James Gordon's show on Fox is still some time away, but Kevin Reilly, the Fox Entertainment Chaiman, has released some very interesting bits of info during a press tour. We know the show will revolve around James Gordon's life before Bruce Wayne becomes Batman, but Reilly said the show will not include "a bunch of characters you've never heard of." Instead, he says we'll see "all the characters you know, Bruce Wayne, the Penguin, all of them. It's Gotham teetering on the edge, and we see what makes these characters become who they are, [like] Catwoman. It's an operatic soap that has a slightly larger-than-life quality to it."

Reilly also teased we'll see Wayne put on the cowl at "the end of the series." Gotham will "staff up" in February and go "into script right after that." The Mentalist's Bruno Heller will serve as the executive producer.

All I can say is go for it! If it's anything like Arrow, then I'm in love already!

Southland star Ben McKenzie has been cast in the lead role of Detective James Gordon in FOX and Warner Bros. Television’s Gotham, which has a series commitment at the network, Warner announced today.

Gotham is a drama exploring the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains that made Gotham famous. Reports have indicated that the first season will include a young Bruce Wayne, as Gordon looks into the murder of his parents, as well as Oswald Cobblepot, the criminal who would later be The Penguin.

DC needs to do something to break the cycle of Marvel does something, then DC does the same thing. Feels like every move DC makes is a reaction to something Marvel already did.

I was surprised when I heard that Jada will be in that show. Hope it's good! Looking forward to it.

Played by Sean Pertwee (Elementary's Lestrade), this version of Alfred is described as "a tough-as-nails ex-marine from East London who has loyally served the Waynes. Now, in the wake of their tragic deaths, he’s fiercely protective of the young Bruce Wayne."

News.

Personal, I think they could have find a bit "younger" version of Alfred?

Wow, very cool trailer. I'm hooked. Looking forward to it. Got a good feeling about this show. Has potential shades of X-Files and The Wire thrown into one.

Just saw the trailer for this, and I thought it looked good. I was rather Skeptical of it not being focused on Batman, but the story of the city and how it came to be seems pretty interesting.

I feel like this show could go either way. On one hand, stuff like this does have a tendency to succeed on Fox. They just seem to adore detective shows over there. Plus it has one of the hottest brands going these days. Should be interesting to see, even if it means that many of the villains will be old by the time Bruce Wayne is old enough to become Batman.

Did anybody catch the show? I did, first time I voluntarily watched Fox outside the weekend in many, many years. Thought it was very cool and I'm looking forward to the rest. Interesting that the first real villain they go with is Penguin. Did anybody feel like the way he ate that sandwich at the end was a little reference to Danny DeVito's portrayl in Batman Returns? It felt similar the way he tore into that thing. Guy is a good actor too. I wonder when they'll get into his Cobblepot family history. He's likely the man to have the Wayne's murdered.

Yea the way Penguin ate the sandwich and just moved in general in that scene reminded me of DeVito's portryal.

It was a pretty good episode, nothing special but not bad either. They cameoed a lot of future villains in the pilot so it'll be interesting if they will actually have a role in the first season or if they'll only feature every now and then. They also got the look of Gotham pretty damn well. Unlike the Nolan films this looks like the Gotham from the comics and cartoons, that said I was confused about when the show was set. It looked 70-80's but they have phones and stuff so I still have no idea.

Yeah, I'm confused on the specific period of time they're in as well. Nothing is too specific yet they have bits and pieces that would be exclusive to certain eras.

based on the cars I'm guessing late 80s, but the one guy made a reference to "maybe his battery ran out" talking about Gordon's phone. So i donno. Liked the show.

I was looking forward to this, but I came away disappointed. There were too many future character cameos and too little interesting story. I'll give it a few episodes to improve, but not feeling it based on the pilot episode.

Got around to watching the last episode. Very cool to watch. It almost reminds me of Sam & Twitch (from Spawn) in some ways. Specifically in the relationship between Bullock and Gordon.
