I really don't care at all. I just love watching video gamers going apes*** over nonsense.

Overall I thought it was a little underwhelming and a bit disappointing but I'm happy to sit back and let them update it and then i'll try it out again.

That's where I am. The game isn't great now but you can see the potential in there. When all is said and done I got quite a few hours out of it already and hopefully will get more.

The silly part is that the multiplayer feature is just pointless in this game. They should have never mentioned it. The game would not benefit one bit from MP. Two people on Reddit tried to find each other, if they had, that would have been the end of it. Why build MP for that?

I started three systems away from another human player. I always regretted not heading that way first. I think I'll be giving Survival mode a shot after I download the patch.

The only thing that stopped the game being a lengthy time sink is the fact that you only really ever do the same 8 things on every planet. So while the Universe you are in is infinite, the stuff you can do in it is extremely limited. Which means after exploring 5 or 6 planets you are already getting a little fed up of doing the same thing over and over again.

Survival mode should make the game less routine. I think the problem was it was always supposed to be survival mode, but just wasn't hard enough. Once you figure out the game basics it is almost impossible to die on default.

The entire game was about finding ships, repairing them and fueling them to get to the center.

Now I have to decide whether to continue my old save (never finished it) or start new.

With the promises of the patches to come though, it goes to show, Anusthing is possible.

Bellybama builds his first base after the patch...

I don't know if anyone still cares, but...

No Man's Sky's Atlas Rises Update Finally Adds Multiplayer Gameplay

Let's face it. No Man's Sky was a major disappointment when it launched last year. A combination of poor communication, misrepresentation and lousy marketing pushed fans eager to play the space sim away in droves. But for those still dedicated to exploring its space, No Man's Sky has released its third major update for the game, Atlas Rises.

The 1.3 update adds 30 hours of story and lore, portals, better galactic regeneration with new components such as wealth and conflict, new worlds and planet types, new ships, and a mission system. The graphics and UI have also been revamped. And in perhaps the biggest change, the game will now allow up to 16 people to explore the universe together through synchronous co-op.

Multiplayer detail:

  • Glitches in the simulation have begun to appear.
  • Visualised by strange floating orbs, up to 16 players can see and communicate with one another, and explore the universe together.
  • While interaction with others is currently very limited, this is an important first step into the world of synchronous co-op in No Man’s Sky.
  • While interaction is very limited, VOIP (Voice over IP) allows proximity based voice chat with other nearby explorers.
  • Use portals to quickly travel to more populated planets, or to meet up with friends.
This is starting to look more and more like how the game SHOULD have been released. As in, they should have delayed it to this year for release. I can see the review scores being much better, less returns and some long time play.

I'm curious as to how many people are still playing this.

Wow, I only had a short time in the game, but it has changed a lot since launch. I ended up deleting my save and starting over.

Looks very nice on the PS Pro as well.

I really need to try it again. I'm one of the weird people who loved this game despite all the drama at launch, platinumed the game last year and was completely hooked on it for quite some time. Sounds like it keeps getting better and better too.

I'm just biding my time before I give it a go again.

This update sounds decent. I'll need to get back into this at some point.

so far I'm liking the hover mode and the ability to land next to the things I want to.

taking a little time in getting used to keeping the ship from crashing as it no longer auto fly's just above the surface anymore and I'm hitting mountains and mostly anything that sticks out the ground that the ship would usually auto fly over.

i don't like having to find materials that i need to open chest's or those damaged smoking pod things.

also, for the first time. the ship above is better than the bonus ship i got with the original game. so just stayed with this one.
it came equipped with rockets (not auto locking) that fire 4 at a time in use and more storage.

Did Shaun ever come out from under the desk and face the press?

Did Shaun ever come out from under the desk and face the press?

Well, he posts again, but he has never really answered anything.

He screwed up.. big time. I think he and HG understand that.

Actions speak louder than words, and in the past year they've been patching and improving the game.

I hope people can finally move past what happened. The game should have been this from day 1, but it wasn't. At least they didn't just take the money and run.
