Are you kidding me? I can't believe how much they toned down this game from the initial reveal! It looks horrible!

For reference, here is the initial reveal:

EDIT: How do you modify the title? It should be new screenshots.

I can believe it. Anyone who thought that was what the game was going to look like was fooling themselves.

That's up there with the Killzone and Motorstorm fiasco. I knew it wouldn't look like that, I mean I haven't seen PC games on that level and ps4 isn't even close to a high end machine.

It's actually might be worse, def worse than the Killzone 2 fiasco.

I don't see a downgrade at all. The camera is simply pulled back so you can't make out the detail.

How did they tone it down?

To me that original trailer looks incredible, especially the effects and models, but these newest shots just look like an average or below average ps4 game.

I think you are just seeing the placebo effect. Nothing about the character models looks any different or better if you look back at the initial reveal.

Did you just post up a YT screen grab? Just making sure that happened. Idk, its pretty laughable how much better the initial reveal looks compared to now, no reason to even debate why.

I don't understand. How is it laughable if you can't even describe what the difference is?

Lets look at this in motion and compare actual gameplay(newer):

to the reveal "gameplay" mind you, the below video is supposed to be earlier footage, so it shouldn't look as good as above :)

I mean, nothing else is really needed. Just the way the debris looks falling around that dragon is unlike anything I've seen, much less the dragon model looks higher poly count than anything I've seen. One of them looks completely next level, the other looks maybe as good as Dragon Age.

If all you feel you saw was a slight change in poly count, then I'd say that means they look identical.

First time I saw that newer game play footage the game looks great and like it will be fun. Thanks for posting it.

Not even close, it honestly looks near a generational leap in terms of animation and effects. Especially the fire effects, and that Dragon blows away anything they have shown recently. Mind you, that was the old build. Also...

Yea, there's really no debate at all.. the two differences are vast. Even Bloodborne looks better than these new screenshots. Lighting, materials, and textures all have taken a few steps back from the initial reveal.

Yeah bloodborne and even Dragon Age look better than this new Deep Down stuff they are showing.

They just look better, we don't have access to motion capture, but I can easily tell they are on another level, but not just that, the overall quality of everything looks better. I love the original's look, even the art style seems a bit lighter, but that's not the point as you can see below. Deep Downgrade. Mind you, the first shot below is supposed to look much more advanced.

I always thought the initial reveal was more about the engine than the game to be honest, the guy who introduced it wasn't all that clear.

"They just look better" is not a reason for why the animations look better. If you cannot tell the differences in animations, there is no shame in admitting it. Especially since there is no reason why the would downgrade the animations in a game with no more than 10 characters on-screen at any time. No need to make up differences if the disparity between the two is so great as you say.

But anyway, that screenshot of yours is the only one of its kind. It is ugly, and for whatever the reason, the textures did not load yet. But that is all it is as all other released media has shown.

The animations are more fluid in the original, much more natural. The part where the knight is repelling the flame from the dragon for example looks incredibly dynamic the way he moves back and forth resisting the force projecting against his shield.

Normal movements like the running and walking are more natural as well. The running animation towards the dragon. The attack animation below, the way the dragon reacts to impact is awesome. Just insane detail and weight.

Whereas now, the game looks like your typical hack and slash wonky animations from 2000. I like the more natural look. Now explain why my opinion isn't good enough, there's no shame in admitting it if you can't. :)

Your opinion is about animation differences that both don't exist and cannot be seen. You are just trying playing armchair developer.

Applesauce doesn't understand perspective. The unveiling was in first person, in a dimly lit cave and showed detail up close. These pictures are in third person from far away.

 Everything is fine. Nothing to see.

lmao, that's beyond a simple downgrade. The lighting in the new build isn't bad imo, but still not as good, not to mention everything else is downgraded.
