PS5 Pro - 2024?

Just focus on the PS6.
You keep saying that, but it makes no sense, the PS6 is probably not coming out until 2028 and this isn't going to interfere with that at all, apparently, they've had this design ready to go for a while and sat on it so it's not distracting them or taking time away from designing a next gen machine. Starting PSSR with the PS5 Pro is supposed to help them get it matured for the PS6 and beyond so this it's actually likely helping if anything.

Exactly, as long as it works the way it sounds like it does PSSR is going to help a lot, you'll get less strain on the GPU and a better image at the same time with this extra power being able to be used in other areas. I know everyone is going to make fun of it sounding like pisser and that's fine lol but hopefully it will be a noticeable improvement over FSR2.

FSR is inferior to DLSS. I will be happy if PSSR can give us IQ that is somewhere in the middle or closer to the latter

Going with 2026.

Switch early 2025 and Xbox late 2025.

There is no reason for either xbox or PS6 to launch that early. If MS launched in 2025 what kind of console could they release? if it's the power people want it'll have to be gigantic and far more expensive than a console has ever been, it would also be the least supported. Sony is clearly not planning on 2026 when they are releasing a Pro this year.

I get them not wanting to be on the exact same cycle as playstation but 2 or 3 years early makes the current gen a lost generation. We still haven't even seen real gameplay demos of Fable, any gameplay at all of State of Decay 3 etc so it's likely that those games won't even be coming out until 2025, it would look pretty bad to have games advertised as Series console games end up being the last gen versions of crossgen games.

It might be just bigger than the current x, like an xl version, cos physics 😆

Or really maybe something similar to this?

Didn’t Sony state they’re breaking even with each sale, no, cos inflation?

The Ps5 is profitable since their revision back in summer 2021 or so. After they announced the 10 million mark so 80% of their sales since then have been profit..

Yeah supposedly it's going to cost them about the same amount that the base PS5 cost at launch so we'll see. I'm sure I'll buy one, I bought both last gen refresh consoles.

That was just for the disc version. You also don’t know if that was just the US, or else why the price hikes?

Yeah I still can't find any news on the digital version being profitable after you corrected me a while ago. I'm sure I seen something but nope.

They said the price hikes was because of currency conversion factors.
What about the price hike for the current digital?

I feel like the only time will see another price drop on any console will be during the holidays, unless they get revisions again…even then, Sony has gone through a handful of internal revisions using much less copper for their cooling and still no price drops like they’ve done in previous generations with said new iterations :(

Inflation caused a lot of issues as well, the things people don't even consider like shipping etc all went up.

Meaningful price drops are probably not going to happen, if anything the PS5/PS5 digital will probably never get lower than $100 below launch price. Too much ram in these machines now as well as SSD's etc, it's just too hard to drop the prices a lot anymore.

True…. It sucks cos there’s always talk like “with this new tech it’ll make things better, easier, lighter, more efficient and cheaper” but they’re like “cos of the R&D investment and it’s new we’re can’t lower prices”….*puts on tin foil hat* They seem to be taking cues from the US with “big pharma”.

Also doesn't help that governments have been printing free money like crazy past couple years thereby making inflation even more prevalent than usual 🤷‍♂️
