Forbes - Xbox Losing This Gen Is A Good Thing

You are basing that on a faulty premise. Nothing can undo the damage MS did to themselves at the start of the gen. The performance is there. The X1 has seen an uptick in performance since BC & gamepass were added. It isn't like exclusive games have got better, and the boosted performance came before E3 and the studio news.

You have to keep in mind I am talking about game based services here.

As I said before, I think we are both right.

As for Ninty...they beat to their own and have never been in direct competition with the other two...atleast not since the wii anyway.

Ps3 had similar issues but GAMES turned it around for Sony. Secondly the Xbox won NPD's early this gen so what's your excuse for the past 2 years? If Xbox had strong line up they could win NPD's but there's no compelling games on the system outside a few rehashes.

GAMES are the first thing people look at when buying consoles not services and features hence the current state of Xbox.

If that were true then I sure would not own an Xbox. As it stands now, I have so many great games to play on it, exclusives and multi, it’s almost overwhelming.

State of Xbox? Great sales, great consoles (excluding the One OG), and Microsoft just reported in their quarterly report that Xbox had its best quarter ever.

If that is a bad state, sign me up.

You are delusional

Xbox AAA line up 2018

1. SoT
2. Forza

Lol They aren't even trying.

In the 40 million sold thread 6 or 7 million Xbox consoles sold in 2018 is what they calculated.

It's sad that the numbers are so bad with switch on it's way to surpassing the xbo and the X being such a great piece of tech with MS doing so much right.

Odd that the Xbox one has been on 40m all year despite also selling 6 or 7m

These numbers are pointless and the only ones who know are MS

Hedon What did I miss? The game issue is obvious. You can pretend it don't exist but it's not reality

I am not gonna take your bait nor get in a console war with you. We will agree to disagree as adults and move on. Thank you.

Losing every gen isn't good though.
Thankfully Xbox is riding a high(minus exclusives) going into next gen.

While partially true it isn't the entire story as a business.
Business wise losing more money every successive generation would be a far worse blow. In that sense Microsoft is doing well.
In marketshare and mindset they are losing but clawing small bits back as well.

Pretty sure MS would like to be in first place, but they are content with having been in 2nd place every gen so far.

Didn’t Nintendo win whatever gen the Wii was, and as a pure gaming console?
Wii won gen 7 with over 100 million sold. Wii U lost gen 8 miserably. Switch, based on the current sales, could win gen 9.

^Xbox was 2nd 1 time and that was with the og Xbox.
It currently is 2nd but Switch will surpass it.

Wasn’t the 360 1st for that brief period, until near the end just shifted focus on the one, only then after the new gen started did the PS3 come up above the 360?

June 9th 2014, Microsoft announced the 360 sold 84 million (And that was 2 years before it was discontinued):

The PS4 has finally overtaken the PS3 in Sony's latest financial report

This morning, Sony announced its first quarterly financial results, revealing that their current high-end console, PlayStation 4 has shipped 82.2 million units since launch, putting it ahead of its predecessor, PlayStation 3.

July of last year.

But some still try to claim it out sold the 360...

It probably did, who knows, but honestly, does it really matter now? We’re at the cusps of a new generation and it’ll all be reset, well who knows for the Switch.

The links Hendon posted show it didn't. Just not sure why some can't accept Sony finishing 3rd?

End of the day Wii won that gen with ease.

As for next gen I really have no idea what to expect apart from the worry of an even heavier online focus.
