Call Of Duty: Ghosts Discussion

I keep getting kicked out and getting the error message and server down? Anyone else having this issue, pretty annoying having a day off from work and not being able to play

You do realize the average 'target marketing audience' age of the person that plays CoD has gone down over the years? Even though MW2/MW3 were a bit more realistic looking, they still had that really sh*tty CoD engine look. I get what you're saying about how Black Ops is always more "Disney Land" than Modern Warfare, but this isn't a Modern Warfare title, it's a Ghosts spin-off by a company that tons of the people left & in my opinion the CoD engine is one of the lamest of the past 10 years. There's no excuse other than laziness & greed that the graphics are that bad on Xbox One in multiplayer compared to other games. They can't keep blaming that, "We have to lock it at 60 FPS" excuse when the Xbox One has about 5-10x the power of the 360 yet the game looks almost exactly same from 360 to Xbox One minus some lighting changes multiplayer wise. (I own both copies, it's sad, I only got them because it was a deal, buy one, get one free)

At least there is hope in that rumor that Ghosts was a spin-off to give the companies an extra year finally to make a brand-new engine finally after 10+ years. It's rumored MW4 will be this year by Sledgehammer, then Black Ops 3 by Treyarch the year after. By that time, the old consoles will be out of the picture so lead development would switch to next-gen & ported backwards instead of still being built for 360 & ported up.

I wouldn't say MW2/MW3 had a sh!tty CoD look. Keep in mind that CoD4 was highly rated for it's visuals and touted as the most photorealistic shooter.
MW2 and MW3 were no different. Sure, the low resolution and low resolution textures were a bummer on console, but, it wasn't "ugly".

Games surpassed it visually over the years while the Call of Duty engine hasn't changed that much from year to year, that's what I was getting it. It is 'ugly' to me. I guess everybody is different. I just don't want low-res everything & poor lighting, sorry. It doesn't even look like real environments half the time, it looks like fake everything. I honestly like the look of CoD4 online & the audio clear back then to how it started looking a fake & Disneyland.

the game is borderline unplayable for me, I do not suck at this game and I am having way more negative rounds then normal since the latest update. The framerate is terrible now and I notice lag when before this was one of if not the smoothest online games I have ever played. They better fix this

I was getting weird framerate issues on that big sniper map too on X1 all of a sudden. That explains it.

Oh no... 30fps COD would be a disaster. It ran just fine before the last patch. It probably wasn't holding 60fps, but it was high enough not to bug me.

The problems are related to the game engine. They have never built a new one. They are using the same engine since 1999 & just "modify" it every year. It's designed around ancient hardware. The lead platform for Ghosts was the Xbox 360, then they ported up instead of designing for Xbox One.

exactly... which is why the COD's from here on out should be leagues better, at least technically. LOL

Theoretically better. The problem is developers know that graphics can sell a game as well. So they try to make the graphics as good as possible in most series. Just because you make a new engine, if you push the graphics too hard, (like they usually do) you will have framerate issues. Framerate issues aren't going away for a long time because games 1.) Aren't photorealistic yet while being able to hold a framerate 2.) Resolutions continue to get better that people want...think 4k TV's (the higher you go with resolution the more processing it takes, most games are still 720p upscaled honestly)

Player complaints that a recent update for the Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Ghostsintroduced performance issues, particularly on one of the new Onslaught DLC maps, appear be accurate, according to tests run by Digital Foundry.

Following the release of the patch early last week, which coincided with the launch of theOnslaught DLC pack, players began noticing issues with Ghosts' framerate on Xbox One. This prompted Digital Foundry to examine the issue, including the new Stonehaven level that has been most frequently cited by players as experiencing problems.

"Kicking off with a look at Stonehaven, it's immediately obvious that things are not quite right," states Digital Foundry's report. "While the game does indeed hit 60 FPS in this stage, frame-rates are dramatically impacted when the whole level is in view, with metrics varying between 46-60 FPS as we run across the landscape. As frame-rates fall below the desired 60 FPS target, we also see the appearance of some screen-tear, adding some judder, making drops in smoothness more noticeable."

In addition to this, looking down the scope of a sniper rifle can drop the framerate to the mid-30 frames per second range, a far cry from the 60 FPS norm the Call of Duty series is known for.

Other maps were also put to the test. "[T]he drops in performance are far less severe, with momentary dips occurring during more hectic moments of play or when explosions and alpha effects are rendered on screen," Digital Foundry writes. "Controller response is much more solid, and we don't get the feeling that gameplay has been compromised to anywhere near the same extent as we saw on Stonehaven - the experience remains mostly smooth, even though there's a distinct feeling that things aren't quite as stable as they were before the latest patch was installed."

Activision has yet to offer any explanation for these issues or a timeline for when a patch resolving them can be expected.

What makes this situation odd is the fact that, at launch, the Xbox One version of Ghosts was regarded as smoother than the PlayStation 4 version -- albeit at the expense of being upscaled to 1080p from 720p, whereas the PS4 version runs natively at 1080p.

This must suck for everyone on X1.

I like CoD, but this has got to be the worst CoD in regards to how much this one caters to campers and quick scopers. It's just way too cheap and one sided. I can jump from lobby to lobby, and almost every match now just delves into a camp fest. As a non-camper, I spend most of my time now just trying to fish campers out of their holes, or worse....needing to resort to camping myself.

anyone have the new maps? I havent been playing this lately but ill probably buy the maps anyways tonight. Looking forward to trying out the new gun, looks fun

new maps are pretty good, I am a little rusty, had some good matches and some bad. the new gun is a lot of fun to use

Sooo... hugely late on this, but I got this around last month on clearance for $20 at Target (a digital version). Been playing the campaign and it's pretty sweet so far. Been having fun with it. Riley the Dog is amazing. We need more dog action.

I can't play tonight, when the map starts to load it kicks me out and says something about a server 3.11? Any ideas?

I am still having fun with this. Much more fun with a group of friends so you can actually use teamwork.

Yeah, Ghosts is probably my worst CoD experience when playing with randoms. The maps are just built for teamwork more than past games. I still play Black Ops 2 and i can easily play hero ball and still have a good game. With Ghosts you have to play much smarter.

The game punishes aggressive play unless you have friends to cover you. There are too few rushing routes on the maps and people obviously camp them. Snipers are everywhere and they know exactly where the rushers are coming.

Plus there is like five entrances to every building. So even if you're taking your time someone will sneak up on you and stab you or you'll step on a random mine you can't see.

Yep, there are just too many spots to check. Go too fast and you'll walk right into a camper. Too slow and you'll get spawn killed from the back.

By the way, what is the deal with all these ugly customization packs? The funny thing is it makes people stand out more.

Been playing the online demo tonight, thought it was pretty good so I bought the full game.
Damn you Activision and your promotions!
Next week I'll have Halo 4, Ghosts and Watch Dogs to play, and not enough time...

Why does Ghost get so much hate?
I played more tonight and it's a lot of fun, are the older games that much better?
