ever feel down about your age?

I turn 40 in a week and I still feel I haven't peaked in my life yet. Im not down about my age. I'm going to be taking the CPA exam soon just to finish what I started and I'm in the best shape I've been in 22 years. I'm running a half marathon at the end of October.

I'll never give up. Onward and upward!!!!

I'm not too worried about my age, mostly because of the track my father's life took. He did a lot of interesting stuff before he settled down, became successful professionally (finance) while balancing that being a good dad for my brother and I. I never grew up thinking there was a schedule I needed to be on.

Also, i'm young still so I don't have much to feel down about. Ask me again in a decade.

It's kind of odd seeing your siblings get old.
Yea I feel that way too. My brother is 10 years older than me which really sucks now that I look back on when I was younger. Sure there were some good times but damn he was gone to college when I was still a little kid. I think that gets me down more than thinking of my own age.

I feel bad that I didn't service my mom's best friend like Desso did. I'm going to put that on my bucket list. Okay, so she's 80 now, so what. Never say never!

I'm 49, I feel young mentally but have Sjogren's syndrome and fibromyalgia and sometimes that makes me feel older and a bit depressed because I can't do the things I want to do. But mostly I've enjoyed my life and where I'm at. My husband and I have been married for almost 28 years and have a two grown daughters that are great kids. It is weird when you go to a family gathering and there's cousins there that I haven't seen for 15 or more years and they look so much older or we take a family group shot and you look at the pictures and wonder when your brother got so old - and then you wonder "do I look that bad too"!

Da
I cracked 50 recently. That made me feel old, chronologically. Inside, I still feel about 30 most of the time, sometimes younger. I get down sometimes, but it's usually about various disappointments in myself, in others, or in life in general. I don't usually get down about my age per se.

I welcome death's sweet embrace.

Yes. Kind of regret losing sight of my goals while I was in undergrad. Cost me 4 years of my life.

So now I am 28 in my last year of law school, won't be a lawyer until I am 29(hopefully if I pass on the first try).

It sucks, cause I know there is no competition between myself and my older brother, like at all, he has been one of my greatest influences and support, but I can't help to sometimes compare myself to him and it makes me feel worse about my age.
look at it this way, its better now then never. You should pat your self in the back and also you are far to young which is good.

I'm 33.

I haven't accumulated as much money or as many assets as many people my age have, but I have had some pretty good experiences and have done plenty of things many/most of my peers haven't, so I don't really feel too "down". I moved to a totally different country, have got a decent working knowledge of the language and culture and I have tried my hand at a couple of small businesses without financially ruining myself. One, I recouped my initial investment and the second I made a little bit of money, but I had to ditch it for personal reasons.

I probably should start saving and working a bit harder and taking things a bit more seriously, but I still think I have enough time to do that.

I turned 40 this year and I really don't feel bad about it at all, I try my best to not worry about things I can't control and we all get older with each passing day. Actually if anything I'm glad I've made it this far, I'd much rather be getting older than the alternative. I guess it helps that people always tell me I look late 20's, well that is until I let facial hair grow in a bit and some gray starts showing up lol.

I'm 34 and had middling to terrible jobs the first 5 years out of college. Job still kind of sucks actually...so yes, my age does depress me. One kid with one on the way though, which is good...but expensive.

Just a year out of college. Don't feel down about my age at all, but it is tough being friends with a bunch of people who are going to doctors/engineers who are going to make more money quicker than I will.

But that just makes me work harder.

I'm also 31 and at this point, I feel like I'm always constantly racing against time. I heard Google is working on life extension?

Edit: Happy Birthday Godsmack!

Was talking to kind of a trashy girl yesterday who said to me.. "How come you are so 'on top of the world' at such a young age?"

I told her I was 35.. she said she'd guess I was 25, but only because of my car and how well I dress, otherwise she'd think I was her age.. I asked and she was 19.

Like a boss. I guess?

Wonder how long I can keep that up.. looking like I'm in my early-mid twenties. I have a feeling at some point I'll just look like a creepy old guy trying to look young, lol.

Not sure I'd want to look like a 19 year old...

36 has been a doozie.

In July I had what they called a mini-stroke. Was on my way in work and got light headed and when I went to take my sunglasses off, my left hand was numb and like it fell asleep. Felt weird and not myself for about 20 minutes and my speech was off. Went to the Dr. and they did all the tests for a full blown stroke but said it wasn't that. It was a 'transient' event, meaning it didn't leave any permanent issues. So I had an MRI that night to check things out and see if blood flow to the brain was an issue. Checked out ok, but they found two small white spots. I guess any white areas are to be concerned about and could be signs of things like MS but they said they were in areas that were not specific to anything like that really. So they suggested just keeping an eye on them for any changes.

In addition I also had an ultrasound on my heart and neck to further check blood flow. Upon investigation of my heart they found that I've got a small, they called it tiny, hole in my heart that is called a PFO. Guess I was born with it and just never realized I had it. Doesn't seem to be any huge cause of alarm, but it could be part of what caused the mini-stroke. They think I might have had a small blood clot that passed through the hole and into my brain.

So I then had a TEE done...which is when they put a camera down your throat for a more detailed image of your heart. That came back finding no other defects and only confirmed what they saw on the ultrasound.

I have another MRI next week to keep tabs on the little white spots to see if there's any change there. Hopefully not.

But for the heart thing, they basically just said I have to take 2 low dose aspirin a day for the rest of my life to help keep my blood thinned out to help prevent any clots. They could potentially close the hole in my heart, but I guess studies haven't shown that there's any real benefit from it and any future events are not reduced by this. The fact is they really haven't done enough research to know if this helps at all so they just aren't doing it now unless you do have a second event, etc.

So just sitting tight, trying to stay healthy by keeping cholesterol and whatnot in check. Fun stuff...

So ya, maybe TMI, but damn getting old kind of sucks.

I really don't look like a 19 year old, people almost always say 25 when I ask them to guess.. that sort of ambiguous "fully grown man who is still really young" sort of age guess.

When I was in my late 20's or even up until 30 or so I'd get "19" a lot.. or carded for cigarettes or at casinos.

Wow, that's a lot to deal with but now you know what is going on and can possibly make some changes and be on some meds that will help keep you healthy and be aware if any other red flags occur. I know a lot of people, including myself who may have brushed off being lightheaded and the numbness in the hand so thank God you decided to go and get checked out. Hope your tests come back with some good results!

Lol thinking about Age and medical s***.

I'm just 37 but already had my Gall Bladder taken out. It was jammed full of Gall Stones.

I'm also kind of susceptible to Gout in my foot.

Yeah that sucks @Shockwave.

Had some weird medical s*** happen to me recently.. woke up blind in one of my eyes, and it's happened more than once. I have a Neurologist already due to some severe headache issues.. but nothing was found on my latest round of tests.

*shrug*

One of these days I'm just gon die.. I can feel it!

YOU ALL GON DIE!
