Amazon Pre Orders? DON'T CHANGE YOUR PAYMENT TYPE

I just applied a gift card to my existing One preorder, and it changed my estimated delivery date from Nov.22 to "unknown". I contacted Amazon, and they are going to attempt to change my delivery date back to Nov. 22, but it's not guaranteed. Unbelievable. I didn't cancel my order, I simply applied a gift card to my existing order. Apparently other people are having issues, too.


For reference, I pre ordered 15 mins after they started accepting them on June 10th.

Great point. I ordered Day 1 also and changed which credit card and got bumped back. Fortunately that was just a week or so after preorders opened up so now I'm back to being guaranteed, but I could see that causing an issue now.

It is real BS. Sorry to hear that.
 
I did this like 3 days ago with my X1 preorder because I lost my debit card and had to get a new one. My estimate still says the 22nd.
 
I've been adding gift cards to mine for a while now and my delivery date never changed. There was a button at the top of my order screen that allowed me to apply the gift card to my order without changing my payment method. Delivery stayed the same while only the balance changed. Hope you and anyone else having that problem gets it fixed.
 
I've changed payment type on my PS4 order on Amazon and still show Nov. 15th.

I just got an email from Amazon which states that they are sold out of release day consoles, and have had to cancel my order. My order still shows up in My Orders on the website, but with an indeterminate release date. I guess that I'm not getting it on the 22nd. I had already planned on getting a PS4, too, so I'll have some fun stuff to play, but this is pretty disappointing. All because I applied a $9 gift card to an order from June 10th. Wow, Amazon.

I would bitch to hell and back just on principal. When Amazon told me my OG xbox wasnt coming until the following week when I paid a hefty price for next day shipping, I bitched and moaned and they did get it to me on time. If there is no recourse to reinstating your preorder, I would attempt to get some compensation personally. Also take into account that you may be able to get a console at retail if Phil Spencer is to be believed :). Good luck man.

Thanks, man. Yeah, I'm not normally one to take something like this lying down, but it's just so....tiresome dealing with new people every time you call, explaining again, blah blah blah. I'm supposed to get a call back from the original Amazon rep today, but I have to work, and you can never just call or email these people directly back. We'll see. I'm definitely getting a PS4 on day one, but this has put me in a bad mood. Plus my mother in law is coming to stay with us for 2 weeks RIGHT when the One releases, so maybe it's all for the best.

Wow I'd be livid. So glad this didn't happen to me when I changed my debit card. I've always had good experiences with Amazon support though, so they'd definitely be hearing from me.
 
This exact same thing happened to me op. I got on their online chat and they looked up my order and confirmed that my place in line has not been changed and will still recieve it on the 22nd.

Did yoy really get an email like that? Seems extremely bizarre. I will be contacting them for a 2nd time, just to be safe.
 
I have changed payment methods three times and my delivery date has not changed. I would avoid tweeking your order though to avoid any other problems.
 
I changed my payment option as well because my card expired in September. Still getting it launch day. Maybe it's an issue using gift cards?

Tell me more. All the more bizarre because the actual order is still active on their site, just with an undetermined delivery date, even though they said they had cancelled the order.

Has your date changed back to the 22nd yet? How long did it take? I really appreciate the help, maybe this will work out after all.
 
Just got off of a chat and then another phone call, this time with the call center in Seattle, and it's bad news all the way around. Apparently I was bumped to the back of the line when I applied the gift card (ludicrous), and no one can change that. No supervisor, no super supervisor, no one.

They said that if anyone in a similar situation had been told that their place in line was secure, that person was given erroneous info, just FYI Chewy Wookie.

They are looking into having a warning pop up that tells people that adjusting payment types may jeopardize the current delivery date, but that's it.

They gave me a freaking $30 gift card to appease me. Woohoo.

Usually I don't have a problem with Amazon customer service, but what they did to you is f***ED UP. Thanks for the heads up. I ain't changing anything to my order.

So did they say what is causing this? Because like I and a lot of people have said in this thread we've done similar things and our dates haven't changed. Like for instance I just changed my payment to use a different debit card.
 
I changed to a different card and got the "update pending" message. Its gonna suck if I lost my spot... Placed it right after the reveal. Grrrr
