Gears of War on Xbox One up to Epic

I just got my code last night. Played for about an hour. It felt weird. Not used to seeing the game at 60fps and the graphics looking so clean and natural. Strange sensation at first to be sure.

They should remove hammer of dawn from courtyard. Its all open sky. Almost no cover. Stupid and uneven.

Ive played some hours. Rank 21 now. Experienced som tearing, but very few times.

other then that and some lag from time to time, this is an awsome game!

Maybe it's just me but I prefer the original's colour palette, atmosphere and lighting.

What's crazy is just how amazing Gears looked on the 360. I still think it's gorgeous. It's cool to see the little tweaks they made such as the water effects when the bullets hit it.

I still have not seen any tearing. I played a lot this weekend and played on Saturday in the afternoon to get the Thrash Ball Cole skin. :D

I haven't seen any tearing here still either after the weekend.

Did you notice how fast it plays, and zero lag?

Absolutely, it was an 'oh s***!' moment in 2006.

I think the remake looks too bright, clean and sterile. The original had a gritty and grimy feel, everything looked distressed and as CliffyB coined, 'Destroyed beauty.'

This is something I'm really not a fan of...

When doing a remake/re-release, don't change what gave the title heart... double-down on the original artistic direction, and remain as faithful to it as you can (or if anything, go deeper with it, given the new tech)... but don't change the look.

I get it. Gears was ragged on for its monochromatic color palette, but that was also something which made it stand out at the time. In a sea of average looking games by comparison, Gears stood head and shoulders above the competition in visual and technical prowess.

Don't change that, guys. Don't make it look 'cleaner', make it look 'grittier'. Don't take a shimmer off a car, make it a richer shimmer. Don't make blue waves out of what was a fairly still body of water.

Not a fan. It may be technically superior, but I prefer the original's style. I actually felt the same way about Halo Anniversary. I think they made too many changes to the art style (rather than just making it technically superior), and I think that hurt it.

Too bad. I'll still enjoy it, and I don't dislike all of the artistic changes, but I do (over-all) prefer the original.

such a good gaaaaaaame. i for sure prefer bullets from barrel though, i wish they would have used that

cant wait for August 25

The original looks better in a couple shots...

Yeah it's a mixed bag regarding the art changes. The 360 version looks to have more texture detail on certain surfaces.

It's nice to finally get rid of the depth of field mess though. The clarity is nice.

The problem with the Youtube vids is that you can't see just how much MORE detail there is in the remaster. It's much smaller detail and they are designed with that in mind, so it doesn't show up in the youtube vids like the big detail orientation of the 360 version.. The textures are an order of magnitude better, imo.

Indeed. After playing both (no youtube), it is clear without a doubt the new beta just blows away the original in lighting, textures, res, fps. And the lack of lag and fast server connections make this a must have for die hard gears fans.

Why did they take the background out completely? The rolling waves look weird too.

Oh well. It looks great overall.

Yeah odd decision to remove that other island part in the background, agreed on the water too. Do we know how the rest looks of the maps and campaign?
