Halo 5

The game looks crazy fun; I'm looking forward to the beta. I don't expect to be particularly good at it (I'm getting wrecked online in MCC), but it should be fun none the less.

Looks good, not sure how I feel about the level of speed in Halo, but it seems like that's here to stay so oh well, even if the game seems faster than ever without sprinting. Then there's the ADS. I just don't see the point of it, if what he's saying is true, it barely has any advantage to it. If anything, CoD players are likely to get a little owned from the looks of it because it sports no real advantage. Armor abilites sound very cool though and the elimination mode they have in that second vid looks awesome. Overall, it seems like a fine game. It certainly seems more fun to play than Halo 3 & 4 in my book.

I think the point is to shut people up who've wanted it for a long time, lol. Some people just like it, and I'm happy they look to have found a workable compromise. If it proves a disadvantage, then it will at least break people into the game. I love that you have all of the moves, and you don't have to pick one.

I guess. Some of the abilities seem pointless in all honesty. It just makes it needlessly complicated in many ways. We'll have to see, if I hate it, then I at least have the first two halo MPs to look forward to on the xbox one. Fingers crossed for another collection with Reach and ODST.

Halo-5-Guardians-Multiplayer-Beta-Truth-Establishing-Charting-A-Course.0.0.jpg

The impending multiplayer beta for Halo 5: Guardians may be a 10.27 GB download on Xbox One, according to a photograph posted on Imgur this week.

The off-screen image below appears the show the beta's listing in the Xbox One marketplace and its size. Developer 343 Industries' three-week Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta will begin Dec. 29, despite the image's release date listing of either Dec. 4, 2014 or April 4, 2014 (depending on whether one assumes the month or the date comes first).

We've contacted Microsoft for comment and will update this article with more information as we receive it.

If the image is verified, it wouldn't be the first time a screenshot leaked from unreleased or unannounced products on the console. Just this...

I wonder, down the road if people will sit back and wait on buying Halo 5 to make sure the same matchmaking issues that plague the MCC aren't there for Halo 5 as well.

IT will depend on the Beta.

I really feel that due to the nature of the Halo MCC(4/5 games in one playlist thing...) that is the compounding issue. Each of those games had different net code, different p2p rules. A lot of variables that can be hard to pin down when it is not jiving together the way they envisioned.

I really think that's the heart of the problem too. Though, I would think that the sh!t storm that would produce would come after the matchmaking process, searching for players, lobbying up and so forth, as the map/gametype and such is decided after that...

This, This, This.

I have a feeling Halo 5 beta will have a much more solid experience.

On a side note- I've been watching some Beta footage, and have noticed that it must be using some kind of Forward+ rendering. I say this because, like Forza Horizon 2, every single little light seems to have an effect on the player/scene, even if it doesn't cast a shadow. even the little ones lining the floor. It's subtle, but very nice.

I'm not crazy about Halo....but I ain't gonna........that looks pretty damn good.

One thing I'd like a revert back to was how quickly after the lobby the match would start. Halo 1, 2, and 3 all, after the countdown and a brief black screen, go straight to the game. Reach, 4, and 2A have this countdown with a description. That's okay sometimes, maybe a new players first time playing oddball, but I prefer to just get straight to it. Now there's so much pre-game stuff with the description, map views, team view, bluh

It's a minor thing, at least it doesn't really impact the game itself.

I think all that crap in there now is hide the game loading...

Looks awful. Halo 1 and 2 pureist will hate it.

Cool, then they can continue to play those games via MCC, and the franchise can try new things. I for one think it looks great, and love that the characters actually feel like the super soldiers they are.

Cool, good for you.

Forget the pureists, they are just cry babies anyway. Looks awesome.

I think it looks ok & might be fun in it's own right. I just wonder if the level design is sort-of dumbed down with all this "arena" type, fast-paced shooting becoming popular. What I really miss in games is great level designs with a unique look to each level designed around weapon placement & "flow" to the gameplay. Most shooters today have no flow to the maps, it's just everybody everywhere for the ADHD crowd that needs constant action. One of my favorite games of all-time was Halo 2 because the maps were so good. Headlong, Terminal, Zanzibar, etc. all had smart layouts with gameplay designed around the flow of fighting over the power weapons. I feel like a lot of the games today just start copying each other then they are very similar over all. There's hardly anything to distinguish themselves as their own brand anymore. I still don't see why Halo can't focus on being Halo & what made it popular in the first place with updates to keep with the time obviously as well.
