Headsets for Xbox

You might want more bass if that what is you are going for. The official PS headset achieves its positional audio by turning the bass down. So that seems like the trade off. Better sounds or better positional audio.

Just get one of these...

But I’ll probably wait for an elite version, hopefully it’ll come with a 3.5 mm balanced cable and so I can amp it

Most is a wash.

XB+
Price
Racing and Story games.

Kaira Pro+
Mic
FPS and Open world games.

As he puts it for his current gaming on XSX the XBHS is his choice.

Not sure why he failed to mention the lack of a 3.5 jack.

My official headset arrived late, so I've only had a short while to try it out. I've only used the Dolby Atmos app, and will agree that the positional directions aren't as good as Sony's 3D Pulse headset as of the moment. No noticeable differences in height awareness in Gears 5 (an actual Atmos supported game) that I've noticed. Hopefully updates can improve that.

That said, the sound quality itself IS quite good for the price, very easy to pickout directional sounds, dialogue, music, and ambient sounds. I LOVE how easy it is to use with only a power and mute button. The Sony Pulse 3D headset is a mess to try to find the correct button you're looking for in the midst of gaming, this is sooooooooo much more intuitive.

I need to try out more of the sound options (Windows Sonic, etc) and more games.

I forgot to mention that while I've heard others say the official headset is "bass heavy", I haven't found that to be the case at all so far. I'm playing on standard "game" mode (completely flat EQ) with bass boost completely off. Definitely not bass heavy at all in this setup, and that's something I was extremely concerned with. Haven't tried any other modes to compare.

I haven't been able to find the MSFT Wireless headphones so I purchased the Turtle Beach 700 Gen 2. I had read reviews and there were some complaints about setting it up and getting it to play nice with the Xbox. I downloaded the firmware update as well as the companion app on my phone and everything works. I've only been playing with them for a few hours but so far the sound quality is really good, the headphones are comfortable and additional features include the option to use the phone app for custom EQ settings and answer calls via bluetooth.

IDK if this has been posted about already, but for the Official XBox Wireless Headset, it sounds like you're in a bathroom or something while you're talking on it in an Xbox Party. Supposedly a fix coming, but what a misstep lol

I’m reading mixed impressions for the headset, especially the sound quality. Fine by me though as I’ve already got a pair of wireless so not sure what I would do with a second
Not surprising. People are unlikely to all like the sound profiles of anything universally.

I get a little bit of static from time to time with the Turtle Beach 700 Gen 2. I also find that the audio quality is a bit better with the Sony Pulse Headset which is $50 cheaper.

Did they make mention if they’re compatible with the Xbox one/s/x?

I’d assume so since said proprietary wifi tech is what runs their controllers....right?

hmmm, would you get better wireless quality if you use the Xbox pc controller dongle with it?
