Official Thread Making a Murderer **SPOILERS INSIDE**

Things are starting to happen in the process of freeing Steven Avery & Brendan Dassey. Averys new lawyer has until May 31 to file a brief of the new evidence she has uncovered. The prosecution then has 30 days to respond. Once the response is filed, Averys lawyer has 15 days to reply. After all of this the appellate court will likely set a date for a hearing which could take awhile. If Im correct at this hearing Avery could be set free. Averys lawyer claims to have enough evidence to vacate both Avery and Dasseys sentence.

Nice to see some more motion on the case. I was glad to see the bump.

Ive been check reddit occasionally for updates. Ive seen some interesting evidence around Ms. Halbachs ex-boyfriend Ryan Hillegas. There are still photos from taken the documentary(during the search I think) that show injuries to his hand. It is also possible that he had shaved his head prior to the murder.

Some of you might find this interesting-

That's awesome. So much time lost for that poor kid, they better compensate him well.

Happy to see this news. Hopefully he will be required to take therapy for awhile to get his head right after all he has been through. His environment for the past 10yrs hasn't been a positive one.

So, I finally finished up the show yesterday. Wow!

Going over the missing evidence in the link in the op post...

9. Doesn't matter.
8. Doesn't matter
7 . Really!! Doesn't matter.
6. Doesn't matter...and if Halback was genuinely avoiding him then why did she go to Avery Salvage yard?
5. Doesn't matter.
4. NO DNA. Shocking!!
3. So the key found under suspicious circumstances has the same DNA as the hood latch.
2. So Dassey lying to his mother about the rape & murder and then saying he was molested..which also must be considered a lie.
1. Doesn't matter.

IMO none of the left out evidence listed is a game changer or all that important. Most of it seems to be more about Steven's character than anything.

The main issues surrounding this conviction can be summed up quickly.

1. All the physical evidence has a lot of doubt over it due due to certain factors.
  • KEY - Found by Manitwoc officers conducting a search much much later than the first search and this key suddenly appears with only Steven's DNA on it....no Halbach DNA
  • RAV 4 BLOOD - Only 1 test by the FBI using a rushed procedure that they said would take several months but got done in weeks.
  • BURN PIT/BONES - Seriously, this is the one that gets me. You have all them bones behind his house, but then you have some in a burn barrel, and then you have some at a quarry a long distance away from the Avery property.
Now. I am not saying Steven is innocent, but but based on all the evidence provided by the prosecution and the manner in which the evidence was found, it surely must leave everybody with a certain degree of doubt over his guilt.

The Brendan Dassey conviction seems to be even worse. No physical evidence at all and his coerced story of the horrific act doesn't fit with the evidence found. That is before we even start with the coerced confession.

Brendan wasn't just a little slow either. His IQ must be lower than many milder Down syndrome cases. Not joking, he didn't seem to be able to function in society.

SA lawyer K.Zellner tweeted this last night about the choice the WI Attorney has made regarding the release of B.Dassey. The tweet was deleted about 20mins later.

So does that mean he is free or not?

Don't they have 90 days to decide to re-try Brandon or just let it go?
