It depends. It's a balance act.

If they didn't release those on the PS3, would they have established the strong fanbase they have now? And if people saw how they supported last gen consoles up to the launch of the next, doesn't this instill confidence in their next-gen console as well?

Graphics will be fine. Once titles start being developed exclusively to next-gen, I'm sure the fidelity will rise. Look at The Order. It's a 2nd year product and it's already on the level of the best looking PC games out right now. I, for one, can't wait to see how Destiny 2 will be like since I've read somewhere that Destiny is being held back by last gen consoles.

Its called splitting the difference, neither has to starve and one of them did. Its business though, lets see 80million vs 5 million (2013) market share

Read above post. Neither had to starve. PS3 was selling consoles like crazy the first 2 years with literally no games.

Well we can debate whether they did the right thing but the bottom line is they didn't change their approach to retail games. If they shut all their studios down then I will agree.

That's the point, they can do the wrong thing and still win. They could delay every exclusive they had this year and this thread would have people saying "but dat 2016 tho" Neogaf would have went off, and the focus would have turned to No Man's Sky being the only real revolutionary game anyway.

I mean sony has a loyal bunch, I'll give them that all day.

Change it from last gen? No they kept it the same, but I always thought that was because of the cell and I guess you could argue the emotion chip form the ps2 days. Guess none of that was correct and its all strategy.

MS has a crazy loyal fanbase compared to sony, sure. It's about the size difference between here and Neogaf.

Well as long as you changed your mind. Personally I thought their 2013 lineup was a better reason to do so but hey I don't have 10 year old arguments with random people to continue. Don't worry I am sure we can find a new way to turn all their indie games into a negative.

Well the PS4 is more popular so thats no surprise.

ps3 was crazy popular in the first 1-2 years with no games, no surprise with their fanbase

Tomb Raider is coming to the PS4. MS has a timed exclusivity deal for about six months (similar to Plants vs. Zombies last year).

MS got Tomb Raider to have something to compete with Uncharted 4. Their move looks even smarter now that the Uncharted 4 got delayed. The game doesn't have to compete with Uncharted 4 -- Tomb Raider will get all of the spotlight.

On top of this, the game may come to the PS4 even later now depending on what month Uncharted 4 releases (older game competing with a new hyped game). We'll see though.

SSM did not work much on The Order, they are making a new God Of War which has no chance of coming out this year.

GG have a new I.P called Horizon, and again I expect it be to 2016 but could be 2015 as it has been worked on for over 3 years.

Guerilla Cambridge could be working on a new Resistance. Sony Bend are working on a new I.P but I'd say its unlikely to be 2015. Sony London are working on morpheus so expect nothing. Bluepoint who are not owned by Sony seem to be working on an Uncharted trilogy remastering though. If any game from SCE is coming this fall its from Japan Studio since they are the biggest and it could be Gravity Rush 2 or even TLG (lol I wish). This is not even taking into account a Ratchet and Clank will be coming this year and Quantic Dreams are working on new PS4 games and Level 5 are announcing a new PS4 game at E3.

It's timed. MS isn't going to come out and say it in an official PR statement since they want people to buy an Xbox One to get the game.

The Xbox version is being published by MS. The other versions will be published by another company no doubt.

I do not need a collection. Just give me the MP of Gears 3(No Single player) with a Graphics boost and Azure and I am happy.

Make it digital only and release it at E3 :bow::bow: I wouldn't need another game for the rest of the year.

Yes MM probably won't release two games in a year. Horizon is the robotic dino-RPG yes and I agree with your caution. Sony don't usually announce games and release them within 6 month time frame. But Bloodborne was announced at E3 is coming this month, about a 9 month period of marketing. Sony have said they want a shorter lead time to games, it is not completely out of the realms they will have an exclusive announced at E3 and releasing this fall. The best bets are TLG or Horizon. Again I think you can put the Ratchet and Clank definitely in fall as one game and an Uncharted remastered collection too.

Nah the 360 had Gears etc and was much more popular the 1st two years.
PS3 didn't get popular till 08/MGS 4/price drops.

And PS3 didn't get the cheap $300 slim model until 2009.

For the first few years, it was basically your choice between a $500 or $600 system until 2008 when they changed the products to $400 and $500 systems. Yet it still sold well.
