Mario Kart 8: Gentlemen and Lovely Ladies, Please start your hype... I mean Engines!

Looking forward to this more than any other game. Something I can play with friends, the girlfriend, my nephews. It looks so good too, wow!
 
Game looks awesome. Visually and interactively. Could be the best MK game since Double Dash if things go according to plan. We all know Miyamoto loves it when a good plan comes together.
 
wonder if we will have the option to host games ? Get the UVGF guys/gals slinging some shells

Im really excited about this game. Which is odd, because I havent been excited about any of the Mario Kart games since the N64.
 
Yeah, I'm excited about it, and I don't even own a Wii U. It just looks like a lot of fun.

I saw this (from 2/27):

"Nintendo announced overnight that as of May 20, the company will end online functionality for a host of Wii, DS, and DSi games--including high-profile titles like Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Of course, you can still play the games in their offline mode, but you won't--come May 20--be able to play online or access leaderboards."

I assume that's to open up space for Wii U titles such as Mario Kart 8?
 
I think Smash is the Wii U's big game, but I think Mario Kart will start generating significant increases in sales both hardware and software wise.
 
When this game and SSB launch, we so need to make a cup for UnionVGF Wii U owners :).

Why not now with Wonderful 101, do yourself a favour and laugh your arse off for the next couple of weeks. In hard but fair gameplay. Sometimes frustrating but always fun, after all if 3 eyed, pink Space Elves approve of it... it must be good :).
 
Lol, right now just too much other stuff to play. I bought a X1 at launch, a PS4 about a month ago, and my new PC came two weeks ago. Gotta balance! :p

Sell both and get the game that keeps on giving? I'm still so far away from having my full bottle cap collection and only about 17 heroes away from having the full 100. Darn you hiders, I will get all of you, just you watch. The Earth needs you as Diplomacy keeps failing!

The limited amount of item customization seen in Mario Kart 7 will be expanded in the upcoming Wii U sequel, Mario Kart 8, according to director Kosuke Yabuki.

"There was some item customization in Mario Kart 7, in that you could choose to have a mushroom-only race or shell-only race. We're going to have that plus a little bit more, actually, in Mario Kart 8," Yabuki said during a roundtable interview at GDC last month.

"I think we're going to be able to answer that feeling of, 'I don't want to race with items.' Well, OK, then no items. Or, 'I only want to have bananas.' Well, OK. I think we're going to be able to provide a system to answer that desire this time around."

Finally you can actually use your driving and turtle skills in Mario Kart. No more Nintendo luck. Best thing they have done to the series since the inception! I have complained about the lack of options the past 7 or so years with this game. Thank you Nintendo.
 
I can imagine an only Blue-Shell match. Should be fun.
 
That wouldn't be very fun for me, I mean. Just annoying in some ways, maybe ok for a change. But my competitive nature will overly enjoy shells and bananas quite a bit.

It wouldn't be something I'd want to do regularly, but definitely could produce some laughs when playing with a group of friends now and again.
 
I think green shells and bananas would be the perfect skill set for a competitive race. Having to shoot the greens shells with accurate precision as well as using the bananas to block and throw in front of your opponents would be my idel set-up. Along with mush-runs and an actual slot system that is based on what you choose, not nintendo choice.

Please Nintendo. Give us an updated F-Zero this generation as well.
