like the bitch any woman beater is. cop shows up tries to act like billy bad ass and bully me and i decline to be bullied assert my rights so he charges my brother who was far more calm than i with a BS charge (woman beater walks free).

I have had some positive run in's too, like the time i was drunk as s*** and we got pulled over and the cop was like screw the ticket i'm just happy you didn't let that guy drive. actually that's the only one i can think of

Back home, in the country, its common after the pub shuts, for the cops to drive you home if its raining, or the cab(there's 1 cab driver in my home town) isn't running.

Yeah if I had those experiences I'd have a different view no doubt about it.

When I was in high school and actively outdoors a lot ( thus getting very tanned, I'm Italian btw) I got my one and only profiling experience.

The cop pulled me over for not having a light on my license plate. The very first comment out of his mouth was, "What are you, Mexican?"

That's you in your avatar, yeah?
