EDGE The power of the crowd: how critical and consumer feedback made Xbox One a contender again

Microsoft’s exclusives are more convincing than anything Sony has shown on PS4 to date. Killzone is no Halo; DriveClub, now delayed, never looked like measuring up to Forza; and Dead Rising 3 now looks like a smarter bet for open-world mayhem than Second Son.
Even a second-tier title like Ryse makes a stronger case for its host hardware’s graphical capabilities, at least, than anything set for PS4’s launch day

Considering Valliance(cutting) put an Edge article as his avatar on TXB(when it was negative X1 news of course) I can't wait to see his response to this. Edge, dat gospel.

This ^^

I think this is going to be a very interesting holidays. The best part is going to be when everyone can finally see the games running side by side and realize just how wrong they were about the SOOPER DOOPER 50-60% Alleged performance disparity between the two consoles!

I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the show. I actually dropped my PS4 pre-order. I had every intention of picking it up (still have the receipt for proof), but there was just NOTHING at launch that made me want to get it. Aside from a few games, none of the interesting bits are there to lure me in (i.e, snap, cloud, kinect, voice controls, smart-glass etc. etc.) There are some games coming down the line that will finally lure me to the PS4, but who knows HOW FAR those are out. I could be waiting another year.. or two.

Naaa, im just going to save some money, focus on the XB1, and enjoy!

As for Edge, even though it seems like a balanced bit, they have shown time and time again to be "leaners" and contradictory.. this very article is proof of that! There are many other, BETTER, places to get gaming and tech information, so I would steer clear of Edge.

The last few paragraphs sum it up nicely. As I've said many times before. Go with PS4 if you care about saving a few bucks. Or go with X1 for the games and service. Games first for me.

But at last, the next generation is a prizefight again. PS4 has the power and the more attractive price; Xbox One has a more appealing slate of early games and a cloud infrastructure that will have a tremendous bearing on its multiplayer offering. Microsoft has proven it can take advice and Xbox One is better for it, while losing only a little of what made it unique in the first place.

“The platform continues to have the same features that make it great,” says Harrison. “It has the power of the cloud, the Xbox Live service, the largest online gaming service on the planet, and the proven operating system.

“We’ve made some architectural decisions in the way our platform is designed that make it really powerful, particularly around HDMI [in], where we can take a videostream from another device and blend that into Xbox One in a seamless, instant way. All that is going to create a really special platform, and ultimately it’s about the games. And we have the best games.”

It's nice that MS is finally on the ball, seems like every week they're announcing new/updated features of the XB1. This is prolly the most critical time too, just upon a month from launch, keeping the XB1 fresh in consumers minds is a smart move. Fresh new features, first party launch games that are only getting better and better the more they are shown, the XB1 is beastin. Funny the PS4 came outta the gate swinging, however, it seems to have dropped off the face of the earth lately, nary a peep, it's been all XB1.

I feel bad for having clicked on that link.

Edge is s***.

I think for many PS4 gamers who pre-ordered a console back in the summer are in for a rude awakening. I bet many have pre-ordered and haven't/won't bother reading sites for updates for X1 and PS4. They made up their mind during the reveals and E3. Although any gamer with a DC or WD pre-order would have gotten news by now.

Over the past two months, the tides have turned in favour of X1 as MS has shown so much more, while Sony has basically still said nothing (still 3 weeks to go though). Not surprised one bit that X1 pre-orders are just as sold out as PS4. Have fun trying to find sites that offer them unless you are willing to buy a pre-canned store bundle where they force you to buy 2 games and an extra controller. And even that might be sold out.

I'm not surprised at the PS4 coming out of the gates fast. Sony always does that, while MS takes longer. Nintendo is the slowest and quietest as always. Whether it's Wii dominating or Wii U tanking, it's the same Nintendo. Call it lazy, call it unshaken, call it whatever. Nintendo hardly flinches.

Eh piss off Edge. LOL. Wasn't too long ago that they were first to jump on the dog pilling when it was popular to hate on the X1, now they wanna back peddle and celebrate its arrival next month? Bu,bu bu bu dat 50% powah on PS4! Nah I don't buy this sudden change of heart. Theyyre in it for the hits only. Serously though - atleast keep your dignity and take a stance without flip flopping.

Just because the dog stops crapping in your front yard and craps in your neighbors yard instead doesn't mean that he's now laying truffles.

When both the PS4 and XB1 are close in having the same games, you need something to give each console an identiy, its own pizazz, something that makes the other stand out from its rival. We all know Kinect is never gonna be widely used for real gameplay, the controller is too damn enjoyable to use anyway. You can't reinvent the wheel when it doesn't need reinventing. But Kinet will compliment that wheel. In games, menus jumping,tv,and apps. The games will always be there for both machines. But you sorta need that wild card to grab the public's attention. Think Microsoft hit a home run with the new Kinect feaures now.

When they released that whole "This is your next console" cover with the PS4, even many PlayStation fans considered that kind of unprofessional and sensationalist of them.

I remember posters on TXB thought I was being overly sensitive when that article went public and said the same thing; it was purely unprofessional journalism. I still stand by that...

More like laughs as it was funny as hell when many of you guys were saying Sony paid em off and they were Sony biased...even after ketto posted them with other consoles besides PS on their covers..and now they are giving XBO some praise and all is good right? LMAO.

I used that cover as a avy because it represents the majority of gamers choice for the next gen...
