Battlefield 4 multiplayer on X1 (Goldmund Railway, Floodzone)

So wait, remind me who this guy is? Where is he from? If he is right, meltdowns are sure to follow.

There was a time I really liked these rumours, cause some sounded plausible. But now after Rubin confirmed 720p for CoD I just don't see 900p happening at all. If that were the case, he would have not said a thing if you ask me. Those are all people claiming to be insiders? Including those tweets?

He's sticking to this, still. 3 weeks.

Roses are red,
violets are blue,
except when they've got
DAT 2nd GPU.

I can see the AO fix. Maybe some minor tweaking, possibly even a bump up in resolution if they'd had to drop it because of other bugs related to the missing AO or whatever. I want whatever the insider is smoking, but in chewable form.

As long as the guy is anonymous he is credible.

Hey guys here is the number for the Friday night 12,28,40,50,64 and Million Ball 4

He is right, MS is waiting for it to be too late for Sony to change specs. Once that time passes (it keeps getting pushed back because of marketing and Sonyponies); they're going to tell developers to flip the switch and BOOM 4k for all games thanks to the hidden dGPU (That's 50CUs, that's more than AMD's new R9 290x!) and low latency. Epic kill; it's the art of war m8; something something enemies close.

LOL

I love your creativity man. A+

It's that bad in MP on 360?

Why not all? :D But probably not.

The reason that the framerate in the IGN video is worse than the PS4 MP videos so far is apparently due to IGN's player that only is 30fps. Should mean tomorrow during the XBL livestream it should be much better.

isnt there some big announcement during the event? knowing how these companies hype uo small things its probably something to do with dlc but hoping for 1080p

1080p is not a realistic expectation, especially with the CoD 720p confirmation now. 1080p would also make it the much better version than PS4...

Hope this tournament between USA and Europe is on the final build that airs tomorrow.

Seriously? Does anyone even believe any of that nonsense now? Ketto beats a dead horse to the tune of "BA-DUM-CHING!"

And this from this morning:
I really don't understand all this secrecy around The One. What else could there be about the console that we don't know yet? How long can MSoft hide something?

You guys know I can't resist. It's kinda like Bigfoot...almost certainly not real, but damn I hope I'm wrong

Insider: The reasons for these developers not going full 1080p is due to resources. And ms changed too many thing in the last 20 weeks .. and api's that came in late.

The story with Dice is they are still developing the day one patch. There is a lot more then ao. There is aa. Texture aa and more .. I told you the review copy that leaked was around 10 weeks old. It was not even optimised.

the hanna 2 upscaler is not even doing any heavy lifting. There is discussions going on. That relate to 4k and 30fps gaming and there saying 720p bf4 was looking better then the 1080p native upscale. And it had to to with api and esram development cycle. Will have to wait for more 4k reviews to prove this.

I know for fact there is a lot of heavy words being said behind closed door in regards to sony leaking information to a certain online person. Come this month every thing will be cleared up. The p r efforts of ms are really ready to show their console's worth in gaming.

And this, from a different 'source':

No patch for cod. IW used old engine which was not designed to take advantage of the new architecture of x1. There is little to no offloading and piss poor utilization of esram. TR and over 11.2 features aren't designed for last Gen engines. frostbite 3 was built with new architecture driving the project.

Engines that are going to take advantage if x1 architecture so far are: frostbite 3, snowdrop, unreal 4, cryengine as well as project red new engine.
There is also some custom inhouse engine by MS that can piggy back so to speak with others. Forza and DR3 are examples. My contact told me they are considering a descent or red faction reboot for next Gen.

Oh and what the hell does this mean? Any validity at all? From a totally different source:
HANNA2

IS JUST NOT A HARDWARE SCALER CHIP ITS VIDEO DISPLAY CHIP! THE GPU DOES THE UPSCALING BY USING A SPECIAL CODE AND ALGORITHM THAT DOES THE UPSCALING AND IT SENDS IT TO THE DISPLAY CHIP! THE "SECERT" TO HANNA IS FIRMWARE AND SPECIAL CODE!

I am sure it is more crazy BS posted above, but I really think the reason COD is 720p and 60FPS is because IW having trouble with hardware.

Yeah, I'm sure most of it is...I mainly post it for fun. But in the IW case, I think that is what the guy is saying, no? For whatever reason, whether it be late access to tools, or just laziness with putting the effort in to learn the new hardware, it still seems to come down to lack of ease in using the new hardware (at this point in time).

The general consensus I gather from all of it is that MS messed up with either changing the hardware late, or getting tools to devs late (or maybe both...the first causing the second, if some 'sources' are to be believed).

And of course their PR isn't doing a great job concerning all of this....which is too bad considering they really stepped up after the E3 debacle.

Day one patch for BF4 would be great, if they can fix the aliasing and a few other things, that would be perfect. Lots of salt required though, obviously.

I'll be shocked if there's actually a Day 1 patch to bring X1 up to native 1080p. I think that's just desperation by some upset X1 fanboys.

I don't think it is laziness. I think it is IW being poor devs. It shows in their first next gen attempt at COD.

OT: Just herd Max Payne doing a commercial for Long Horn Steak House. lol

The day one patch for BF is real. DICE confirmed it. Whether it does anything to the resolution is a different story.

Oh yeah I know the patch is real, but I'm not a believer in the res rumors. But we'll see!

So they're adding the ambient occlusion as well as some other stuff they haven't detailed.

I'd imagine they'd be adding a better AA solution or something. That was really the only minor issue I had with what we've seen so far.

Alex Connellan @AlexConnellan 29 Oct
@repi @digitalfoundry Are there other fixes that aren't in the review copy?

Johan Andersson @repi
@AlexConnellan @digitalfoundry yes there are some, but not something we will go into details about at this time.

As for the 1080p, Johan pretty much knocked that rumor out with this comment.

Simone Azzarello @SimoneAzzarello 29 Oct
@repi It's True? http://www.gamekyo.com/groupnews_article28973.html …

@SimoneAzzarello same AO on Xbox One and PS4 is true, that is the only thing.

The article in question only mentions the AO and 1080p, so if AO is the only thing that is true, 1080p is clearly not happening.

Yeah it's best not to expect a res bump, and if it would happen, it be 900p and no way 1080p. That's just a ridiculous thing to believe, if anyone even does that. AO is good though and better AA would complete it. But I read in an article, I believe it was Arstechnica that said due to a lower res, there is aliasing. :(

Yikes. The jaggies just kill the X1 version for me. The fences in Golmud shifting and shimmering.....what a shame. It's a definite step up from the current gen, but the PS4 version just looks much better. That resolution bump really took care of a lot of the jaggies on that version.
