I don't like Crucible either but call to arms (unlocks after doing the quickplay & competitive Milestons) is one of the few activities to offer powerful gear.

One simple rule to live by in Crucible is 'stick together,' if you do that then you will have a much easier and less frustrating time.

Yep, not a big crucible fan, but I sat through 10 matches to get my reward. I was stuck getting 265 gear. After finishing Call to Arms, I broke that.

I don't mind the concept, but my main gripes are:

-the gap between the soft cap and hard cap is too much
-it is WAY too fast/easy to hit the soft cap. You hit 265 long before you'll finish the content. Now I have all these extra adventures around and no real purpose to do them other than to farm purples and exotics, but mostly just to make them disappear off the map.

265 just seems weird and too fast to me. Make it 285 or something and make that extra bit still for the high level content.

That's exactly how it used to work in D1 and it was kind of rubbish. Just waiting for the RNG gods to give you something better. I prefer this way where you complete the Powerful Gear tasks, which in turn raises your average light level, which in turn raises the level of engram drops, which in turn then raises the Powerful Gear average drop again. It's a nice cycle of constant improvement.

The issue most players seem to have with getting stuck around 265 is that they haven't completed the exotic quests for the Rat King, mida multi tool or the Strum pistol. Plus with Xur having arrived with 270 armour, there was a way to raise your average light level again.

Then there Mods. The gunsmith sells a random selection of purple mods. Each one gives you +5 light and each weapon and armour piece can hold one. So that's 3 mods for guns and 5 for armour, giving you 8 mods, for a total of 40 extra light.

These mechanics are much better than D1. They are just poorly explained in the game and a little hard to figure out.

I would say it is actually too easy to progress.

And the timer crap in Nightfall is lame.

Yeah it is kind of lame alright. But once you get the hang of the Prsim modifier you can melt enemies fairly quickly. Took us I think 3 attempts to get beat it with more than 5 mins on the clock to get the Rat King. All said though, I would have preferred a different mechanic for Nightfall.

I actually like RNG but I see what you are saying. The thing I like about random drops is that it makes things more rare. If all it takes are doing certain tasks then everybody is running around with the gear that is supposed to be considered unique.

So I guess when I get an exotic drop I should think about infusing my legendaries with it?

So, are you actually switching guns? The group I went with wasn't bothering with that. Which would make it harder.

They could make it 500 and it would still Fast and easy because it was designed to be so.

Going beyond 265 isn't hard either. Flashpoints take an hour. Call to Arms takes 2 hours. Both will take you beyond 265.

Nope. Unique stuff comes from end game content such as Trials and the Raid. Neither of which gets completed by a huge percentage of players.

I think I'm just burnt out a bit on the game. Played it a little too hard and need a break. I'm not worried about leveling up. Unless they change something, events will usually drop higher level stuff.

It still is kind of odd that there's no heroic strike or something else. There does seem to be a gap in content for us "tweeners". I am looking forward to trying the nightfall with guided games.

I still need to farm a whole bunch of legendaries and exotics of course.

If you are going to use the exotic to raise your character then the best use of it would be to infuse into something you are using. Pay attention to the Mod slots. If you have an exotic at 275 and it has a mod slot + 5, that means the base value for the exotic is 270. So if you infuse that into a legendary that is 265 and has no mod or a blue mod, you will get the legendary infused to 275, which is the exotic value, but then you also get the +5 mod, giving you 280. I think there is a soft limit on the amount you can infuse up too but I'm not sure.

having seen the gear people get after 10+ hours of Raid  better off just doing heroic strikes or something

what a terrible game design, doing Raid should get you incredible stuff

also watched Angry Joe's review, i played this game every day pretty much, enjoy it alot but i still agree with everything he said lol
Hes a level 240 yet said he tried the raid...
His review is bs..obviously click bait.

So, are you actually switching guns? The group I went with wasn't bothering with that. Which would make it harder.

If you don't switch guns to follow the burn cycle you haven't got a hope. Using solar during a void or arc phase means you do no damage of any value. The only weapons not impacted by the burn cycle are kinetic weapons but they also get no damage bonus. So basically every 30 seconds you should be swapping to your energy or heavy weapon and if you don't have ammo or that burn, just use kinetic

So your fireteam didn't swith from energy weapon to kinectic/ power?

It was my first doing Nightfall and asked them if that's what they were doing. I had each of the energy types and wanted to know if they had a strategy. All they were doing was moving as fast as they can. That doesn't work.

I agree with you. Weapons need to be cycled to advance.

The way we did it was to have a different element for both energy & power weapons, that way atleast 2 people can damage per cycle.

You do need to rush, but areas are gated and you need to kill them as quickly as possible.

If I remember correctly there was talk of possibly cross-platform multiplayer in this. Is that still the case?

So seems this currednt maintenance is fixing the Prism change issue and is also adding a screen effect too.

How is it close?

Where is the challenge? Where is the investment, the grind? Nowhere is the answer. It is way too easy.

It is not too easy. It's well balanced. Where's the investment? I've 100 hours plus in the game already and you've way more. There is the investment. Where is the grind? Repeating the end game missions is the grind. The thing you've bee doing since reaching level 20. So no, I don't agree at all. I think they've balanced the game and play/reward system much better than the first one.

Yep. That's the way to do it.

Player 1: void secondary, arc heavy
Player 2: arc secondary, solar heavy
Player 3: solar secondary, void heavy

Two players then are always doing burn damage while one uses kinetics.

It's also a good idea to go with the all using the same super and then melt the boss when that burn comes along.

That isn't investment, that is just playing the game. There is no investment anywhere in this game.

That isn't grinding at all either. Especially when you factor in that all that stuff becomes irrelevant at 265..

They haven't balanced it well atall. they went from one extreme to another.

Unless your name is D-V-ANT, in which case you just die right before super time:tounge:
