Yea I just re-did my current character, can't be bothered doing another full play through, although I'd love an option to be able to re-distribute attribute points at some stage.

The new skill trees are awesome, the new mid air dashes add a whole new dimension to maneuverability especially using blades and knives.

I have Phantom Liberty installed now. I hope the expansion is up to par with W3's expansions.

Played some more this morning. Cyberpunk and Starfield have alot in common. In a perfect world if we could get CDPR and Bethesda to work on one game together, maybe letting CDPR work on the story/quests and combat, while letting Bethesda work on the open world mechanics, we'd have something truly spectacular.

Back on topic: CDPR knows how to do expansions. No doubt about that. Kinda wish they were doing more with Cyberpunk.

What's interesting is software VRS having better image quality than hardware

Cyberpunk 2077's massive Phantom Liberty expansion has arrived, its current-gen only nature allowing CD Projekt RED to push visual fidelity harder than the core game on release. In this tech review, Oliver Mackenzie assesses visual quality and performance in the expansion content, before circling back to the 2.0 update to the core game to see if that has improved over the older code.

01:08 Phantom Liberty visuals and performance
07:06 Patch 2.0 changes and performance

The new patch on Xbox Series consoles doesn't seem to run quite as consistently as the PS5 code. The test driving sequence you'll see in the video above hits frame-rate snags on Series X and has some issues on Series S as well. I definitely felt the game suffering from performance issues somewhat more often in typical play than on the PS5 code, though none of the current-gen consoles are immune from frame-rate issues in their performance modes.

Tiny edge in resolution for the Xbox Series X in Performance mode
PS5 version has better quality in some night scenes, probably related to the usage of HW VRS on the Series
Performance mode is not locked 60 in any console
RT/Quality modes are mostly 30fps
New patch runs better on the PS5 when compared to previous patch
Xbox versions suffer more performance issues than the PS5

With that lower, blurry bottom resolution on PS5, I'm surprised you could even make anything out of the video tbh

From GAF:

TL-DR

- Only supported on new-gen consoles and PC, dropped support for PS4/XBO
- Dogtown has more open and 'car friendly' layout for traversal

Visuals:
- Perf and RT on PS5/SX, and Perf and Quality on Series S

- Perf mode:
- PS5: 1080p~1440p upscaled to 1800p
- SX: 1152p~ 1440p upscaled to 1800p
- SS: 648p~900p upscaled to 1080p

- RT/Quality mode:
- SX|PS5: 1440p upscaled to 2160p
- SS: 1080p upscaled to 1440p

- All 3 consoles have lowered the performance modes max resolution ceilings in the latest patch
- Xbox consoles show signs of hardware VRS
- FSR2 can sometimes 'breaks and re-resolve' image, seen in Quality mode and mostly on Series S
- PS5|SX still have FSR2 related shimmering resolve in some areas, and the peak resolution is lower so they can look a little bit less defined in stills

Performance:
- Dogdown is heavier on resources than most Night City
- All consoles drop from 60fps in open world traversal, mostly pronounced on SS
- Driving can cause performance to drop to 50s or below. Combat also drops but is less intrusive
- 30 FPS Quality mode is also prone to drop frames here and there during fast traversal
- DF thinks it's better to stick to 60FPS even though the FPS dips can be annoying

- Older areas:
- Performance is notably better in Patch 2.0 compared to previous patches in older areas
- SX prone to drop more frames when driving in Night City
- 30 FPS modes are mostly locked 30 with minimal drops

- Most other changes in patch are artistic, eg more notable vignetting in some places, difference in camera placement when driving etc
- Changes here and there in textures, color grading, lighting in some areas also seen
- No notable bugs during DF testing

This game is sooooo good, and I haven’t even started Phantom Liberty. It’s big though, really makes me wish I had more gaming time. Family time always getting in the way haha

This your first time playing it?

I toyed around in the game here and there, but this is my first time getting fully invested. Combat is fun as hell!

Random question, should I finish the main quest before PL?

I probably would so you can level up your characters abilities for the new area, but I read you don't have to and the DLC starts halfway through the main quest

Decided to create a new character since they suggested it. Not sure if I'll be at the game again after Phantom Liberty but considering the different ending options maybe I will even if it goes on the back burner after PL.
