Americans Are Acting Like Slowly Boiling Frogs

In the classic history of Nazi Germany, They Thought They Were Free, Milton Mayer writes:
“What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, little by little, to being governed by surprise; to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if the people could not understand it, it could not be released because of national security. And their sense of identification with Hitler, their trust in him, made it easier to widen this gap and reassured those who would otherwise have worried about it.

“This separation of government from people, this widening of the gap, took place so gradually and so insensibly, each step disguised (perhaps not even intentionally) as a temporary emergency measure or associated with true patriotic allegiance or with real social purposes. And all the crises and reforms (real reforms, too) so occupied the people that they did not see the slow motion underneath, of the whole process of government growing remoter and remoter.
The German citizens were boiling frogs … the water heating up so gradually that they didn’t realize they had to jump out of the pot to safety.

Not sure if it's like Nazi Germany now but yes Americans have asked and thanked the government for taking away more and more rights daily. Americans it seem to have become lazy as s*** and think they're owned every god damn thing just because they were born.

Its no longer I have a dream I can do anything it went to it's not fair that guy has more then me take it away so I don't feel like such a failure. Someone else should has to pay for all my mistakes and god forbid I have to do the same thing myself as that is not fair.

The point here is not so much what has been taken away, but how the gap between Government and The People is forever widening. The title says your rights are slipping away, not that your rights are gone.

She does not mean like during the times they were killing millions. She means the lead up to all that with small rights being taken away and people being pushed to relay on the government so the people can't out them cause they now need them just to live their basic lives.

I love the what rights have been taken away come on people don't be that dumb now.
 
there are always going to be comparisons to be made when the underlying motive of competition, and thus domination and control, remain consistent
 
Most people are being pushed to rely on the government due to corporate greed, jobs don't pay workers enough yet these corporations that own the politicians are posting record profits almost every quarter. Places like Walmart have a huge percentage of employees who collect in some way from the government simply because they don't make enough even though they are working to support themselves. You know what would fix that though? companies actually paying a living wage for work, these rich bastards are still going to be rich either way, so what if it takes them a little longer to make their next billion, they own everything so the money is always going to work it's way back up to them anyway.

It's the jews is what use to say, now it's those stinking money grubbers. The problem is a weak dollar, looking into that is the first step in seeing the real problem.
 
Putting our current government on the same level as Nazi Germany is grade A moronic. Not saying it's without problems and corruption, but the exaggeration is just way too much too bare. Especially for a country that already has genocidal and racial prison camps as part of it's history.

Nothing there has anything to do with your personal rights that are guaranteed by the constitution being taken away.



jesus christ, do some of you not know what kind of freedoms our founding fathers intended for us? Do some of you think that they intended unconditional freedoms?

Jeezzz...your freedoms have not been taken away. You have the right of freedom of speech, you have the right of religion, you have your god damn rights. The constitution is designed to protect you from having a government jail you, or worse for exercising your rights.


Government cover ups, lies, etc, are not taking away your rights. Jesus, do you think it's only now that our government has been acting this way? Do you think life for americans were all sunshines, rainbows and skittles before Obama? lol

I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've been at the gym after work and all of a sudden Obama keeps adding more and more weight. Really gets annoying. He's trying to dictate what I lift. Calls me a wuss even. It hurts my feelings.
