Merge the Games

I personally like the badges, but I'm not a huge poster in the gaming forums anyway so my opinion really doesn't matter all that much.

Or even have another column to the right of the title and to the left of Start Date.

that's probably a better idea. i just realised the little blue dots aren't always there anyway, which is good as the area around important text (thread titles in this case) should be as undisrupted as possible

Joon, they look much better as text only. Check it out. I wasn't a fan of the badges either.

they're less of an eyesore but now they're fairly redundant. here are some titles on first page:

PS4: Playstation 4 Discussion
Xbox One: The Xbox One Thread
Xbox One: Xbox One Hotchips revisited and XBox One Speculative discussion

the little blue dots aren't overly disruptive. maybe make them permanent (or have any such symbol similar in size) and just have the colour alter appropriately (blue, green etc)?

Nice, I like the setup now, Xbox, and other consoles. I thought it was a bit muddled with all platforms games in one category. Good work guys!

i thought this site was going to be more platform agnostic

I also had a hope of that we'd be a true multiplatform-community, with a focus on videogames, instead of a Xbox version of PSU. :-/
I would be more than happy to cut all ties with TXB-brand, why advertise for robot-land on the logo? :p
As it is now, I feel like it's just like back in TXB-days, not so interesting to join into, or start eventual UVG-communities/clans in PC-games and PS-games, when we're just a offshoot of a xbox-community.

Xbox section will be fine, thanks to most people came here from TXB-community, but I have my doubts we'll manage to build much of community for PS- and PC-gamers. :-/

I have to agree with the previous 2 posts. Didn't see a problem with how it was at the beginning of the day.

There was a lot of complaining when they combined everything into one game forum. A lot of people liked the way things were organized at TXB, and they wanted to keep it that way, rather than have a forum structure that lumped everything together in a format that reminded people of GAF. I can respect that. The separate console forums (and even Xbox-first listing) is part of TXB heritage. It's part of why a lot of people stuck with TXB for so long, and it's part of why a lot of people came over here, rather than went to any number of other platform-agnostic sites. We are the official TXB refugee site, after all.

I figure, we were off to a really great start as a community, and there was no sense in alienating a large part of that community by trying to change a forum structure which had no problems to begin with. Plus, with the shuttering of TXB and the move over here, I think it was just too much change all at once.

I liked it the way it was originally, but it's a lot better as is now than it was when they were all merged.

I'm all for platform agnostic, just think that each major platform (Xbox, PS, PC) should have a dedicated section for those people who want to just stick to one type of discussion.

What a joke that the xbox still gets it's own section while all the others have to share. I know this is the teamxbox refugee site, but come on. It's unionVGF, not UnionXbox.

Seems to me that the PS forum actually is in the better position, since that is where all discussion of all multiplatform games (i.e., 90% of games) are supposed to go. That's different from how it was at TXB, where most multiplatform discussion ended up in the GXD. If you look at the number of threads and posts in each, you'll see the PS/Other forum is actually larger than the Xbox Discussion forum -- big change from TXB.

I think if we keep a Xbone Discussion thread, PS4 discussion thread, PC discussion thread, and Tickle Fight thread pinned at the top, you'd have your respective threads easily visible. Everything else is pretty much game discussion, and if idiots want to go into a Ryse thread that have no intention of buying Xbone, well, I'll just have to take care of those people.

What this magnificent bastard said.

Well if Playstation threads make it so PC or Nintendo fans can't hold a discussion, we could spin off a Playstation subforum. I mean, it's not about the "importance" of Xbox or anything, it's just a practical move.

I'm just saying if that is the case you may as well merge all otl sub forums into just one.

I've given up on it though :). It's not my website, and I'm clearly a minority in the matter.

That neogaf has 1 gaming forum and that is why I never joined it, I hate going through all the different topics trying to find things about my console of choice. I don't want to read about any other console. I reckon it's good to have seperate forums so you can just go to that board only. Maybe I am the only person who thinks like this though.

You're not the only one. I like them being separate. It's not that I want the users to be separated, I just think it's makes everything more manageable.

After spending some time with it I really don't like the multi platform games thing. I really care to read about Xbox related news, discussions. I don't like having to go to OCD from Xbox in order to read about something I'm interested in.

Merge them. It'll probably be easier to navigate in the long run. Do what WCG does and have icons depicting which console is which. After a few years of reading it this way, it's hard to go back honestly.

not a fan of the "multiplat" forum. I think it should be divided by hardware. It stinks trying to find the latest BF4 X1 news, and having to scroll through all the PC/PS4 posts.

I agree. It seems incredibly biased that Xbox fans have to go to the PS forum just to discuss multiplat games. Why cant we discuss multiplats in both, or atleast have a separate forum for multiplats? We have plenty enough mods now, I don't see why we cant discuss multiplats in both.

When I was community manager at PSU.com, I made a policy about this exact thing.

Basically we allowed both forums to discuss the game, specific to their console. NO comparison to the other title on the other console. If you wanted to get into an e-peen pissing match, you were required to post in a VS thread.

It kept the discussion clean, and relevant to the title.

It's not a PS forum, it's a PS, Multiplat, Wii, PC, Mobile forum. But we're trying to figure out the best way for the community.

My thoughts on this would be to start by merging everything.

Then create a separate Forum for major specific games like Grand Theft Auto 5 that generate a lot of discussion. This might be more convenient for the Social Club to. Then within the GTA5 Forum people could use the PlayStation or XBox tags if they want to.
