From a strictly business standpoint is it worth it for them to provide free functional patches from this point on? Probably not. The problem is by the time that happens, the people who cared already sold the game and moved on.

The game sold a lot of copies so if they don't support it then they deserve to have no future.

Still loving this game, spent several hours over a few days on this one planet that is full of Emiril and has a climate and sentinels that are very kind on my health.

Will be here quite a while longer.

That's why I hope that HG isn't just done. There's a good game in there. It just needs some new features.

The problem is multiplayer is something they should not waste time on. Instead work on the single player features and make things more varied.

This game before and after release was always going to be about exploring for me, I've no real interest as yet in reaching the centre or following the Atlas path.

For me they could add selectable missions from trading posts or space station's. Pilot rescue mission's from hostile planets. Vehicle's to use on planet's and much more.

But this is the best game I've played in a long while. so much so, that I've not played another game since it's release on x1 or PS4.

I am enjoying it too, and that's what makes all the controversy so sad. My problem with the game is it does get horribly repetitive.

Basically my exploring is simplified to looking for loot planets or zinc (the one thing that is everywhere but never in the large quantities needed later on). Otherwise everything else is completely repetitive. Once you get most of the blueprints, there's no reason to stop anywhere and bother with talking to anyone.

Well, some sort of update from the devs. Not much really, but at least addressing the possibility of new features.

This week expect at least one more major update, which will enter testing on Wednesday. Once all our support requests have been answered then we can begin improving the game with new features :)

Also, someone witnessed an animal kill another in the game (so maybe not a total lie, although this seems really rare)

I see it happen once myself. If I'd known it was such a rare thing I would have recorded it.

Yeah well many assumed it happened, especially as some species are labeled "prey", but I'm not sure it was confirmed. I've never seen it myself. It may have been, but it frequently is on one of the NMS lies list so cross one off at least.

That's the thing some people don't get about this game. You can put what would be considered a lot of hours into it and still seen essentially nothing.
Sure we may have each seen a couple hundred planets or more, but we still haven't seen anything in the grand scheme.

That’s the problem with procedural generation. When you leave things up to an algorithm you never know what you’re going to get. I was reading an interview with a Bungie developer about their next expansion. He was asked about NMS and after making a joke about Hello Games ripping the UI from Destiny. He went on to say how they would never do procedural generation for their game because they purposely craft every detail that’s in their world to make for memorable experiences. And for gaming that’s a big thing and a reason why we don’t see a lot of procedural generated games being that successful. It just leaves too much up to chance and randomness which doesn’t always translate to being fun or memorable.

I need to give this game another try. I just got really bored looking for resources and the planet I was on at the time was a barren wasteland. I think that didn’t help because the few planets I visited before had lush vegetation and life which helped keep my engrossed in the game.

Yep, what makes the game unique also can simply make it boring at times. People aren't wrong - a huge % of the planets are just boring.

That paltry amount still demonstrates the advantage of physical media. I can't get anything for my digital copy. Something is better than nothing. :meh:

Yup, there's no recouping your losses on a digital purchase (unless you can get a refund). I got $45 for mine.

Maybe it will drop drastically in price soon. I'd pick it up for $20.

I'm assuming there is a large supply of used copies, and demand is probably falling off sharply. So prices should drop pretty quickly.

It looks like used copies are going for $35 to $40 on amazon and ebay. That's with less than a month on the market.

my only problem with the game so far is that after mining an area and you move away, the item you've just spent a few minutes demolishing appears to still be there from a distance. move back towards it and it disappears. bit of a problem when you have groups of Emeril together and lose track of the ones you've done already.

Its not throwing him under the bus by saying they needed a PR person. That is just common sense at this point.

I dunno. The dude in the video made a very good point. With the money and time Sony put into this game it's pretty obvious they could have appointed and paid for an entire PR team to handle him. But why would they? The hype was out of control for this game. And hype equals sales.

Was this game coming to xbox? Haven't heard much talk after release, maybe no one cares now.

Somehow nothing like this has happened with other games. What was unique here was Sean Murray so he gets 95% of the blame.

The reality is is that Sean Murray lied and did so in a rather unnecessary way. How about just don't do that?
