Never heard of this but after watching that video review I know I would have loved it. Is it backwards compatible on the 360?

Yes it is. In fact it's sitting on my shelf right now beckoning me. I might have to play it this afternoon.
He post about it so often (Phil spencer) & other microsoft guys (creative director even has phantom dust as his background) that it's bound to happen, I wonder what that one guy thinks who was saying it would never happen on here,lol.

They've been namedropping PD a lot since last year though. I wonder if the game may actually be in development now already.
I don't know. Namedropping is one thing, but to be in development is another entirely. Perhaps we'll see something at E3. At the very least, I'd imagine a Phantom Dust remake coming out for the X1 and maybe even 360.
Loved the original Phantom Dust on the Xbox and would love to see what they could do with the IP two generations later!!
The original was one of the best games on the xbox and ahead of its time in many ways. It also launched at 20 bucks but sold poorly, mostly due to MS not giving it the push it deserved, hell it would have been another "Metalwolf Chaos" and never even been released in the states had it not been for Majesco. Phil Spencer has been teasing the hell out of this game on Twitter for a while, and Futatsugi is interested in directing a sequel. Here's to hoping it shows up at E3 in some form!
Will be cool if it happens. When you think back to the original Xbox generation all the games tend to fade together and only that select few really stand out in your memory. If you played Phanton Dust it is probably one of the few that clearly stand out. It was not just fun, it was so cool looking and different from anything else.
I would love to see a new one but like the original, I think a sequel would struggle to find its place among the Madden's and CODs. I would even go as far to say "modern gamers" are even more close minded with greater tunnel vision than back in then. The original Xbox was still on the last edge the all Japanese era (Sony, Nintendo, Sega) and games were much more diverse and eccentric. Today, everything is just a reskinned version of COD.

Phantom Dust is one of those game that should've been more popular and sadly it wasn't. It was sorta the last gasp of those very creative Japanese games that very common in the PS1/Saturn but almost completely disappeared in the PS2 days. Y'know,games like Destrega,Trap Bomber or Solar Eclipse. I really hope we see either an HD remake or a sequel.

Microsoft has announced Phantom Dust for Xbox One, on stage at the platform holder’s E3 2014 press conference.
Phantom Dust launched for the original Xbox back in 2004. It’s was a pseudo-card-based action/strategy game. We can only presume that the reboot for Xbox One will follow the same lines.

I'd bet most gamers don't even know what this IP is. Not many people owned an OG Xbox, and it's 2 generations ago.
