If true, good to see EVO use the higher quality version even if on a last gen system. Moneyhatting takes a back seat for tournament participants.

Mr. Wizard confirms Xbox 360 will be system of choice for USF4 at EVO 2015 if PS4 bugs are not addressed, Ono looking into problems personally

The recent release of Ultra Street Fighter 4 for PS4 has been full of glitches and bugs ranging in severity from slow menus to Juri doppelgangers appearing on the screen.

To make matters worse, the PS4 version is supposed to be the tournament standard. That may not be the case anymore if a patch isn't incoming. Joey "Mr. Wizard" Cuellar has confirmed that Evolution will be using the Xbox 360 version of Ultra Street Fighter 4 if the issues are not addressed.

Continue reading below to see the brief conversation and Ono's own reply to the situation.

In a recent tweet, Joel Ortiz asked, "Hypothetically, if it's still this broken at EVO, will you use [the] 360 version again?"

Mr. Wizard simply replied, "Yes."

Even Yoshinori Ono has become involved in the PS4 situation:

We will continue to keep you updated on the situation with the PS4 version of Ultra Street Fighter 4 and the question of console tournament standards as we find out more.

So what are we saying here? The 360 beats the PS4? I always knew the 360 was a beast but wow, taking down the PS4. That's a feat.

Shu Yoshida

"Fortunately we have a product for people who want to play Ultra Street Fighter 4, it's called PS3..."

I can't believe the game was released in that state. When I saw the issues with it, a few days back, I couldn't believe how broken the game is. It's one of the most broken games I've ever seen released.

LOL!

This just proves that the 360 is the best console ever.

I already knew.

I knew.

PS4 version is borked.

this is not the only game, there is a hand full that its a full price and cant work right off the bat.

Other Ocean messed up the Mortal Kombat Kollection as well.

It will be a competition between this and the 360/PS3 versions of Mortal Kombat X by High Voltage for the worst fighting game port of the year.

High Voltage has been around for ages. How they survive who knows. Most of the games they make are trash. They must have extremely cheap people on the payroll.

Every movement is the sound of smashing a car or can.
Ahhh.... I'm not familiar with recent SF games. I thought those smashing sounds were the cars in the background constantly and annoyingly ramming up and down.

Watching it again, yeah the blue guy is always making a loud crashing sounds. But the yellow guy seems fine.

Sony lied about the input lag.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015...v-hits-ps4-tuesday-new-enhancements-detailed/

A few of you hardcore Street Fighters out there said that there was minor input lag in the controls of Ultra Street Fighter IV for PS3. Well, don’t worry: We’ve eliminated it to make the PS4 edition the ultimate version on any platform!

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2015-ultra-street-fighter-4-ps4-face-off

There's also the issue with input lag to consider - Sony promised improvements to this particular limitation of the PS3 version even going so far as to highlight this feature on the PlayStation blog. It's obvious right from the start that this is, in fact, not at all true. Our initial sense suggested that we were looking at roughly the same amount of lag already present in the PS3 version.

In order to test this ourselves, we recorded video of the display and controller at 120fps while analysing the time between button press and the action occurring on-screen. We retained standard settings on our display, which operates with around 40ms of input lag, and saw an average of 140ms in end-to-end latency. Removing the 40ms of display lag from the equation, we're looking at around 100ms, translating to approximately six frames of input lag - which is comparable to the PlayStation 3 version of the game, but slower than the Xbox 360 iteration. Due to a compatibility issue with our sticks, we were only able to test the game using a Dual Shock 4 but there are some reports online of certain sticks exhibiting additional latency.

Ultra Street Fighter 4 on PS4 - the Digital Foundry verdict
Ultimately, this release left us rather baffled. Aside from the increase in resolution, every other version of the game remains superior in various ways. While it's still Street Fighter 4 at its heart, the quality of the conversion simply isn't what fans of the series deserve. It may be quite playable for the casual players - but clearly it's designed to appeal to hardcore users still enjoying the title and looking for a console upgrade to at least bring it up to par with the PC release. All of the promotional material was focused on hyping this version as the definitive version and everything was in place for it to become the de facto edition for tournament use. It felt like Sony and Capcom really cared about the fighting game audience and were trying to do right by them with this all-encompassing release but the end results just feel sloppy.

