To be fair, those transactions are options and everything should be in the game.

I was reading there's an issue of you already started a game, but wanted to restart and there's no new game option.

The game looks fun and plan on playing today.

Those reviews have players only 30 to hour into the game.

wow - none of that is in the console version as far I've seen. that's some serious BS.
They haven't added yet....

What I heard was this is POST release. very dubious the review copies did not have them, & no one know until today.

I will be very disappointed if this is something that they continue with and move onto consoles. Yeah, especially sneaky if no review copies had it.

Now you know they they ban mods.....so they can sell you mods.....
The getting rid of "inapproiate" mods are only excuses.

The title screen does display "Microsoft Store", I didn't click. I imagine that's where you purchase those items.

Despite what's been touted and my limited time playing so far, I'm enjoying it. Still way too early, but they do get you going faster than the original.

Okay so they are earnable and usable in game without purchasing that's a good thing

Xbox with the better framerate but has a strange graphical Glitch.

NPCs spawning 2 meters from the player in towns and still running at under 30fps is just embarrassing.

I am going to start playing in a bit but it seems like they should have either taken longer with this game and reworked the engine to be more compatible with this type of game or maybe worked on upgrading the old monster hunter engine,

Don’t get me wrong, I’m loving the game so far. It’s Dragon Dogma through and through. It’s just bad business to have pay to win transactions like that in a full price game for single player.

In visual settings, the PS5 and Series X are matched with each other, with similar shadow resolution, draw distances and texturing (time of day differences can suggest otherwise, but we're fairly confident about platform parity here). Both machines also use a checkerboard rendering technique, which is a familiar choice for RE Engine titles. Unfortunately though, the image resolve on Series X appears to be broken as of the launch build, with the visuals completely obscured by a fine grid of checkerboarding artefacts. It's a really disappointing issue and it should be resolved soon. RE Engine titles do seem to have recurrent challenges with checkerboarding on consoles - and it never seems to work properly on PC - so this isn't totally unexpected, but it's quite bad in this instance.

Producing an actual pixel count proved unusually difficult, as the game's motion blur can't be disabled - making it hard to find raw edges - and Series X is virtually uncountable as a result of its image quality issues. On PS5 it looks like the game runs at a checkerboarded 4K, and it's likely this is replicated on Series X. The PS5 at least has decent enough image quality, and it does a largely competent job of resolving a crisp image. Foliage does pose a bit of a concern though, as it tends to have considerable artefacting in motion.

Comparing the two consoles side-by-side for a moment, the Series X scores roughly a 10 percent or a circa-4fps performance win over the PS5 in matching shots. This isn't totally like-for-like because of the Series X's issues with resolving a proper checkerboarded image, but this does seem to be a pretty straightforward Series X win when GPU-limited. When-CPU limited the results are a little more ambiguous, with the PS5 seeming to take a performance win while performing the same run around the city. The one saving grace is that Series X has VRR support with low frame-rate compensation at 120Hz. That makes the game look smoother, relatively speaking, but city areas are again subpar with plenty of frame-variance that isn't tamed by the variable refresh rate - and PS5 doesn't support LFC at all, so its VRR is of more limited use.

Capcom's PC ports are always hit or miss. I got my refund from Steam. I'll wait until they patch it before buying it again. I have Horizon Forbidden West on PC to tide me over. Now that is a port worth playing. Thanks Nixxes/Sony.

Yeah, every once in a while, these days, I'll bite the bullet and go for a day 1 release. Unfortunately, it's almost better to keep playing those backlogs of games and slowly catch up. You'll get a better game overall and discounted.

Been playing for a few days and having a good time. It's basically Dragon's Dogma 1; which isn't a bad thing.

The only issue is a constant saving bug on the series S. From what I read, it's an Xbox issue and not necessarily a DD2 issue. My series X doesn't do it. It's easy to get out of the constant saving issue, but it's a little annoying.

The outrage is ridiculous though, all of these things can be earned in game easily, they aren't making you grind for hours to earn something and then giving you the option of paying $10 for it otherwise. This is just for people who decide they want to take some shortcuts and the prices are very low thankfully. Did any of the reviews complain that any of the things these microtransactions covered were overly difficult before they found out that these were going to be sold? I didn't see anyone mention those so why is holding them off after review such a big deal? Now if they had some grind fest nonsense that took 20 hours to earn something in game and sold it for over $10 I could see some of the complaining but I just don't see that here at all.

For me it's not that the dlc is in the game just that they waited till after the reviews to add it. That just made it look shady.
Not even sure why they felt the need.
The reviewers completely ignored it's many tech issues to give it 8s and above so I doubt being able to buy stuff you can also unlock just by playing would make them lower the score.

But yeah some of the reactions are reactions just to get attention.
