Have the 1.04 patch notes been released ?

Not sure if this is the full patch notes but is all I have seen.

Patch 3

Patch 3 is targeted at our next most common support requests, fixing the next most common crashes, as well as trying to help players who have become stranded or have corrupted their save files.

Stranded in Space Station

If you died in your ship while in atmosphere of a planet with a damaged ship, you could respawn in a space station with your launch thrusters and pulse engine damaged. If you did not have the resources to fix them then you could no longer take off and be stuck there. This will no longer happen.

Loading Corrupted Save Files

Some players have corrupted save files, we’ve been working with them to still load saves even if they are corrupted (this can happen for many reasons outside of the games control). This fix has allowed many players to still load their save even if they have become corrupt on PC.
Crash fixes for next three most commonly reported issues
As the player gathers a huge amount of discoveries, there was a threading issue that becomes more prevalent the more discoveries you have, and could cause the game to crash.
If you had collected a large number of blueprints, in a specific order it was possible to crash the game when you received a new blueprint. This has been fixed.
Players who set a large number of waypoints could find themselves in a situation where they could crash the game in the Galactic Map, this is remedied now (PS. A better waypoint system is coming).

They need to speak out and tell people what the future of this game is. Free patches? Dlc? Nothing? You'd think that video game companies would understand the value of good communication and see the downfall of not communicating properly.

I wonder if all the bashing they are getting on Reddit has made them a little cautious about informal public discussion.

Yeah, their whole problem is the lie. Nobody cares about the multiplayer, but people don't like the lies about it. How do you undo all that negativity? As always, the lie about the thing is way worse than the actual thing.

It isn't easy or quick to undo a PR mistake like that. Weeks before the game came out they could have just said that MP didn't make it and nobody would have given it a 2nd thought.

Hopefully they are working on some free content beyond just the crash fixes. The game is a great start and could really be built on.

If they come out now and say there will be paid DLC then they will compound the issue.

Yeah and that's a shame, because this game reminds me a ton of Destiny at launch. A few DLC packs could do wonders.

Unfortunately what they need to do from a PR standpoint is patch in the promised MP free of charge, but from a game standpoint that will take a lot of time that should be spent making the game better.

So frustrating. Of course the fall lineup is going to hit soon and this game will get buried by the big releases.

To be fair, a big drop-off in sales is not unusual in the second week. Uncharted 4 had a 78% drop in the second week. That's very similar to the drop-off reported here (81%).

As with every other game. A similar article pointed out that fallout 4, which hit #1 multiple times, had just as big a percentage drop. Difference is NMS lost the #1 spot much quicker.

Media hypes it up astronomically.
Media then bashes it relentlessly.
Gotta get those clicks.

Ending spoiler, well, I guess you would call it a spoiler. Funny otherwise.

I haven't played since Sunday. But I've had 3 crashes (on PS4). The planets I've been on look cool but the long walks with not much to do but gather resources isn't exactly blowing me away. I know a lot of you guys like this game and I'm not trying to dump on it. I wish this was priced lower because it just doesn't feel like its worth $60.

I tried to get a refund since I purchased this digitally off the PSN store. But Sony informed me that once you start the download you can't get a refund. I asked to move the purchase towards something else like Deus Ex but that's not an option. Apparently the 14 day refund policy only applies if you haven't started the download or if the product is defective. I guess this forces me to push further into the game in the hopes it grabs me.

To be clear, this is not the case of feeling duped or tricked because of what didn't make it into the game. I did my research and decided to take a chance. It didn't work out for me but that's not Hello Games fault. Sometimes taking a chance on a game means you won't like it as much as others.

As for crashes, try not putting the game on hibernate (hit options and close application). I do that often and I have not crashed recently. It may not fix it but seems to help a lot. I also just close out frequently just to be safe.

The problem is the randomness of the planets means that a lot of them look similar. There are some really cool planets out there with cool animals, but of course the reviews aren't wrong either, lots of them are just slightly different colors or variations.

Things do seem to get a little more interesting as you move away from the start. The story never seems to go anywhere though which is disappointing.

Also, don't bother farming anything except resources you need right now. Otherwise, wait for planets with high value resources like graviton balls, venom sacs, etc. Usually planets with hyper aggressive sentinels have the best "loot". Otherwise, just explore and have fun. If a planet isn't optimal for resources and you're bored with it, just move on. You'll know the "loot" planets when you find them.

This was posted earlier in smaller form, but I thought it was worth a repost, for people who might've missed it.

I love the harmonica.

Re. ending spoilers, if I were playing NMS and looking forward to reaching the center of the galaxy,

(this is not an actual story spoiler, just my advice about viewing the ending; but I'll tag it anyhow)

I would want to know about this particular ending.

I would probably pick up No Man's Sky for the Xbox One if they fix the price. $20 and i'm there. I liked the game and i also like achievements. So get it done Sean Murray.

Just saw the center of the universe end-game on YouTube and had my mind blown.

I cant get enough of that vid, lmao!

In a good way?

Potential spoiler:

If you paid for it, it's the opposite of good. Unless you count laugh factor, in which case of you didn't buy it, it's hilarious.

This game is full of surprises. Unfortunately none of them are good.

The game doesn't seem to actual save your discoveries.

No Man's Sky really has some major parallels to the first Fable and Molyneux. Tons of promises and an overbearing hype man writing checks the dev team can't cash. Finally, they run out of time and send out a shell of what they had initially envisioned. Much like the original Fable, No Man's Sky isn't absolutely terrible or the worst game you have ever played, but if expectations were reasonable to start and the price tag about half; people would be calling it a cult hit where they couldn't wait for the sequel.

My impression of Sean Murray was that he was a very humble guy, not prone to exaggerating, in fact more likely to underplay things. He was so gosh-golly, gee-whiz, big-toe-in-the-sand, I couldn't imagine him lying about his game. That's one of the reasons I wanted his game to succeed. I guess I had him wrong.

I don't think he necessarily was conscious and deliberate in his "lies" or misrepresentations. I think some of this can be chalked up to inexperience, or things getting trimmed late in the process. But he could've come out and clarified. He handled it poorly. He made a lot of statements that were not true. He's also hidden from the press and failed to come out and apologize, clarify, or anything -- which I can't blame him for (I'd be hiding under a desk, too), but it makes it look worse, like he's not willing to address things or be held accountable.