It appears that both Sony and Capcom are actively looking into this situation, and we can only hope it will be just a matter of time before it is fixed. As a digital-only release, potential patches are less of an issue here than they would have been had this game been released on disc. The question we have is whether or not Other Ocean will actually fix the many and varied issues the game suffers from. After all, despite receiving patches, its release of the Mortal Kombat collection on PlayStation 3 remains a complete mess to this day (constant screen-tear on a 2D fighter? Really?). On the plus side, the raw basics do seem to be in place on USF4, and the game certainly seems fixable, with its steady frame-rate during gameplay standing as a solid foundation.

However, for the time being the game has been dropped from the Capcom Pro Tour - which includes both Evo and Community Effort Orlando 2015 - until further notice. While the game may be patched in the future it's going to be difficult to win back the trust of the fighting game community at this point. When a port of a seven-year-old game ships in such a state, aimed at such a dedicated fanbase, but comparing poorly to the PC and even the Xbox 360 releases, you have to wonder about the state of quality control in the industry these days.

If they wanted a lazy port, all they had to do was use the PC code with the minimal amount of work.

It appears they ported the PS3 version and managed to completely break it in many different ways.

Xbox 360 saves the day for the tournament scene.

That's what happens when Capcom outsources a game to a dev whose track record is small budget games and indie games. The game is supposedly made by the same dev that made that free GwG iDarb game. A dev that focuses on $5 and cheaper games.

Capcom basically gave the contract to whomever had the lowest bid. That's something that may be reasonable if Capcom wanted to port old SNES games, but for high profile franchises that's some mighty high risk/reward type of gambling.

And Capcom rolled snake eyes.

Cool. Didn't know the PS4 version gave Guile extra moves like this Double Sonic Boom projectile. Pretty innovative.

Pull back 3 seconds, then press forward and punch. You shoot another Guile, and then that second Guile shoots the projectile.

Sweet.

You would think they would be a bit more careful with a port they had already decided was going to be the tournament standard before it released.

Give it to Iron Galaxy, at least they have a great track record with Capcom fighting game ports. Other Ocean couldn't even release emulated MK games without screen tearing, sound glitches and the entire view being off centre with borders cut off.

Capcom had nothing to do with this port outside of it being their IP. Sony handled the outsourcing, development, production, release date, developer selection etc etc...

Iron Galaxy was busy doing Gods' Work. No time for cheap, impossible time-table port jobs.

It's pretty damn sad. A lot of games are coming out trash these days and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. I can't believe capcom did this, I really can't lol. I'm not even a fan of the game but damn this is horrible. Same with Microsoft and Halo MCC and every other half ass game that's been released broken this gen.

Oh really? wow so sony is to blame for this? that is even worse.

Really? Wow. Didn't know that as everyone on forums is criticizing Capcom. You sure about this?

But if it is Sony handling the actual development. Wow. No wonder they've kept their mouths shut. If they are the ones being cheap and partnering with Other Ocean, they should speak up and take some blame as it seems Capcom is getting the brunt of it, since it's their franchise.

Problem is that over the last few gens, companies (even the big ones) seem to be outsourcing more and more. I don't think it was like this during the Genesis and PS1 eras. The big companies had various dev teams in house, with many having additional arcade roots dev teams.

Arcade gaming is dead aside from some rehashed games, so companies have cut back on those teams. Yet it seems they are cutting back on in house console teams too.

A shame really.

What's even odder is that despite all these cut backs. most gaming companies still lose money despite console gaming being bigger than ever and tons of games selling millions of copies. Most games during those eras 20 years ago had hardly any games selling a million.
