Gaming headset recommendations

My problem is the volume. It's SOOOOOO low!! even at max volume I'm barely hearing people, especially if I have the game sounds up even a little bit.

Well, it's always been like that when you're talking about using 2 AA batteries to power the controller, rumble, & headset. I'd give up the rumble in the controller (turn it off) to get two more notches to turn up the headset, totally agree.

There are walkthroughs to "mod" the dongle wire though online. All you have to do is solder in a 2.5mm jack then you can plug your old Turtle Beaches in.

Hello PlayStation Nation! The next system software update for PlayStation 4 (version 1.60) will be available for download beginning late tonight, bringing support for the PULSE and PULSE – Elite Edition wireless stereo headsets to PS4. We know you’ve been patiently waiting for this update, which means PS4 owners will now be able to enjoy an enhanced gaming experience with 7.1 virtual surround sound and crystal clear voice chat with our official PlayStation headsets. PlayStation headsets are created for PlayStation gamers, by gamers – and designed to truly provide the audio that game developers intended. It’s truly how games were meant to sound.

I’m also excited to introduce the newest member of our headset lineup – the Gold Wireless Headset, which launches early this month. This new headset offers 7.1 virtual surround sound, custom audio modes created by developers specifically for PlayStation games, a hidden noise cancelling microphone for voice chat while playing online, customizable faceplates, and other features –all for $99.99 (MSRP).

You can connect the Gold headset to your PS4, PS3 or computer using the wireless adaptor for eight hours of straight gameplay. The headset also is compatible with your PS Vita or other mobile device with the included 3.5mm audio cable. The portable, folding design and travel pouch make it perfect for playing games or listening to music at home or on the go.

The Gold Wireless Headset and the PULSE – Elite Edition are compatible with the free Headset Companion App, which hits PlayStation Store in February. The app allows you to download developer-created game modes that are specifically tuned to enhance a game’s audio. Kicking off the custom sound modes will be Sucker Punch, who’s developing a mode for their highly anticipated PS4 exclusive inFAMOUS Second Son. In addition to these custom game modes, the app also offers a variety of preset audio modes for games, music and movies, as well as a tool to create your own custom EQ mode.

For additional information on PS4 system update v.1.60, including how to update your system, please click here when the update goes live. Hope you enjoy the new features and keep the feedback coming. Greatness Awaits!

I need this for Battlefield 4. Nothing sucks more than hearing a helicopter and STRUGGLING to find its location lol.

Can someone give the pro's and con's on wired vs. wireless?

Wired - no recharging, lower cost, better sound?
Wireless - convenience

Anything I missed?

Hmm, may get myself one. Does anybody know if they are compatible with the Xbox 360 and Xbox One (once the adapter gets released)?

I really want to get a nice surround sound gaming headset, but don't want to have to purchase multiple ones.

Hmmm, beware anyone that claims wireless offers better sound in general. Completely dependent on the protocol. Just as beware anyone that says wired is instantly better sound.

Overall they all sound decent. I much prefer my surround sound setup, I hear more and get better spacing. I understand these are fixes for those that don't have dedicated rooms and cant blare. Off top, the only reason I'd choose wireless is the cord and convenience.

I am not a fan of "X" number of feet of cord running through my living room. I have found the sound from Wireless and Wired to be comparable.

Wired: No recharging, lower cost
Wireless: More expensive, requires charging, but more convenient, less cumbersome, and sounds just as good.

Will the official PS3 Headsets work? I'm not talking about the fancy pulse ones I'm talking about the plastic ones. I'm guessing they were the first official 7.1 virtual surround sound headsets.

Either way I must say them new ones look amazing. I think i will pick one up.

Depends on the Heaphones, really. The one i currently own (UE9000) is very comparable when wired vs wireless. But i prefer to use wired because it gives louder volumes.

I'd like to know this as well.

I believe those are the original pulse headsets so yes they should work.

Yeah the original wireless 7.1 surround sound headsets are supported

I was prompted for the update yesterday when I logged on. No issues with download and install.

Is there a good wireless gaming headset for the Xbox One? What are you guys using? I currently have the Turtle Beach X11's with the surround sound processor. I hardly use it because all the wires are a pain and the chat doesnt work unless I buy the $30 adapter that just came out. I am thinking about putting them on Craigslist and getting wireless ones. Are there even any available? I just looked quickly at Gamestops site and saw a couple but couldnt tell if they were wireless. Ill do more research and see what I find but was looking for some feedback from you guys and what my best bet is for wireless and not crazy expensive

XO Seven is the new wireless turtle beach headset.

Fantastic, I just saw those and it didnt say they were wireless but I figured for that price they are. $150 or less is what I want to spend so I might grab these this weekend. Any feedback or did they just come out?

essentially - all of the "new" headsets coming out for the X1 are basically stereo headsets with the stereo adapter for the controller included (instead of purchasing the adapter). They are "wireless" in the sense that you have a cord from the headset to the controller and that's all. You could just purchase the adapter and choose which headset overall you prefer.

I've just gotten the Polk 4Shots - but the TB's (XO4,XO7) are essentially the same.

If you want a "true" wireless headset (gaming) - then there are a few options out there - and you basically have to set them up to access the HDMI/Optical port(s) on the X1.

I've been also interested in the SteelSeries Wireless H set - but they're quite a bit pricey....

Not on the wireless ones. I'm getting the wired ones next week sometime. I'll post impressions then

Why not just get a wireless headset for the 360 and then get the adapter for talk. Just make sure it has an optical input and you'll be good to go. I'm assuming that you should be able to get some good deals on older 360 headsets.
