It's not on my radar, so I know little about it. I think it could be good, but it all depends on what you are looking for in a game like this. Might be a better purchase when on sale.

I don't trust reviewers... None of the footage suggests a 5/10. ...

Well that sucks... but mad max is pretty much a 6 and I still enjoyed it, this having zombies automatically brings it up 1,5 points. So I gather it's a 7.5-8/10 for me.
I'll buy it as soon as shenmue 3 releases and I get a ps4 again.

I'm a little surprised to read about technical issues since the game has been in development for so long. In the couple of reviews I've read they seem to agree that combat is the highlight but mission structure gets really repetitive becoming tedious. But if the combat is fun I can see that helping with repetitive missions. I was going to hold off on a purchase since I'm still hooked on The Division 2 but I still see a fun game in all the footage I've watched and will keep an eye out for a sale.

I guess even the hit factory known as Sony Publishing has a dud or two every once in a while. They still have a great track record.

72 is not a bad score. But it’s weird the reviews are so ‘all over the place.’

At the very least this just means that a price drop will come sooner, so that’s a win for me.

It's probably more like a 7.5 type game, from what I can tell. Not the AAA masterpiece we've been getting from Sony lately -- we've gotten spoiled -- but something more middle of the road.

What I’m more surprised about are the amount of bugs/glitches being reported. It’s been in development for a long time and Sony’s games are usually pretty polished technically.

As we've learned from recent titles like crackdown 3 games that score around 7 aren't bad they just aren't anything special, that's what I'm expecting with my overall experience with this game. Hopefully the technical issues get patched out soon, kind of hard to excuse them launching a title with a lot of bugs after it was already delayed.

This was gonna be a day 1 purchase for me until learning about the massive update. The game went gold nearly 2 months ago and they had more time to work on the game. I was really looking forward to it, but I hope they lose a lot of sales for releasing the game in this state.

So much for that site being Sonyspot.

Yes, or the idea that all Sony exclusives automatically get good reviews because they're Sony games. Maybe that conspiracy theory can die a little.

Bummer about the game not turning out as well as some had hoped (me included). I really wasn't in the mood for it right now, so I was going to wait and pick it up later either way. Maybe by then, they will have fixed the bugs and tuned some of the other things.

On Metacritic it's got 49 positive reviews, 30 mixed and 2 negative, that's far from a disaster but it's sure not going to be a classic lol.

They have to throw a bone once in awhile to look unbiased, hence Forza Horizon 4 scoring so well and Days Gone scoring poorly 😁

But seriously I can’t wait to play it Monday when I am back home.

Played it a bit, so far it's not bad and haven't seen any bugs but I haven't done all that much yet.

I've seen it said by multiple others on twitter and such, that based on statements made in that review it's apparent she never even finished the game. I've not relied on reviews to determine a purchase in a very long time personally. However, I think if someone is expecting Days Gone to be on par with something like RDR 2 for example they're going to be let down. I went into this game expecting something that could be likened to Mafia III and I'd say that's about a fair comparison...

I feel a little bad for Sony Bend. I was rooting for them. They must be disappointed in how the reviews turned out. Well, many of the reviews were positive, but overall it was average/mixed. They worked long and hard on the game. In the documentary about the studio, they talked about "biting off more than they could chew" as a typical pattern for them. I guess making the leap from Vita games to a full-blown AAA title was a little too much to handle. They seem like nice, hard working guys. They must be feeling kind of deflated and worried right now.

Well, I hope the game sells okay, regardless of review scores. I'd hate to see the studio shut down. Hopefully Sony will continue to support them, but we know how quickly studios can get shuttered these days. That's kind of worse-case scenario, and I don't think it'll come to pass, but it does cross my mind.

I agree, I follow a few of them on twitter and have been following their marketing for this game and they all seem like they just really believed in this concept. I played a little more tonight after I posted earlier and I still think it seems like a solid game, nothing special but not bad either.

Yup and I feel bad for the Crackdown 3 team. I am pretty sure they are all gamers and people just like us and put their heart and soul into the games.

I enjoyed CD3 a lot with a 60 meta. I know I will enjoy Days Gone when I get back home from vacation. Heck, I am loving World War Z and look at those ratings.
