Gaming headset recommendations

just use the included headset
that's what I used with the Xbox 360.. it worked just fine
[unless you have a brother that complains he cannot hear you and buys you a new one..lol]

and remember the Kinect was suppose to, initially, be your voice and sound
it would over your tv speakers.. not an idea I liked

I said it in the hardware info thread too, if your headset has optical it should work fine. I have a Astro A40 and Turtle Beach X12, both are optical and they just plug into the back of the console. You hear your friend's voice through the headphones and the Kinect hears your voice and so do your friends. Should work fine. I guess only for the headsets that dont have optical it's s***ty news.

Who makes the best headsets? Ill use the included one initially, but I wouldnt mind getting a nicer pair for late night gaming.
I had a great experience with Turtlebeach this past gen. Got one for about $100, and have had it for close to 2 years now without any problems. I wear it whenever I play games now. The sound is top-notch.

Will my Turtle Beach X11's with the Ear Force DSS 7.1 surround sound processor work with the Xbox One? I believe I have it plugged in with an optical cord? I get the mic might not right away but I am hoping the sound will work at least and it will hook up the same way it is with my 360? Does the Xbox One of a optical input? I could be wrong but I am pretty sure that is how mine is hooked up but ill double check when I get home tonight.

I wish I could just use my usb headset. Consoles are forever trying to nickel and dime you, at least Sony isn't so bad with it.

I assume if you are hooked up to a reciever you could just plug your headphones into the headphone jack and still use kinect for voice.. right?

A software update could probably make that possible. In the meantime, a headset is included with the console, and third party Xbox One specific headsets will be console ready, and the adapter dongle won't be that much. If it really bothers you, though, you can always buy a PS4 instead.

If it's optical it should work man. I mean my 360 Arcade didn't have a optical output, so i had to buy a special AV adapter that had a optical output on it and with that my TB and Astro's work fine. I dont have Kinect but people who do have it have told me that the Kinect can function as a mic too, so this should be the same for Xbox One....i assume.

Hmmmm..but the receiver does need to be hooked up to the tv or console i think? Not sure about that man.

I have Turtlebeach Earforce X11. It hooks into the 360 via USB and then 2 component cables (red and white) go into my TV. I'm assuming this is a no go then?

I have the turtle beach x12 headset, is it worth it to upgrade, or should I get a new one? Either way I have to wait for the adapters to become available.

Also, will the x07s or the x04s have surround sound?

I have the X12 too, but never uset them after i bought the Astro's. Anyway....you can buy a Ear Force DSS surround decoder and that way it will be optical.

I'm getting the polks they are cobrandednfor Xbox one so im assuming theyll work.

They'll work for sure but they are not coming out until Q1 of 2014.

So, I've had Sennheiser 280HD and Denon AD-2000 and several other brands. They all wore down over time, and what I am left with is my original Siberia headphones I bought in 2007. They are still functioning as good as new - Even the foam cups which is amazing considering how rough I have been with them.

They are so insanely durable. The sound they delivered was always okay. It was good in gaming, but in music and movies it was just decent/fine. I felt my Sennheisers did it better(obviously).

But the fact that they lasted so long, just made me think about these new ones. I've been told to avoid Turtlebeach, Astros and Razers as well as many other gaming headphones. The thing is though - I would like to have a pair of headphones I can use for everything.

I know that the optimal way of doing it, is having a good pair of music headphones and then a detachable mic next to it. However I think it would make more sense if I could get a pair of headphone with a attached mic that can be hidden(like these).
At the same time, what annoys me about my old Siberia's is that they are insanely leaky. I don't want other people to know I am listening to One Direction on the train.

Anyone got any recommendations? thoughts? Anybody have have tried these?

As far as I know, these don't work with PS4/Xbox One. Also, I've been told that the Sony MDR-V600, and MDR-7506 are amazing studio headphones for a cheap price. They don't have a mic and they might not look as fancy as these.
I'm a bit at a loss here. Audio peripherals are a jungle.

Is it just mine? Do I have a defective headset/controller port? Is there a certain 'trick' to do it?

I have been trying to plug in my headset to play some Forza for the last few minutes, how? I don't want to force anything as it's all still pretty new and shiney.

I managed to get the headset plugged in yesterday after quite some time but today, I just can't do it. What the hell am I doing wrong???

I have no idea. I haven't had any trouble at all plugging in my headset.

We'll I've managed to get it in again. Found I had to grip the controller really tight and then push the headset upwards as I connected it. I don't know, maybe I'm over thinking it, just seems really awkward.

taking it out is even worse. i'm putting the over/under at 10 days before one of my kids tries to pull it out by the wire and breaks it

Yeah its not that smooth but I wouldn't say it's difficult. Taking it out however was actually hard.

Agreed. Wish they would have stuck with a standard connector. The headset itself is very cheap and tight with no adjustments, I wish I could plug in my own. They could have at least made the headset unplug from the connector so you could use your own.

Ill never get MS obsession with shoving thier wares down our throat.
With my PS4 having a simple 3.5mm jack I can use a million headsets, and for $7 I bought an adapter to use my Turtle Beaches..so much better then either consoles pack in headsets.

Getting it plugged in is no problem. Unplugging it is a different story. I swear I'm going to break it ever time I go to un-plug it :(

Definitely think I'm going to break it soon trying to get it out. Hard to get any purchase on it pulling it.

LOL I find the same problems, pain to put in and take out, hoping as it wears in it'll improve.
