First off im not Catholic. So I don't indulge in Sundays.
Still haven't been hired yet.
This year I gave up my smartphone, but I was going to still use phone for calls texts.
Then was at work once I made that decision about 4 days into it.My phone just completely bricked. Nothing could be done to fix it. Don't get me wrong that thing had a lot off damage.
Me I think it was god saying nope, your not using it at all now.

I was raised Catholic but drifted away at 13, now consider myself one of those "spiritual but not religious" people, perhaps non-denominational Christian if you define that broadly. I like the practice of Lent but didn't participate this year. I just wasn't in the right frame of mind, I guess. It's been a good practice in the past for me, though. The idea, for those who don't know, is that you give something up for 40 days in order to be more spiritual; in other words, you give something up that is getting in the way of you being more spiritual.

I took the liberty of editing your thread title, since you'd spelled it "Lint." ;)

Maybe you should.
Not that becouse I observed it these things happened but in the last 40days. I got a brand new phone. Moved into a lot better part of town. Outskirts of my citys "ghetto" the place is twice as big. I have a fenced in yard so my kids can play outside, I have a HUGE garage that was converted into a storage shed, man u even got a room outside where the cat can sit while u smoke. All for only $50 more a month.
Right now I'm sitting at French lick indoor waterpark spending the weekend. All because my seen some add in the paper that cut the well over half.
All this in the last 40 days. Read my post history if you want I was going through some really tough crap.

That's cool, David, glad to hear it. I had noticed you were missing and was a little concerned about it, since you seemed to be going through such sh*t before you disappeared from the forum. I'm glad things are looking up for you.

Thanks.

I gave up giving stuff up. Walked by a homeless person and almost gave him some change in my pocket, but then I remembered my promise. Sorry bro, not until Easter rolls on by.

Yeah something about seeing pastors in expensive clothes, houses, and cars puts church off to me.
Read the bible believe in Jesus, and give $ to people with signs, and always tell them I don't care how they spend it.
Religion has changed so much in the last 100 years its crazy.

Sounds like coincidences to me.If you hadn't given up whatever you gave up for lent, those things would still have happened no?

You mean like how the super wealthy Vatican has people kiss the popes rings?
I hear ya Its sad really.

That's a sign of respect, nothing more.

Of course there's more to it. It's a stupid tradition. People kiss the ring not just as a sign of respect, but as a sign of respect to who they view as a leader of the church AND a man that is granted authority by god. it's an insane belief catholics have the popes, bishops, priest, etc....are somehow given power by god.

It's as stupid as the many other r******d ideologies they have....like, believing that a priest has the power to make bread and wine become the actual blood and body of jesus. Yes, they believe that. it's more than symbolic, they actually believe that it becomes that. So much so, that they sit there like idiots during special times like lent praying to freaking bread and adoring it.....they call it adoration. It's mind boggling some of the things people believe.

If people want to worship some dude who was technically a zombie, then that's up them. It's not for me but I do contemplate on it from time to time.

So, your saying Jesus was a Zombie?

No. The bible is saying Jesus was a zombie. The dude was killed, and rose from the dead three days later. And let's not forgot that he told people to eat his flesh and drink his blood as well. We're taking about a proper lunatic here.
