Well yeah to be fair these guys never get this did right.

You guys talk like you know things, make assumptions based on 2nd hand tweets. You know the hardware being used for the upcoming generation and everything being sent over to other platforms.

I've skipped through so many posts because it's nauseating. Same on Twitter.

The only reason I want there to be an official word from MS is so you can all "HOPEFULLY" quiet down.

How much more can you spew?

If everyone knows so much on how to run a gaming company and roll out a console, they should be doing it. C'mon, why don't you experts get some funding and do it?

I can't wait until next week.

Who am I kidding? That won't even be enough. It'll be more bodies for the fire? (is that a saying?)

That's a tight ship you run there, Grimmy 😛

I think part of the fun has always been talk and speculation for next gen and this isn't really exclusive to this gen. Technology and advancements are exciting and being discussed on a gaming forum is quite the norm IMO

I'm in a mood today.

But go on with your speculation.

It's funny how so many are obsessed with what's always upcoming and fail to enjoy what you currently have. We're just now getting into the prime of these consoles, yet we cannot wait until the next ones. 🤷‍♂️

I enjoy technology, but everything seems to be on fast forward these days. Maybe it's the mood I'm in or my age. :) Both probably.

I'm also speculating for the PS6 by posting news and Rumours for that thread too so it's not "Xbox exclusive" 😉

I enjoy my games but I also like talking about them and the future. All part of the fun that's called gaming hobby.

I know all about the gaming hobby.

You do you. I'm not going to tell you what you can or cannot do, but at the same time...I can be annoyed. I'd be going in circles and multiple threads anyway.

It’s like the abk trip only condensed to a week instead

I believe it's going to be 2 consoles, the series s will be replaced with a small streaming box with a handheld device that runs gamepass or something like remote to an Xbox hi end console, it will be priced even cheaper, like $150.00, and there will be a Hi-end console like the series x to take its place.

That way it is only one system to develope for.

Reportedly the current Series team got replaced by the Surface team . Make of that what you will

My guess it’ll be priced just under whatever the new switch is. Like if S2 is 399, the new xp (Xbox pocket?) will be 299.

The surface team are known for their great form factor, putting so much into so little. Dono not graphic card sizes but they put 4060/70s in much smaller housing, maybe they’re using the laptop versions

But didn’t the surface team help with the series x?

Hopefully the only limitation is that it’ll be a 1080 screen, but could run higher frame rates like 120.

No less or slower memory of any kind. Same specs for both.

Maybe we’ll see a portable that’s the same price or higher than it’s home counterpart :(

Switching to the hardware side of this equation, you’ve mentioned that new console and controller options are coming this holiday. Are those the leaked refreshed models that we saw in the FTC documents?

I don’t know about any leaks. I don’t know what you’re talking about. [Laughs]

Well you said that they were old plans, so what’s happening there, is that what you’re teasing?

[Laughs] We’ll talk about things that are coming up. I will say I’m very proud of the work that the hardware team is doing, not only for this year, but also into the future. [We’re] really thinking about creating hardware that sells to gamers because of the unique aspects of the hardware. It’s kind of an unleashing of the creative capability of our hardware team that I’m really excited about.

Does that involve a handheld? You keep liking loads of tweets about handhelds.

I’m a big fan of handhelds. [Laughs] I’m a big fan, but nothing to announce.

When I look at Xbox and I say, ‘Okay as a platform, how do I know that we’re doing well?’ I look at how many players there are, I look at how many hours get played. It turns out that the number of hours played on a monthly basis across Xbox, across cloud, PC, and console is a pretty good metric for how we’re doing.

So, okay, what keeps people from playing certain hours? Well there’s some sleep, school, and kind of normal life, but some of it is just access. Do I have access to the games that I want to play right now? Obviously we’re kind of learning from what Nintendo has done over the years with Switch, they’ve been fantastic with that. So when I look at Steam Deck and the ROG and my Legion Go, I’m a big fan of that space.

We do have real work. One of the weak points in the experience on a ROG or the Lenovo [Legion Go] is Windows. How Windows works on controller input only on that kind of DPI, on a smaller eight- or seven-inch screen. That’s a real design point that our platform team is working with Windows to make sure that the experience is even better.

Could totally see a Xbox handheld announced to use the Xbox OS and achievements system. With Gamepass and a plethora of popular IPs under their belts, could be a hit depending on the price. Might even be cloud streaming based to remove the need to natively optimize for the hardware as the Steam deck basically does the same thing.

The steam deck is really just a a switch and PlayStation love child, old tech that’s good enough running an OS that’s based on Linux.

Hopefully the engineers make this equivalent to a one x or series x, or x equivalent of their next gen. But they’ll get around temps and such by only allowing it to run at 900p or 1080 for such a small screen, preferably oled, to allow for more space and thus better cooling and battery size.

They’d need to future proof it, to a slight extent….like usb c type 4 or 5. And allow use with their silly proprietary storage, but preferably nvme storage as well. Just make it easy to work or use external accessories.

Might be related to their next gen hardware ? This is a big deal.

Intel will be producing custom chips, designed by Microsoft for Microsoft, as part of a deal that Intel says is worth more than $15 billion. Intel announcedthe partnership during its Intel Foundry event today. Although neither company specified what the chips would be used for, Bloomberg noted today that Microsoft has been planning in-house designs for both processors and AI accelerators.

The chips will use Intel's 18A process, which has been a big part of its road map since the company brought CEO Pat Gelsinger back to turn things around. The company is counting on its chip foundry services to put it back on top of the chipmaking world, and it seems that Microsoft will be the first major customer for this project.

What else would they use them for? Unless it's for Surface?

Oh, so these are small chips for mobile devices? I am lost. I have no idea about computers, so call me clueless.

Not smaller per SE but definitely more heat efficient than regular x86 architecture. Usually used in consumer electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, wearables and other mobile devices. They're also used in a wide range of sensors and internet of things devices. Typically won't be as powerful so that's why I was saying this seems to be the handheld device processor MS will be using.
