I think the prudent thing to do is give them at least half of The Last Guardian amount of time to show us something. That would be fair.

I don't care about the Last Guardian. I care about Phantom Dust, in fact it's one of the only games Microsoft has that I do care about. I care that Microsoft took the time to show a fake ass cgi trailer for a game that wasn't even really in dev yet and the devs didn't even know about the trailer before hand. It's shady as hell and it's obvious Microsoft used this as a tool to try and show core gamers they cared when they really didn't. Phantom dust is obviously not a super money maker but that is why them announcing it in the first place was so cool.
Playing games with fans emotions is not okay. There isn't going to be some big outrage over this either because it's not a dudebro shooter. Us fans are more than likely screwed and it's not funny. Microsoft first party is slacking majorly for me. I needed this game, my xbox one needed this game.
Don't really know why you are bringing up ps4 games in here either. Kinda seems like you're just trying to take fanboy shots but I know you would never do anything like that.

That's not taking a shot at anything. I'm miffed as to why people would give this team basically only a year and have written them off when other titles in the past have been given nearly a decade, or more, with the likes of The Last Guardian, Duke Nukem, etc.
Something obviously went wrong in the development process and it has been put on the shelf for the time being. I don't think Microsoft would have announced it if they didn't have the intention of making the game a reality.
A decade for phantom dust? really? come on man, it's not even an AAA big budget game. The fact that it's on the shelf at all speaks volumes. How hard is it to find a studio to work on it? if they wanted to do it then they would do it. It's really that simple and no excuse going to fly with me. Hell they could have gotten platinum to do it if they wanted to.
I think if Double Helix didn't get bought out they would have been tasked with the job and would have done an admiral one at that. Hopefully you get your game sooner, rather than later. All of my friends like the title and hoped it was coming.

Greenberg said no, but that its not in active development either. Their lineup is looking stacked through 2016 so it wouldn't surprise me if it got pushed to be a 2017 game. I'll be so salty if it gets cancelled.

I suggest you guys go google it. There are comments out there from the devs who worked on it. Wolf king I'm happy you can be so optimistic but you realize the game is not being worked on at all right? Why come out and say the game is shelved in the first place if they are working on it or plan to work on it anytime soon. Sorry but you have no idea what you are talking about.

I wonder what will release first? Phantom Dust 2, Shenmue 3 or Final Fantasy 7 remake?
This is why publishers need to stop announcing games until they are near complete. When a game is announced they should be able to demo a beta for the press. It would also cut down on all the bullshots. Imaging gaming public's surprise when they actually get all the features advertised and better optimization than first impressions. I mean, why do they feel the need to announce games years in advance...if not crowd funded there is no reason.

What a nightmare! Sounds like they started out doing what they were contracted for but then got some big and unrealistic demands.The part about the MS E3 trailer and Ken Lobb was pretty mind-boggling.
