Why are DF(and others) acting so surprised that the least powerful console takes a graphical hit?

Series S owners expect this and don't give a crap. They are still able to play and enjoy the games.

You don't see low end PC or steam deck getting moaned about this much.

It's more of a hit than people were led to believe the console would have to take, obviously with time we've seen that 1440p Series X equivalent stuff was BS.

Because it is the 'in' thing to do.

Funnything is the Series S does all the main things the others do, Nanite, RT lumen, 60fps at half the res like advertised but it actually performs better too. lol.

Dried’s crusade against the Series S is so strange.

Yup MS actually privatized the YouTube videos promoting the initial claim of "does everything the X does bar resolution". Wonder why 🧐

They even note the X targets native 4k and 60 fps and we know that's not going to happen especially when current gen only just started this year and we are already at 720p for both the premium consoles.

Why aren't you keeping the same energy with PS5, though? Was touted as a 4K machine yet very few games hit that. You have multiple 720P games that are exclusive to PS5. Lol.

See, this dumb one sided narrative you spew out is how we know you're just a stupid little fanboy. Jinca too.

Despite the resolution it’s a fun game. I’m about 10 hours in and I think halfway through the story and having a good time

I did, I said it's going to be a long gen if we keep up the 720p for both premium consoles and that the Pro can't come soon enough if we are already struggling with UE5. It's like we are back to the PS3/360 era with these resolutions.

With PC, at least the devs can keep upping the minimum specs and keep up that way. Notice the minimum specs for this game on PC is a 2080 which is basically the PS5/XSX? For consoles and multiplatform / Xbox console exclusive games, the XSS is here for the rest of the gen and the devs need to be able to scale down to it hence why many believe it will be the "bottleneck" and "hold back" games. We already see it happening with delays in games because of it and taking a longer development time to optimize for it. But your green goggles keep you from seeing this of course.

The fact you think that is the same is hilarious.

The GPU requirement I think you'll find is because of the RT. Series S can do RT. Older GPUs that are usually min requirement don't support RT.

From the gameplay I've watched after release it looks pretty fun. Maybe worth it once it gets updated for mid gen refresh or even next gen.

Also the fact PC needs bit more overhead due to less optimization than consoles in general.

Also AMD CUs aren't as good as NVIDIA's solution in nature so that's another disadvantage right there.

We also know UE5 is very resource heavy as shown by Matrix demos and now games like Immortals.

I'm playing on pc. The only things that are annoying is sometimes my gun/magic won't reload and I have to switch weapons to fix it. The second thing is there's these little colored lights that float around and u can shoot them to get xp, but sometimes their flight patterns aren't consistent and they're very hard to see sometimes.

I'm past ch10 and I'm really enjoying the story. Every main character get to express themselves very well. The main bad guy is very cool.

Based on the timing, I'd imagine that the game didn't start on Unreal Engine 5 as it didn't exist - so did it start on Unreal Engine 4, and did it migrate to UE5? What was that like?
Mark Maratea: The project started using UE 4.20, which came out in July, and the company was formed in August [2018]. When the company first started, everything was done in blueprints with no engine code changes, as if it was a smaller indie project to prototype it out... This could have changed; the reality of the business decisions around this is that if someone stepped up as a publisher three months in and said, "you're coming, but you're using Frostbite or whatever", that would have [required] a pivot. We are lucky enough to have a very generous funding source... an amazing partner, so that's given us the autonomy to make these decisions. We started out with vanilla 4.20, vanilla 4.21, 4.23 custom engine, 4.25, 4.26, UE5 preview, UE5 actual, UE5.1, and now we are shipping as UE 5.1.1.

How does Nanite and virtual shadow maps translate to console like PS5 and Series X/S?

Julia Lichtblau: On the art side, we haven't really had to adjust anything, but perhaps Mark has been doing stuff on the back end to make that work so us artists don't have to worry as much!

Mark Maratea: I would say in some ways it works better on consoles, weirdly enough. Nanite virtualised geometry is very stream-heavy, it is all about disk I/O. So UE5 is rewriting the I/O pipeline and the optimisations they made for NVMe SSDs. It's designed to work on consoles.

So what’s the general feel for this so far? It’s already on sale and I’ve seen nothing that makes me interested in it.

I played on pc. Game was fun and had interesting world . The game gives you the choice to decide to explore and discover lore and solve extra puzzles, or just straight into the action.

It's half price as well but the footage just made it look really dull. Shame cause the trailers before all that looked really good.

Yeah not even remotely tempted despite had price. It will be Gamepass before I’ll try it

Their issue wasn't the packed 2023 line up or anything external. Their issue is simply making a game that didn't look compelling or fun. End of.

I asked Robbins if Immortals of Aveum would be coming to subscription services like Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus, and if launching on one or both of those services would've helped Immortals of Aveum at launch.

"Certainly, those services give you a wider funnel," he says. "More people might engage with the game, that's always good."

He adds that, "Yes, we are talking to them about getting the game onto both of those services. We don't have a date yet, I'm pretty sure it's gonna happen, though."

But but but... people not in the gaming business tell us that's wrong.
