AMD's Raja Koduri says that we need 16K at 240Hz for "true immersion" in VR

Oculus Rift is "subjectively better" than the PS VR headset said no one ever.

You forgot to note better OR's will be released over the years so the specs and requirements will increase.
Oh and I see audio but no mention of the dollar store headphones.

How does that compare to the PSVR audio? I don't think it even comes with built-in audio does it?

The OR allows you to use whatever headset you like I believe though what is included utilizes 3D Audio and also a built-in mic.

If those are dollar store headphones then the PS4 earbuds are from a Cracker Jack box. :tounge::wink:

You needs to look things up son.
PSVR Headset is a way better set.

First, I'm not your son and I hope you don't ever reproduce.

Second, it was a question I asked, not a statement. Thanks for the helpful answer.

So I looked it up and I don't see any pictures or mention of them including earpieces on the PSVR. Would you be so kind to direct me to that info so I can look into it. Thanks!

You have to be schooled son.

Can someone that speaks clearly explain WTF this means? From what I see there is the OC with headphones attached standard. Of course you can use your own headphones if you prefer.

The 2nd pic are Koss headphones, looks pretty budget. Is this what comes with the PSVR? I still can find nothing on the internet showing this. Link? The PSVR pics I've seen never show headphones so I was thinking you'd use your own, or in my case my Playstation Classics which I think do a great job with games.

Val, the only school you run around here is a dance class. I suppose getting caught up in so many errors you prefer to dance around answers in order to give you an "out" when shown wrong. In this instance, I don't know if you are wrong because it requires clown logic to figure out what you are saying in the first place.

That's right. New Oculus Rift will release over the years and make PS Morpheus even more outdated than it already is.

For the market to grow the PSVR will have to pave the way. If not VR will continue to be a niche gadget for years to come.

The way is being paved already by the GearVR and other phone headsets. Those are the lowest points of entry, and are gaining steam like crazy with the GearVR(Oculus) being the first commercially available legit success.

The fact that youtube has 360 degree and stereoscopic footage was kicked off by the interest generated by the Oculus dev kits.

PSVR may help speed the snowball effect, but that s***'s been paved.

Its below niche right now so no it hasn't been paved.
With $99 and $450? options it might get paved and become niche or better.

The Occulus Rift will likely be better in the future, but at this point in time the PSVR has a superior screen.

OR: 2160x1200 (or 1080x1200 per eye) and 60 fps
PS VR: 1920x1080 (or 960x1080 per eye) and 120 fps

I believe some of those numbers have the potential to change or be improved via software. I don't see either to be superior overall while each has particular strengths.

But back to the audio...what is Val trying to say? I can't find anything of what he is claiming.

None of those can be changed by software.

People are missing a crucial factor when looking at the resolution of the two screens. The OR is using a pentile matrix setup whilst the PSVR is using a RGB screen, meaning that the PSVR ends up having more sub pixels then the OR does, even though the OR has more pixels. This is why the PSVR has pretty much no screen door effect.

Gotcha. Then how is your over-exaggeration (some would call it a lie) taking me to school? I'm gonna start calling you Elmer because you are full of FUD. :tounge:

So if I get this straight, you are making fun of OR's included headphones which can be swapped out and saying Sony's audio is better even though they seemingly don't include anything with their VR unit. That was quite a pwning you did on Kassen all right. LOL.

Of course the real joke is on me for even trying to engage in intelligent conversation with Elmer.

wasn't trying to pwn kassen was messing in response to his post. I dunno if the set can be swapped but they do have a cheap look in comparison to the competition. That other stuff I don't know what to tell ya

..in comparison to the competition. What I can tell is that neither the Sony PSVR nor the HTC Vive include headphones with their VR units. So something looks cheaper than nothing. Got it.

Also, here is a quote from TrustedReviews.com regarding the OR headphones, "Although they might look like the rubbish headphones you’re given free on flights, they actually provide surprisingly immersive audio."

PSVR don't include headphones?lol

From what I can tell, no.

"Finally there are a couple of side components such as the Headphone / Mic connector, and the VR converter box. The Headphone Connector connecter is a simple 4 button dongle that powers on, mutes the mic, and turn the volume up or down, simply and no need for further explanation. The VR converter is a cute mini PS4 like device that you plug your PSVR headset into. It’s a bit unfortunate that the headset doesn’t have built in surround audio, but again price is the most important aspect here."

The Wintness dev confirms VR compatability in the works but not for PSVR. PC only. The only reason I can think of is the PS4 simply doesn't have the overhead to implement VR. The developer has close ties to Sony so would certainly implement it if possible. I wonder if we'll see the same thing with No Mans Sky?

(My phone is playing up so can't provide a link)

You're a really obsessive fangirl. You need to give your idol some space or he'll never want to speak to you again.

WTF? So don't call Val out on his lies according to you. Got it. And considering you have double my posts and Val has quadruple if I am an obsessive fangirl then I can only guess how your rate yourself and Val on the obsessive wierdo scale. It's you 2 that are always involved in these hardware handbag wars, not me.

Consumer rift has two 90 hz 1080x1200 custom made screens from Samsung (which are mechanically adjustable to your IPD). PSVR can do 120 hz on a single 5.9" screen, but games will be running at 60 FPS using interpolation techniques. Not ideal, but certainly better than standard 60 FPS VR.

However, what most people don't talk about are the lenses. Oculus is on the bleeding edge of fresnel lens manufacturing technology. Anybody who has tried a gear VR knows how small the sweet spot is. This is due to the lenses, not the screen. Having advances lenses helps eliminate the screen-door effect, chromatic aberration, increases the sweet spot and makes text much clearer given the relatively low resolution modern VR has.

Audio is also not your typical audio. The headphones have a built-in DAC and amp.

“We control the entire pipeline. The Rift has a built in DAC and amp. Everything is high quality, from the Audio SDK to DAC to amp to the driver modules themselves.”
- Palmer Luckey

This will be better than most people's headsets they have. However, if you have your own you can simply remove them and strap on your cans.
